I understand this place is a hot spot for shop lifters but Im a grown adult who can afford luxuries, I don'y need socially awkward employees weirdly following me around the store. Maybe the store designer should design the store to be more open and less cluttered with an open view. Also, the employees need to learn to take "no" for an answer. I just want to make my purchase, not get bombarded with questions about joining memberships, reward programs and e-mails lists. They talked me into getting magazine membership that I canceled two months after and till this day continued to charge $12.99 a month for. I called and tried to get my money back and they said it wasn't possible.. offered to lower monthly payment to $6 when I tried canceling for the SECOND time. Don't get scammed read more

After their renovation, they don't have nearly the amount of DVDs that they used to have, unfortunately. Now, they mostly carry knick-knacks, t-shirts, stuffed animals, and snacks that have to do with Marvel characters, some other cartoons, etc., which I'm not interested in in the least. read more

They talked me into signing up for a magazine membership trial to save money on my purchase. I ended up getting roped into a huge scam that continued to take my money monthly and was impossible to unsubscribe from. Each time I called I was put on hold for forever by foreign employees, and eventually I got the problem solved and my money back months later. Screw you FYE, why would you rope your customers into this ridiculous scam?? Never going back. This particular location is the one who helped scam me. It's messy and their books in their selection are falling apart, ripped, bent, and used beyond comprehension. I will be going elsewhere, especially when there's much better stores that serve as your competition. read more

This is the worst experience I've had with a retailer to date. Please save your time and money and shop at Hot Topic, BoxLunch or Spencer's instead. Three employees that I had the extreme displeasure of working with made this my first and last experience with FYE. I made a purchase Feb. 14th and upon making my purchase I was pushed to sign up for their VIP program and select 3 magazines. I was told it was free. This was the employee Jalen. He gave me false information. The VIP costs after a month and the magazines get billed to you after 2 months. I had no idea and if I hadn't read the fine print on the pamphlet I'd have never known. On Feb. 29th I returned my purchase and was assisted by Cora. She misinformed me that my refund would be processed and credited back to my card within 3 days. Fine. It's now been 4 days going on 5. I called my bank and it's not like they're holding the funds, they haven't even received them back! I called the store this morning and spoke to the Manager Manny who had the worst snotty little know it all attitude and spoke to me as if I didn't know how my bank operated. He passed the blame off to my bank rather than actually try to investigate the issue or at least explain that FYE has a longer than normal refund processing time. Additionally, he hung up in my face several times and literally stood in the store and argued with me about whether or not he'd done it! A grown 40-something man who's the MANAGER arguing over whether or not he'd hung up when he clearly did! Astonishing! All in all I've had a horrible experience with this money hungry company and will continue to avoid their ever shrinking business. There's a reason you hardly find these stores *whispers* they're a shit company. And Manny, if you're reading this, well you're shit too so I guess you're right at home. CHEERS! read more

The costumer service here is HORRIBLE. The times I've came here it seems as though there's always an employee following me around and it seems that they think I'm going to steal?? It's happened countless times so I doubt its a coincidence and I think they target people of color (specifically teens) because I've had friends who have shared this same experience. The last time I bought something here, the girl at the cash register was SO rude and condescending. I was paying with a card and she talked in such a small voice that I couldn't hear her instructions so she had to repeat herself and sounded so aggressive. The way she handled that entire transaction was just so demeaning and it made me very uncomfortable. Please don't come here!! There are plenty of other video/music stores around the area that you're better off visiting!!!! read more

