Walked in & was like WOW !!! This place has a bit of everything from books to pop-culture items and everything in-between. I was 7th Heaven and browsed for hours. The store was bright and pretty clean, Staff was friendly. The prices were awesome, especially for the used records. We live in the DC area and they ask outrageous prices. Most of the records were in decent shape. My biggest complaint was how some of comic books & records were priced (not the cost) the method - they used printed labels directly on the comic/album. Not sure how you remove without damaging the cover. It was mainly on the albums & bargain comics, but still, it blew my mind as it ruins it. (In my opinion) I was able to find some books I needed, and a train car that I wanted. Like I stated, they have a little of everything that makes life great.

This place has everything I got 3 Funko pops for under 25$ They had vinyls, cds, dvdd, collectible, and electronic. I saw a x-box for 7$ but it was just the box. I will definitely come back when I'm in winston Salem.

Wow, they have everything. All things books, music, figurines, dolls and toys even clothes. I could spend hours here. Whenever I get a record player one day, I'm going to spend another few hours looking through their selections of records, which is quite impressive. Aisles and aisles of used books and some new as well. I'm trying to download books more these days but nothing like a good paper hardback. Think I'll come back before a vacation and grab a few. Wonderful place. Everyone should check this out.

Wow, what an amazing store. I used to stop by the McKays in Greensboro from time to time, but this was my first visit to the wind to store. Honestly, I was blown away right when I walked in, this place is massive! No matter what you're looking for, I'm willing to bet you'll find it here! Known as a used bookstore, McKay's is so much more than that, selling used book, movies, puzzles, board games, video games (for every system), cds/vinyl, action figures and collectibles, and even music equipment. This store was massive, well organized, and well stocked. Rows and rows and rows of books sorted by genre, same with dvds and video games. Pricing varies a good bit, depending on the condition I'd the item, I assume the supply they have on hand d and other factors. We picked up a few puzzles while visiting, but also passed through other sections, it was hard not to spend more money here than we did. They also buy all of the items listed above...already ready, watched it enough times, don't want it anymore...bring it to them and they'll make you an offer. Great store, highly recommend!!

    The massive book collection.

I love McKay's. I typically spend over an hour there, hunting for jewels. It's so much fun. The book selection is massive and the prices are typically $2-$5 per book. You can go home with a stack, and I often do. If TV, movies, or video games are more to your liking, they have those too. Don't just look in the video game section for your system either, have a gander at the "bargain" section and be amazed. I could rave about this place, and I do, often! As someone who would prefer a book over a party, this is where I go to treat myself.

Down-to-earth cashier rings me up my little piece of nostalgia; Sega Genesis video game.

Albums. Art. Audio/Visual Components. Books. Candy. Collector's Items. DVDs. Instruments. Movies. Music. Video-Games from way back in the day to current! All of this (in alphabetical order) and MORE awaits ANYone looking to satisfy their personal geek culture! I canNOT believe this was my first-time-ever perusing and patronizing this magnificent store of mostly used, rare finds. It surely won't be my last visit, however! Think of of eBay we're an actual store. Is everything in the store affordable? Well... it depends on what you're shopping for. Nonetheless, it's undeniably worth checking out. I was able to find and purchase a retro Sega Genesis video-game that I used to love and play for hours as a teenager. The cashiers were more than helpful and kind which is why it's no surprise at all to me how they attract shoppers of ALL ages at McKay's. So... don't waste another second, load your entire family into the SUV and head to McKay's for gifts that keep on giving.

Formerly the Record Exchange, they shut down for remodeling, the interior is now cool blue that extends up to the ceiling, making the place seem airier; is nice. They still stock a passel of used CDs, DVDs, and some vinyl. Prices are a wee bit higher than some outlets, but it's local! I picked up the the latest Los Lobos, "Tin Can Trust." "Burn It Down" with Susan Tedesci on backing vocals is just what one loves about David Hidalgo and co., but I digress. A chat with the manager promised more stock in soon, so come on back and support a local vendor.

This is a brilliant little record shop…read more I recently got a record player and I'm looking to expand my record collection. There were lots of great record shops in Charlotte with new and old vinyls and I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to find anything like it here in Winston. I didn't want to shop at a chain store for records, even if they carried them, so I trusted yelp and found earshot! I hate the shopping center this place is in because it's so crowded during the day, but that doesn't really matter. I didn't expect it to be so close to my work, but it's close enough that I can make it there on my lunch break and be back within the hour. This is a good and bad thing. Good, because I now have an awesome record store with a great selection and helpful staff that's super close to me! Bad, because I will probably end up spending all my money here! I picked up an Explosions in the Sky album and In the Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel. I am beyond stoked to listen to them, and they seemed to be in superb condition when I examined them. I had to stop myself from buying Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins because I'd already spent enough! They sell more than just records, but if you're a vinyl fiend like me, stepping into this shop is like stepping into the gates of heaven. As another reviewer said, they are a bit more expensive than amazon. This is true, but to me, when you add in shipping costs and the time you have to wait for your vinyl to be mailed, the extra few bucks is worth it. There's something magical about going to a record store, picking up some vinyls and being able to listen to them in the same day. Plus, buying vinyls on amazon doesn't help keep these awesome shops (mostly family owned) in business! The difference in cost compared to amazon is only $2-$5 if that.

Having a Starbucks on premises is a nice touch. As other Yelpers have noted, unfortunately this location has felt it necessary to add numerical code locks to the restrooms. I understand the reasoning behind it, but the logistics of needing to use the restroom at the back of the store then needing to traverse to the front of the store to get the code, and back again, is asking a lot and will cause my visits to be cut short.

The discount and earned rewards are worth the cost of membership. I could spend all day there, perusing the various things that interest me. I am not happy with their change to adding a code to get into the bathroom. I realize they had issues with homeless people misusing the bathroom, but as a rectal cancer survivor, I don't have the time to hunt for an employee to get the code. I was literally seconds away from a bowel accident today, then had to turn around and find an employee. I was lucky, there was a guy shelving books close to the bathrooms. What if he hadn't been there, though? If I had to walk to the customer service desk or the register to get the code, I would have definitely had an accident. My suggestion to anybody that has bathroom issues, or small children, ask for the code as soon as you walk in the door. That way, you don't have to hunt for an employee and risk accidents. That is what I will be doing from now on.
