Just a recommendation...and may be asking too much but music would have been pleasant or something in the background. It was me and just one other guy there and 1. It's always weird when there's no sound and you're just browsing with just you and the staff are there and it's verrry quiet 2. The other customer was on the phone and can hear his entire conversation across the store - not to say it was a bad convo, but just speaks on how quiet it is in there.

When I arrived around 12:50 I noticed there was a large line of about ten or fifteen people, some parents and kids, others alone. Despite multiple conflicting online sources, this store opens at 1PM-at least on Saturdays-and I was a bit taken back when I saw an older lady walk up the stairs and open shop. Although her arrival at some minutes after 1 was a bit odd, it didn't bother me too badly. After all, the locals seemed to act as if lining up at the store early was common. Once I got in, the shelves were lined with figures from Neca TMNT and monsters, McFarlane DC and Spawn, as well as Hasbro Black series and Legends. Their funko pop selection may be their biggest! Anywho, my first gripe would be the setup of the shop: There are tables which house bins of loose figures directly in front of pegged shelves, and I can see it being hard for adults on the shorter side- 5,9 below like myself-and especially kids to get sift through the pegged figures. As for their comic selection, it seems huge. I was on a bit of a tight schedule so I didn't have too much time to look, but did notice some deep cut issues for people like myself such as complete runs of Batman Long Halloween and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. The woman who opened was constantly checking in on the huge influx of folks here, asking if we needed help finding things or getting them down. She also handled checking out the customers really well, ensuring they received either digital or physical receipts for their purchases. My guess is that this would be the owner Curtis' mother, and it doesn't seem like she does this often, but certainly seems that she cares about the business. I ended up leaving with 3 lose McFarlane figures: Three Jokers Batgirl, A death in the family Joker, and Gold Label Rebirth Martian Manhunter. They're in pretty good condition, no paints chips or anything of the sort, just some broken in joints. I paid $53.50 for them including tax, and after some reflection feel it was a BIT overpriced. Average retail for a DC Multiverse figure is $20, and they were priced at $15 for Manhunter and Batgirl, and $20 for Joker. They came complete with all accessories, but not their figure stands or bio cards. Knowing I could've paid $60 retail for the three complete and in mint condition does hurt a bit. Overall I would say ReCollect is a pretty good shop. I see Curtis on socials unboxing toys in the shop a bunch, which I why I assume he sells them lose as for other to "Re collect" his opened toys. Maybe if the in box variety was a bit wider, the pegs were more accessible and prices of opened figures were lowered, or given their complete boxed contents, it would be a 5/5. Hopefully in my next bout, I'll be able to meet Curtis and have some more time to dig through the meet of his inventory.

I personally love game over I stop by weekly to bi-weekly to check out whats new or what I missed the last time. Every time I go into the shop I find something new! The staff is passionate and kind. They also have so much more like collectibles, musical equipment and much more. You can definitely kill a few hours here if you aren't careful. So much to see. I did find a couple books I wanted at a good price. I also found a used computer keyboard I needed. The books are somewhat organized but finding specific authors can be challenging. Their book collection is extensive. The staff was friendly and there is plenty of parking. I'll be going back to spend more time. I didn't have a lot of time to spend. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. Parts Unknown The Comic Book Store in Greensboro, North Carolina is a perfect example. I immediately found a side street parking space and parked my pearl white Lexus there and walked over to the store. It was a pleasant walk and the building where the store was located had an interesting graffiti on the outside, side wall. Inside I was greeted by a friendly and very knowledgeable employee who has also been a good friend of the owner for years. He told me how the owner John Hitchcock had owned and operated this business for over 36 years with around 25 years in this location and how the business originally opened up in Cotton Mill Square in 1989. How Hitchcock had always had a passion for comic books and started collecting them when he was 10. He started selling comic books in a store downtown 37 years ago and this led to his opening his own store. Hitchcock's favorite comic book creator was Alex Toth, an artist who had been well known for his expressive line and masterful storytelling. Hitchcock and him had been friends and collaborated on a book called Dear John: The Alex Toth Doodle Book. He showed me a copy of the book that was being sold there. The store had an inviting atmosphere and as I walked through the store it was like entering another world. The uniqueness of this comic book shop was that it exclusively specializes in comic books and books about comic books. It had in its inventory some rare and expensive ones like The Invincible Iron Man selling for $2,000, a Green Lantern one selling for $1,500, and a Special 25th Anniversary Issue of the Amazing Spiderman selling for $1,200, among other well known and rare ones in excellent condition. College students enjoy visiting the store because it's like a live history museum of comic books and also carries many of the current looked-after ones. And the store brings back happy memories to old timers and makes valuable merchandise accessible to comic book collectors of all ages. I highly recommend it if ever your in the area. Formerly the Record Exchange, they shut down for remodeling, the interior is now cool blue that extends up to the ceiling, making the place seem airier; is nice. They still stock a passel of used CDs, DVDs, and some vinyl. Prices are a wee bit higher than some outlets, but it's local! I picked up the the latest Los Lobos, "Tin Can Trust." "Burn It Down" with Susan Tedesci on backing vocals is just what one loves about David Hidalgo and co., but I digress. A chat with the manager promised more stock in soon, so come on back and support a local vendor.

There were lots of great record shops in Charlotte with new and old vinyls and I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to find anything like it here in Winston. I didn't want to shop at a chain store for records, even if they carried them, so I trusted yelp and found earshot! I hate the shopping center this place is in because it's so crowded during the day, but that doesn't really matter. I didn't expect it to be so close to my work, but it's close enough that I can make it there on my lunch break and be back within the hour. This is a good and bad thing. Good, because I now have an awesome record store with a great selection and helpful staff that's super close to me! Bad, because I will probably end up spending all my money here! I picked up an Explosions in the Sky album and In the Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel. I am beyond stoked to listen to them, and they seemed to be in superb condition when I examined them. I had to stop myself from buying Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins because I'd already spent enough! They sell more than just records, but if you're a vinyl fiend like me, stepping into this shop is like stepping into the gates of heaven. As another reviewer said, they are a bit more expensive than amazon. This is true, but to me, when you add in shipping costs and the time you have to wait for your vinyl to be mailed, the extra few bucks is worth it. There's something magical about going to a record store, picking up some vinyls and being able to listen to them in the same day. Plus, buying vinyls on amazon doesn't help keep these awesome shops (mostly family owned) in business! The difference in cost compared to amazon is only $2-$5 if that.