Went in I knew what I wanted and got a box with what's suppose to be a wireless turntable and speaker walked out saying I don't need a receipt then silly me opens the box an hour later to find nothing in the box lol drive myself back to fye and thank god that Amy was there to help me and get what I needed right before the holidays! Ok so I had no real problem checking except the long line which only had one cashier. I'm really patient when it comes to waiting. But I asked a associate if i could hold my pops up front cause i didnt want hold them all around the store. She looked at me with this dirty look and told me we can but you need to came back for them. I'm literally not going anywhere wtf??? Then I ask another associate,"hey did you guys get the new prince pop in." Dump associate ," did you reserve one?" First of that's not what I asked nor that not how you respond. Then another person gets involved and said did you reserve him. I was like no I didnt i dont even know how to do that???? There isnt even a option on there website for that. It literally has been sold out online. I just said I saw it on your Instagram and it says you got them in store. I just thought I'd stop by and see if you got it in. She tells me to look at the pop wall. I asked if they new where they could be st least walk with over there and help me look like wtf. She tells me there mixed in. I found one after searching for at least 10 mins. Checking out was fine they gave me there membership they told me it was free. I just gave them my name date of birth and zipcode. Question is I never gave them my banking info. It charged me this month. Wth??? How would it know my debit if I payed cash. read more

FYE gets my respect because nothing beats their promos. I've gotten wrestling foam fingers, shot glasses, dog tags, silver coins, and posters just by making purchases on certain new releases. Their new releases are generally more pricey than competing stores, but who doesn't like free stuff? Giving this place 3 stars because they removed their Ticketmaster booth and the prices on a lot of their stuff. read more

Cashier was super nice but basically scammed me into joining the Fye vip membership. She pressured me into joining and kept saying i'd save 15% like wow i'd save the whole sales tax of an item, what a deal. she told me it was just a rewards program and nothing attached to it. the only thing she told me was every so often i'll get a % off using my card and that's is nothing else. fast forward a month later and i see that i was charged $25 from fye for the membership!! i didn't even know how they got my card info until i realized she put my cc info while i was purchasing an item. I wasn't told about any of this and honestly looking back now i feel very grossed out and violated that they did this to me. Once i googled it, i saw that i was supposed to receive free magazines and all this other wack stuff and didn't receive any of it. I called their 1800 number and all for them to tell me to continue having an account and that they can't help me but will lower the price to $5 a month. Wtf why do i want a membership for FYE, a place that looks like it was going out of business since it first opened!! To all the people out there reading this, please DONT CREATE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM because you will be stuck on the phone with them for 5 hours trying to cancel a membership you didn't want in the first place. read more

Bought an action figure there a week ago, got home and found it was missing a hand. I get that I missed it, but isn't it their job to verify quality of items for sale? I took it back today, girl NEVER gave me an options. Just says I will refund back to your card, after I asked "you don't give cash back"?" and she said they do. BUT she NEVER gave me an option and now I wait for at least 3 days to get my money back WHILE THEY PLAY WITH IT. Maybe it wouldn't be a big deal if I hadn't found out half an hour before that I gave Greenpeace $20 8 months ago and without my knowledge have been deducting $20 every month since and I was NEVER TOLD THAT! I am just tired of US ALL BEING AWALKING BAG OF MONEY FOR EVERY CORPORATION AHOLE, GOVERNMENT AHOLE AND ANY AUTHORITY THAT WANTS TO BILK US. Then the horrible cow tells me to have a "nice day". This used to be one of my favorite stores until the one in Glendora closed down. Now I have to drive to Montclair. The blue rays and new release prices are the same at any other store. But they also sell used DVDs really cheap and they have a wide selection of items that you can't find at any other store. They also have cool merchandise like Batman Wallets, DBZ shirts or belts that you can purchase. They don't get 5 stars because the place looks like it might be closing, and its a bit depressing. The other reason is because of those damn "free" magazines they give you with your purchase. They are such a hassle to cancel, so always turn them down. read more

What happened to the CDs? What happened to the movies? It seems like they decided to change their name to FOJ, Full of Junk. From selling hundreds and thousands of DVDs, Blu-rays, and CDs to selling overpriced candy, Hot Topic style t-shirts, Pop! Vinyl, and pretty much everything a person could careless about. I used to check out this store to find the movies, CDs, and boxsets that Best Buy or Target didn't carry, but now it seems that Target and Best Buy have the better selection. I remember not too long ago being able to purchase a great amount of CDs for a good deal and placed in the correct spot, now I'm searching for albums in a completely unorganized rack and realizing they don't carry anything worth looking through. This remodel was most certainly an 100% a downgrade. Their pop-up store they had for a few months was way better than this. I wish they would make the store more organized, carry more entertainment items (Not toys, shirts, candy, and just all the other useless junk I could get from Toys R Us or other candy stores around). It's disappointing to see how downhill this store went... It's tragic. read more

