I was in need of getting new brake pads and rotors for my 2020 BMW X5. Was getting quotes from a couple of other places but getting the quote from RTMotorworks was thorough. I was hoping I just needed brake pads for the front and hopefully not all 4 wheels at the time. They were very responsive and the quote was comparable to other places, if not better. Decided to take it in on a Friday in the morning. Checked my wheels and told me I just needed the front brake pads and rotors replaced. The back was still good. Sigh of relief somewhat. They were able to get the pads and rotors replaced for little under 3 hours. Time went by and they were updating me during the whole time. Great service and team here. PROBLEM: ALIGNMENT ISSUES, CUSTOMER SERVICE, ACCOUNTABILITY When I first tried to leave a review, my account was somehow blocked from posting specifically for RTM, while I could still review other businesses. I contacted Yelp, and by coincidence, the representative I spoke with was also RTM's Yelp rep. He said it was strange that I couldn't post only for RTM. After I explained my situation, he advised me not to leave a review and instead take the matter to small claims court--which I did. During the hearing, the judge seemed to understand my side, but the ruling ultimately favored RTM. Despite being advised not to post this, I'm sharing my experience here because the situation still doesn't sit right with me--especially given Yelp's controversial review practices. On 10/1/25, my rear right adjustable control arm snapped. My car has aftermarket wheels, tires, and suspension components, so a precise alignment is critical to ensure proper fitment without rubbing the fender. I initially went to TM Auto (located across from RTM) for the control arm replacement. After installation, TM took my car to RTM for alignment. I specifically asked them to match the rear right alignment to the rear left, which was set at -2.8 degrees. When I went to pick up my car, I immediately noticed the rear right wheel did not match the rear left. The camber was visibly off. I pointed this out to the technician, but he insisted the alignment was correct and that there were no machine or human errors. After repeated requests, they put the car back on the rack, but instead of rechecking, two additional technicians came out and dismissed my concerns with questionable explanations: "Toyota made the fenders uneven." "Your control arm is made in Taiwan/China--what do you expect?" Despite putting the car back on the rack, they never rechecked the alignment. They simply removed the car and stood by their original claim. With no resolution, I had no choice but to drive the car home. Because the alignment was incorrect, my tires rubbed against the fender the entire way. The next day, I found heat damage, paint cracking, and visible wear on the fender. I came back the next day to talk to Richard (the owner) hoping he would recheck everything, but it was apparent he was "too busy"--despite clearly having time to talk with other customers and then continue working on another car, while ignoring me. I waited outside RTM for over an hour trying to speak with him. When the TM Auto manager asked if he had seen the damage, his response was, "Yeah, so what?"--with no concern at all. After is when I left, and was forced to go to another shop to realign--more driving, more damage done. I used a camber gauge and measured -2.8 degrees on the rear left and -2.0 degrees on the rear right. To confirm, I took the car to my trusted shop, Chewerks in La Habra, where they verified the rear right camber was indeed -2.0 degrees and did not match the left side. Their measurements matched mine exactly. Because RTM refused to recheck or correct their work, this improper alignment caused damage to my car. The rear left side tucks properly, while the rear right sticks out about half an inch, which led directly to the rubbing and damage. I had clear documentation and evidence, but the court still ruled in RTM's favor. I chose not to appeal to avoid spending more time on the matter. A nearby body shop, Cenco Auto Body, quoted over $1,800 to repair the fender (with another shop giving a similar estimate), confirming the extent of the damage. What could have been a simple recheck turned into a costly mistake. Despite everything, RTM did not offer any compensation or attempt to make things right. Seeing RTM's highly rated Yelp profile made their response even more surprising. They're quick to take your money with a smile when things go well, but when issues arise--as in my case--they deny responsibility and make no effort to make things right (In my case, they didn't take money directly, but a receipt was given to TM Auto, and I had to pay TM Auto--which is the same as paying RTM directly). TM Auto went as far as offering RTM to help cover the repair costs, but RTM still refused. TM Auto didn't have to step in for someone else's mistake, yet they still tried--that says everything. Richard (the owner) had my contact information through the small claims process, yet he never made any effort to contact me--even before we went to assigned court date. After what happened, I'm relieved I didn't bring my other cars first--especially since those cars are of higher value. It seems RTM has many satisfied customers, along with a smaller number of unhappy ones. Hopefully, you don't end up in the latter group like me. FWIW: Following the incident, I contacted Hunter to verify when RTM's rack was last calibrated. Abel (rep) advised that its calibration was set to expire later that month. This raises the possibility that their rack may have been out of calibration. read more

