Such a cool place! Lots of oddities and duck themed goodies. Library in the back. Great college kid hangout! I ordered a breakfast sandwich with ham in a pita. It came with pesto that really made the sandwich pop. Waitstaff are friendly and will chat a bit. Enjoyed that. Pretty quiet and sunny in the morning made us enjoy our meal so much. read more

Great little coffee shop by MSU campus. They have a large variety of flavored beans for sale as well as many flavors to use in your drinks. I ordered an iced mocha though and I realized afterward that it wasn't a latte at all but an iced coffee with flavoring instead. It was still good enough that I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

My first "office" of the day and my second coffee, I stopped in to Fuzzy Duck for a tasty cortado that ended up being a nice latte. Nice space with plenty of interesting local merchandise on sale and a wifi that worked really well. There was a good flow of students coming through heading to class but getting a coffee on the way. We love stopping here on our way through town. The coffee is okish. They have a wide variety of drink options from classic espresso based drinks and teas to smoothies. (Also some bistro food options) Plenty of space to sit and sip, especially if you venture into the awesome local bookstore that is behind the cafe area. They sell all kinds of interesting gifts... specialty yarn, games, pottery, and locally made crafts. Book selection turns over quickly and they seem to make a point of keeping unique titles in stock. Staff, especially in the bookstore, is very friendly and helpful. Love that they are inside an old reno-ed theater. read more

Took my son and I on a day trip through the town and this is by far our favorite place! Has all the treats and drinks my son and I love. Along with a wonderful bookstore. Cute coffee shop with plenty of options! We custom made a Comfort Sandwich with Wheat bread, ham, cheddar cheese, lettuce and Chipotle aioli. I got a spiced apple drink and my boyfriend ordered the pumpkin pie latte. The sandwich was Toasted and it was really good. Was a little messy but totally worth it. I loved my spiced apple drink, just taste like a hot apple cider that I added some espresso to. The pumpkin pie latte was also good but I definitely recommend the spiced apple! This place is cute! I'm super disappointed that there wasn't more duck paraphernalia. Like, why no duck face masks? Seems like a missed opportunity. I got an iced vanilla latte and it was mostly ice and vanilla syrup. I know I'm in the land of sweet tea, but it was wildly too much sugar syrup and basically no milk. One Morehead's hidden treasures. Great Coffee and breakfast fare--best scones in the state--hot or cold! Awesome lunch selections including vegetarian and vegan options. The Coffee Shoppe is just the preview to the main attraction of the Coffee Tree Book Store in the back. After all, both establishments are co-housed in an old movie theater building. Really don't like that this place sells many books on how to practice witchcraft and then sells the tools to practice that witchcraft. I asked about why the witch books were front and center and there were no other religious books apparent in the back of the store, they said "we have a few Christian books in the back". Don't like any business that promotes a strong opinion. Leave it at home and sell coffee. read more

Visiting family and decided to check out a local cafe in the area. My wife and I ordered a brown sugar latte (mainly cause they say that their brown sugar syrup is homemade) and she ordered an egg sandwich with cheddar. The coffee was a bit pricey, but tasty and my wife enjoyed her sandwich. We also really enjoyed the bookstore in the back. We spent over an hour just exploring their books. Overall if you're in the area and want something different than Starbucks, then check out the Fuzzy Duck! read more

This might be my all time favorite coffee shop!! Not only do they have tasty coffee treats, sandwiches and salads they also have a bookstore in the back! I was so excited to walk into the bookstore in the rear of the store! This space was previously a theater. One screen movie theater converted into a cool community space! They have Story Time, crafts, knitting club and so much more! The prices are reasonable and you can find one of a kind gifts here too! You can also order any title they do not have in stock! Be sure to check their sale section, I found some great options for my kiddo at super cheap prices! You can stroll and shop while sipping your latte or have a seat and just read or study. Hubby and I went to The Fuzzy Duck Coffee house this weekend for the first time since college. It has changed locations since we were in college in the late 90s, but it only added to the kitsch and atmosphere. The Fuzzy Duck is now located in the concessions and lobby area of the old movie theater and the bookstore is now located in the theater. They even kept up the screen adding even more to the nostalgia. We chatted with one of the barristas and found out ownership has remained steady which surely added to the fact that it had the same feel as it used to. I ordered a Frappuccino which they easily made non dairy. Hubby had a ginger dragon and I happily bought a Fuzzy Duck sticker to put on my refrigerator until next time. read more

The only place that got me through college. I've always had a good experience here, and the posters welcoming immigrants are always a joy to see. They promote and host a lot of local events, and it's always a good place to feel connected to the town. The coffees are great (drinks or beans alike!) I love the ginger peach tea and all the selections of hot teas, as well. Their food are generally healthy, and I'm a huge fan. I did get charged over $7 for a drink once that isn't supposed to be that expensive (dirty chai); however, since I visit frequent, I didn't comment on it but do hope they change their pricing system for dirty chai's. read more