FYE has been my favorite store. I used to go all the time to browse such a great selection of CD's and movies. I would be able to find my bands here that no other store would carry. I would regularly use their specials and deals of Buy 3 Used get the 4th free type of deal and would walk out of the store spending maybe $20 for 5,6,7 used CD's or DVD's. Then of course the FYE in my city closed and I had to resort to online purchases which was okay. I jut moved to the LA area and was excited to find FYE again. Went to this location in the store in Montclair. VERY DISAPPOINTED. 75% of the entire store was clothing/memorabilia/crappy gifts and useless products. 15% of the store had DVD's and CD's -- the main reason I ever go. And the rest was electronic gear and Vinyl records. Let down to say the least, I did find some of my bands tho, but only a couple CD's available most of which I already have. Remember the days when FYE had an entire section for rock and metal and hip hop? Now it's all crammed together in a tiny section. Remember when they actually had headphones and you scanned a CD and could listen to songs before purchasing? The good ol days. I'll still use the online shopping option but I won't visit this location. I'm gonna check out the other SoCal stores and hope that I can find a worthy location for my business. I miss being able to go to a store and buy the stuff I want. Online is great for getting hard to find stuff and you avoid the long lines and chaos of angry shoppers, but I still miss hanging out in FYE stores for hours checking out music and being able to purchase a product immediately. With online you have to wait unless you wanna pay extra for quicker delivery. If I want to purchase weird and fun T-shirts I may go to Hot Topic, if I want posters I'll go there too maybe FYE but I go to FYE for the deals on CD's and DVD's and the great selection. Preordered some fye exclusive pops and never got called about them. I called a few times and they kept telling me they would call me when they came in. I went in person and they lied telling me they didn't have enough for their preorders. Heard from one of my pop collector friends they had those hard to find exclusives on the floor. No point in preordering pops if you can just walk in and buy someone else's preorder. Crappy customer service. read more

Trust me, I had a whole stack of DVDs ready for check out that the very helpful clerk helped me find. Titles for which I had been looking for quite some time! So imagine my chagrin when I got to the checkout and the cashier said brightly, "Oh, I'm sorry, we don't accept checks." Great. What is the thing with checks these days? Disney doesn't accept checks, FYE doesn't accept checks. You would think that with all the fallout from Target and others over hacking credit card information, it would make retailers think twice about refusing checks when e-check makes the money available as fast as credit cards without the risk. Walgreens, Petsmart, CVS, etc, already have e-check equipment, and you give them the paper check, not even filled out, they run it and you sign the authorization and bam, you're done. Time to step up, folks, or continue to have people like me leaving a whole bunch of sales sitting on your checkout counter. read more

INSULTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. ACCUSED ME OF BEING A THIEF JUST BECAUSE OF HOW I LOOK! I will never shop here again. I used to bring used DVDs in regularly for store credit, always giving them more business and product. This last time the manager refused to buy them because HE SAID THEY WERE TOO NEW! He said it made him uncomfortable and basically implied I had stolen them, even though I had proof this was not the case. He insisted that they don't buy newer used movies. When I asked when they would stop being new enough, he wouldn't give me a straight answer, saying 4 weeks, 6 weeks or maybe 8 weeks. This is even though their website clearly said they would buy these specific titles and he insisted that they had no clear policy. Either he thought I was a thief or wanted me to wait until they were worth less and he could pay me less money for them. He was either insulting me or ripping me off. Either way I will never enter this store again, despite spending thousands a year in the past. I used to do all my Christmas shopping here, but never again! His name is PAUL MCNELLIS, and he somehow thinks that being a store manager gives him the right to judge people unfairly and turn away business based on his prejudice. DON'T GIVE THIS JERK YOUR MONEY. I've never felt so discriminated against in my life and hope he gets fired or this business is forced to close. read more