I took my vehicle to RTM for an alignment in mid-to-late February because the left rear tire had severe inner-edge wear. After the alignment, I was told the car did not have adjustable camber arms, but that the toe had been brought into much better shape. I appreciated the explanation and the suggestion of aftermarket parts. What I did not appreciate was discovering a little over a month later that the steering wheel was left off-center by about 4 degrees to the right on a flat road. The car drives straight, but the wheel is visibly crooked. This was not an issue when I bought the car (it was something I specifically checked for at the time). I contacted RTM and asked them to re-check the steering wheel centering. Instead of standing behind their work, they told me I would have to pay another $150 for a full alignment. I was not asking for a brand-new service. I was asking them to correct a steering wheel centering issue that appeared after the alignment they performed. They told me that if I had returned within a month, they would have checked it, but I was only 6 days past that point. Policies are one thing, but if a repair fixes one problem but in so doing creates another, that should be addressed reasonably. Charging full price again to correct an issue tied to their prior work is not good customer service. UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO 4/20/26 FROM RTM: I understand that RTM does not offer a warranty on alignments, and I am aware that potholes, curbs, and suspension wear can affect alignment over time. My review was not claiming that RTM offers a warranty or that RTM is responsible for every issue indefinitely. That is not realistic. My point is much narrower: after the alignment performed on 2/19/2026, I later discovered, in the days leading up to 3/25/2026, that the steering wheel was off-center even though the vehicle still drove straight. When I contacted RTM on the 25th, I was not asking for a free full alignment. I was asking whether they could re-check a steering wheel centering issue that I discovered after the service was performed. The owner is welcome to post our text messages. To the owner's question, "How would I know if you haven't hit anything that's just enough to throw off the alignment?" I did not hit anything that would have caused me to suspect a new alignment issue. What disappointed me was that, instead of offering even a courtesy inspection or re-check, I was told I would need to pay full price for another alignment. I've brought my e39 here a few times, most recently to have all four door lock actuators replaced. I only needed 2 or 3 locks fixed but RTM's prices were very reasonable, so I figured I'd swap all 4. For context, the e39 is my late father's car and has only 55,000 miles -- so I take pride in keeping it in great condition. The airbag light came on after I left and also I noticed a couple door handles seemed a bit loose. Even though it was almost 8PM, Richard told me to come back. They opened the door panel, re-set the passenger airbag and cleared the code (this is a pretty common issue when the door panel is opened). They also tightened up the door handles and now everything is like brand new. I really appreciate how these guys don't get annoyed if I'm being meticulous when testing out a new installation or repair. I'm sure it's because they're even more meticulous than I am. Brought my car to RTM for TPMS issue that wasn't being solved by any amount of relearning or resetting. Powder coating company messed up my tpms. Too far away to go to them in Santa Ana. RTM installed new tpms sensors and programmed them. It didn't work the first time out, did the whole relearning thing again. they reached out to check up on how it was and I let them know it still wasn't working. They asked me to come bring it back and the second time they fixed it and now my tpms finally works again. But now... I know. I live in San Diego and his labor estimates have been close to half what I can find locally. So... for big services I just might have to drive out for this. If you're in the area (or even if you're not) your first quote should be from Esteban. Super painless to get an appointment set up (just text the number and he'll respond) and he finished faster than the original estimate. I had family drop off and pick up the car so I wasn't even there in person and everything went flawlessly I'm really bummed that this was my first euro shop experience because now everything else is just... too expensive and cannot compare. Plus, if you bring your parts, he'll install them for you. The local shops near me won't touch customer supplied parts which also increases the cost and for some of these euro cars, OEM (or better) is the only choice. First time my car went into a shop that wasn't the dealership because I was searching for a while to find a good shop to go to. I'm so happy that someone recommended this place to me. The service was quick, they were honest, and it was right next to my gym so it worked out. Service was about an hour, hour and a half? I don't remember since I wasn't on my phone. On the flip side, i've had my car at the dealership for like 4-5 hours for a routine oil change even though I dropped my car there in the morning. Car: 1997 BMW 328i Service: Oil Change I have been looking for a new place to service my car since my last places upped their prices to 170 for a basic oil change. I used yelp to send out multiple request for quotes and got many back. After looking at the reviews and comments i choose RTMotorworks. I spoke to Rick and he gave me a very good number for the service, said 1 hour and I was scheduled for the next day. After the less than hour service one of the techs, Kenny, told me the car was ready and answered any questions and concerns i had. Then when i paid i brought up some of the issues and got an estimate in less than a couple minutes. Also, on the way out Kenny noticed my reverse light was out. He replaced it quickly and it was free of charge. After getting home, i checked their work are and it was actually cleaner than when i brought it in.
