Don't be fooled by the outside! Food was excellent and at a decent price. Will definitely be back and would recommend to others.

I believe that they are now on their third location and they have great comfort food with tons of flavor! I am a gumbo fanatic, but I don't go here for their gumbo. I like many of their dishes and some of my favorites are the Pazole Stew and the Drunken Chicken and Maque Choux. They used to have a peanut sauce that was to die for. They also have amazing specials like Lobster Etoufee and Hog Wild Red Chili. If you are in the mood for something different, you won't find recipes like these anywhere else in Kentucky.

We ordered the Maque Choux and the Hog Wild Red Chili this recent visit and did a half-and-half combo with extra garlic bread (highly recommend for soaking up every last bite). We chose rice as our base, but they also offer grits, pasta, or jambalaya. Make sure you ask to sample a few options before committing to your option Everything was flavorful, hearty, and clearly made with care. The staff is incredibly friendly and very patient especially with me asking a million questions about their various spice levels in their dishes. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding, which was good, but the peanut butter pie was absolutely amazing, it didn't even make it home before it was gone. They do have beer options here as well. The ambiance inside is very casual and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. We will definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommend!

The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, the vibe is awesome, the prices are unbeatable, and the speed of the service is unmatched. I ordered the jambalaya, followed by a half-chicken, half-shrimp étouffée platter. The portions are absolutely massive. I even took leftovers back to my hotel room and still wanted more the next day. It is that good. If you are in town, do not skip this spot. I am 100% coming back again tomorrow before I fly home!

However, coming into this establishment - everybody's so friendly and so welcoming this is how I knew that the restaurant was going to be fantastic. Not only did the gentleman at the front walk us through the menu and how to order he gave some great recommendations as well. Food came out real quick and has great flavours at a great price point and I enjoy that you can do half size so you can try more than one. I ordered the crawfish etoufee. So many different hot sauce flavours to try and get them in a little sauce container the bread oh my God I could devour that so good the whole meal. Honestly, the flavours were delicious. If I'm ever in this area again, I'm definitely gonna come back.

We visited Knotty Pine On the Bayou on a Thursday. The restaurant is pretty good size. I didn't…read morerealize this until it was time for a restroom break. It was a long walk. The wicker chairs in the section to the left of the bar as you face the bar were unusually deep and low. Over time I think we all adjusted, but sitting in them definitely felt unusual. There are other chairs throughout the restaurant. I recommend finding a table with different chairs. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very efficient. We hadn't checked on the website, but found out Thursday is oyster day, with $1 oysters and fried oysters and $1.50 for Oyster Bienville. The fried oysters were delicious. The raw oysters were good, though I had one that was gritty. We are going again in two weeks and will try the Oyster Bienville along with other assorted oysters. Two of us had the special Pan Seared Sea Bass. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The crisp on the top was delicious and the fish itself was delicate and moist. It did indeed melt in my mouth. The potatoes were very good, though I didn't finish all of them. The greens were good. Mark had a ribeye and is still raving about it today. He ordered the preparation version made with just salt and pepper. He also had a cup of gumbo. He said it had an amazing depth of flavor. We wrapped up with dessert. Three folks had Key Lime Pie. I opted for Karma's Opera Crème Cake. Oh my goodness, it was huge, sweet and delicious. I tried a bit of key lime and it just didn't compare. That said, those who had the Key Lime Pie loved it. Not only would we return, but we have the date already scheduled. I'm looking forward to trying something different.

Not to mention the fact that you HAVE TO HAVE A RESERVATION, was mind boggling for the place. Like the server was very nice and all, that is a plus. Though sadly the food, we had the gumbo and etu fay, it was honestly pretty sad. Like it's up there with the top 5 most sad restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food was pretty bland, and lacked any form of spice. Not to mention it was hard to tell what was actually in it, like a lot of the ingredients tasted over cooked. So yeah it's going to be a no for me.

I ordered the artichoke and mushroom with Parmesan cheese sauce, potato salad, and Andy's Cajun Korn pudding. Portion sizes are very large! My entrée was large enough for two meals. The Cajun Korn pudding was a little spicy but not too much, mostly just good flavor. Potato salad was definitely unique, not like any other potato salad I have had before. My husband ordered the red beans with smoked sausage and the gumbo. He also said that was delicious. When you go in you order at the counter and then there are a lot of sauces to choose from to put over your dish if you like. I recommend the garlic hot sauce. The dining area is spacious and decorated with unique art. I'm excited to try the bbq sandwiches and the chili dogs in the future.

We were here on a Tuesday and the restaurant was not hopping. Here's hoping it hops other days of the week. The place is cute and our booth was very cozy. Our waiter, Scott, was helpful and pleasant. I ordered a Iberville Hand Grenade to start. It was slightly sweet and strong. It was a nice start for our dining experience. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes. Scott explained there was currently a shortage of asparagus, so no asparagus on this appetizer, but I didn't miss them. We both thought flavor of this dish was completely satisfying. I ordered Pasta Laveau with Shrimp, which was delicious. Mark had the Gumbo, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I'm glad this place is close enough to stop in before a show. I think I'd bring friends back to give it a try. Overall, a good experience and a good meal.
