Brought my 2022 Mazda 3 in for a brake inspection due to a humming noise when lightly braking. Paid $120 for the inspection. The technician's written assessment: "Brakes are 50% life." When I asked for specific measurements, he said all four pads are at 6mm. By industry standards, 6mm pads have 1.5-2 years of life remaining and do not need replacement. Despite this, the verbal recommendation was to replace all 4 pads and 2 rotors for $440. When I asked how long I could continue driving, the answer was vague: "1 to 5 months depending on driving style." The claim that "all four pads are at 6mm" doesn't make physical sense. Front brakes carry 60-70% of braking force and typically wear about twice as fast as rear brakes. On a 2022 Mazda 3 with 51,000 miles, front pads should be noticeably thinner than rear pads, about a 2-3mm difference is normal. "All around 6mm" would require front and rear to wear at the exact same rate, which contradicts basic vehicle physics. This makes me suspect the inspection wasn't actually performed with proper measurements. CUSTOMER BEWARE: I found this place probably like most of you.. the reviews seemed good and all seemed well. I called and they didn't even ask me any questions over the phone . They didn't ask me absolutely anything about my car. Didn't ask what the make and model was, what year it was, absolutely no further questions about my issues. Nothing. Didn't even ask me for my name. Just told me 10am the next day. I dropped my car off the next day, and same thing. The only thing extra they asked for was my name. 2 hours later they call back with an insane quote for just an air filter and spark plugs. Total was over $1000! I said absolutely no way I'll come and pick my car up. He said ok but you have to pay a $180 inspection fee. Note that this was NEVER mentioned over the phone in person or in paper work! Nothing! I didn't sign a single thing so why am I being told only after the inspection? Some places charge and some don't, but there's ALWAYS paper work involved. I should have called the cops right there and then. I was already insulted by the insane prices. Seriously beware of this place they'll try to upcharge you with insane labor costs and try to con you with petty charges for minimal work. A business needs to deal in paperwork. The whole experience seemed sketchy and under the table. AVOID!!! read more

This was what my friend experienced and had to say: "I needed to get an oil change. Currently G&B Auto Repair are taking appointments. However I had a conflicted schedule, so Gerson (I assumed is the boss) said that I can come in whenever and that he would take care of me. This was such a relief. One of the hardest things to find in this industry is honesty I recently purchased a car that I found out the next day having a knocking sound from the engine bay -- bad deal overall I should've thought better when checking the car lol but I took it to two different mechanics and both told me it was the engine and it needed it to be replaced. Finally was able to get it to Gerson for a final chance because why not check it since I just refused to believe I just got a lemon lol They found out the issue wasn't the engine at all, but a part from the timing belt assembly.