I local coffee shops. My husband and I lived in Morehead several years ago so we were thrilled to come back and find Fuzzy Duck is still serving great coffee. The location is great. They're in an old movie theatre. I love that they kept the old marquee out front and put "Now Showing: The Fuzzy Duck". They have a great selection of drinks. With a few specialties. One of which is Hazelnuccino. Which is their only iced coffee specialty. We both ordered the Iced Toddy. Which is basically a plain iced coffee. I got mine with a shot of Toffee Nut and me hubby got it with Cinnamon. I was a bit disappointed that they don't offer cold brew. They offer the equivalent to a Starbucks Frappacino. And they have your basics like latte, mocha, chai etc. They also offer various lunch items and a few bakery items as well. Also, they have an assorted variety of bulk coffee for sale as well as a few Bodum French presses. Yaaas! If you have time browse their bookshop, they have the newest authors and some fun little unique items like a yarn corner, an old fridge modeling magnets and one-of-a-kind gifts to give a friend. I always make this place a go-to when I'm here in Morehead. read more

Friendly, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. The conversation alone made the stop worthwhile, and I would gladly come back just to sit at the bar and chat with him again. The sweet tea was fantastic, which, from what I've learned while visiting Kentucky, is a fairly serious category of competition. For dessert, I had a warm cinnamon pretzel topped with ice cream, and it was outstanding. If you're debating whether to order dessert, stop debating and just do it. One thing I've noticed about restaurants in Kentucky is that they appear to believe air conditioning is both a utility and a competitive sport. If you're visiting from out of town, consider bringing a sweater or dressing in layers. The dining room was cool enough that I briefly wondered whether I should have ordered hot chocolate. Will I be back? Maybe. If I return, I'll probably do the sensible thing and try one of the burgers that everyone keeps raving about. Until then, Fat Patty's gets credit for great service, excellent sweet tea, a fantastic dessert, and for reminding me that sometimes the best part of a meal is the people you meet along the way.

Not just the welcome to our restaurant, it's come on in and she'll get you fully excited, mouth watering, can't wait to come back again all before your food has even arrived. The ambiance? You walk in those doors and you're instant family. Not just by the workers, even the customers will talk across tables joining in. This WAS a good place once, Me and my family were stocked by a young man that was working as an employee; at first I thought he was just trying to be helpful, till we kept seeing him over and over and over, he was only looking as me and my family. It was so strange that I stopped looking at the current books, and started looking at him just as much as he was looking at me. It got so bothersome that my husband asked him if we could help him, he stated that we had too many books at our table; (I had 4, my son 2 my Husband 2 my two girls 3 between them) then he called over Susan and SUSAN had that gaul to put her hands on one of our books over my husband shoulder and closed it and state in a nasty tone "IF you are not going to buys these books, don't place them like this, because we want them to look good for people who will buy them", at this point I was like, Lady, you better be glad that my kids are here or my "Sailor" would be coming out to tell you how RUDE you are being, Who does this to customers, I did not know that there was a rule that said you could only look at one book at a time, I felt that I was being harassed and profiled, I plan on talking to the other owner, and writing a FORMAL complaint. I just know that I am not going to talk nice to all the people that I know about this place, My family both sides have lived in Morehead for over 100 years, and I have a large range of people to talk to about the horrible treatment that I suffered during the Holiday Down Town Morehead celebration; Thanks Fuzzy Duck staff for making me LOVE Star Bucks even more. read more

The sweet tea was fantastic, which, from what I've learned while visiting Kentucky, is a fairly serious category of competition. For dessert, I had a warm cinnamon pretzel topped with ice cream, and it was outstanding. If you're debating whether to order dessert, stop debating and just do it. One thing I've noticed about restaurants in Kentucky is that they appear to believe air conditioning is both a utility and a competitive sport. If you're visiting from out of town, consider bringing a sweater or dressing in layers. The dining room was cool enough that I briefly wondered whether I should have ordered hot chocolate. Will I be back? Maybe. If I return, I'll probably do the sensible thing and try one of the burgers that everyone keeps raving about. Until then, Fat Patty's gets credit for great service, excellent sweet tea, a fantastic dessert, and for reminding me that sometimes the best part of a meal is the people you meet along the way.

An unsweetened tea was delivered and rather than send it back there was sugar on the table. When the server came for our dinner order, lemon was asked for as well as the other place setting. One of the orders was for Cajun shrimp and rice with a side of sweet potato casserole. When dinner was delivered we asked if we could have that other place setting which was finally brought. The shrimp on the menu says that it's 2 skewers of shrimp. This was 5 shrimp when it was delivered. At this point we just wanted to eat and figured that we weren't coming back and really didn't want to complain. The child ordered the kids Mac and cheese. It was cold so he was given the sweet potato casserole to eat. When the server came back another sweet potato casserole was ordered. When everyone was done eating she came back and said that they were out. I really don't think any of us will ever go back here. I'm only giving it 1 star because I have to at least give one, otherwise I'd not give any. I wish that we had taken a picture of the shrimp dinner to post. I ordered the grilled chicken wrap and fries. Originally, I wasn't going to get fries but when I learned that it's fried in beef tallow, that was an instant change of mind. So glad to learn that not all restaurants use terrible seed oils. I got my food to go as I was in a rush to hit the road, but the food came out fresh and delicious and I would definitely come back here in the future and sit down next time. The service was quick and friendly, and the ambience inside was very casual and inviting. Definitely a wonderful lunchtime experience for me and I plan to return.
