I got rear ended two times in 6 months and we took both vehicles to this shop for estimates on repairs and both times they were ultimately deemed losses. The first time I understood, the car was old. I had no problems with the service and returned to them again for my next car. I had issues with the service from the very beginning, some of which were also due to lack of coordination with insurance companies, but overall I did not like the shop's handling of it. Insurance sent over a request for a work order, but then erroneously cancelled it. I called to set up an appointment to bring in my car and G&C told me they could see the work order but it was cancelled. I set the appointment date and contacted the insurance to say the autobody shop thought this work order was cancelled. Insurance guy texts me back that it is uncancelled and then set me up with a rental car to start the same day as the appointment. Well, I went to the appointment a week later and g&c said the order had never been uncancelled. This ultimately is the insurance's fault I guess, but some sort of failure of communication between all parties took place, and I wasted my time bringing in a car to an appointment where they didn't have permission to evaluate it it. I left and got things straightened out-- brought my car back 2 days later, not a big deal, and the insurance approved the repair estimates. Then g&c increased their repair estimates, but it was still covered. Next g&c had to get a part for my car which took time. Then that part came damaged/not up to par. Great, thanks for looking out for me. They had to order another new part, which took like ten days to arrive, while my car is just sitting there and I'm still in a rental. Finally it came in and then they started to actually work on my car and suddenly they told the insurance my car was a total loss. This turned into a big ordeal where that insurance company had to tap out and we had to change to our insurance policy covering the claim, but during that whole process NO ONE from the autobody shop bothered to call me or reply to my texts for nearly two weeks. I specifically texted them for updates/explanations and was not responded to for days and days and then I had to call THEM for them to explain to me it wasn't just the cost of repairs that increased, my car was irreparable. This car was only a few years old and had 12k miles on it. I don't know what happened to it after, but I imagine it still had life to it, since it was still perfectly drivable. I don't know cars, but it probably sold well as a salvage car. Sus. Anyway, this shop kept my car for a MONTH AND A HALF, didn't communicate with me for the last two weeks, got paid to store the car while doing nothing most of that time, and wasted my time by not accurately accessing the damage. I am not someone who normally would write a negative review, but looking back I really am dissatisfied with my experience with this business and God forbid anything happens to my new car, I will not be returning here again. read more

I only came here since this is the closest Tesla-certified repair shop. I gave them only 1 star because there is no option for a lower rating. The service that was required was super simple. Only one plastic trim piece needed to be replaced and each panel on one the side of the car needed to be buffed. The bumper cover needed some paint. When I came back to pick up the car, the trim piece wasn't repaired or replaced. The bumper cover was sprayed but there was clearly dirt particles in the paint. And they never buffed the scuff marks on the driver side door. Truth is they didn't have the plastic trim piece. It took 1 week to get it. I had to take my car back. It should have taken a few hours and I get a call at almost closing time to pick up the car. I recommend no one take their car to this repair shop. read more

I used the AI "assistant" to set up an estimate. On my first visit, I probably should have known to jump ship when the woman working there was dropping f bombs before 8am. They took pictures & sent me an estimate. I was in a minor fender bender. They wanted to replace my rear bumper with an after market bumper & claimed that it wasn't cost effective to repair it. When I advised that my insurance company wanted me to go through the at fault insurance company, that's when it really went downhill. The at fault insurance company assured me multiple times that G & C had what they needed. No joke - I went back & forth between the two with each other claiming they "didn't know what they were doing" 5 different lengthy phone calls, plus my own insurance agent called them three different times. One was the day before my appointment to get it fixed and the at fault GEICO agent assured me they would contact G&C to make sure everything was good to go for my next day appointment to get the car fixed. I texted G&C three days before my appointment (after quite a bit of text communication) to see if I needed to bring the car earlier for better pictures or if they needed anything else before my appointment. I got no response, so assumed my appointment was good to go. I had a rental car reserved. When I showed up for the appointment, I was told it would be a few minutes. I then heard them say they were going to call GEICO and they didn't have what they needed. Really?!? 5 days & you can't contact GEICO for whatever it is you need? You can't call, email or text me back & tell me you still don't have what you need? I tried calling the adjuster that I had spoke to the day before that had assured me they were going to make sure my appointment was good to go and as I was leaving a message for them - I was informed by G & C that they were still on the phone trying to get "what they needed" from GEICO - then they proceeded to chat with whoever they were on the phone with about a different (Tesla Cyber truck) vehicle. I asked if I should just return to work and they could reach out whenever they got what they needed & the reply was: "I don't want to waste your time." I texted on my way back to work to please let me know when they got whatever they needed & never heard back. You already did waste a ton of my time. You didn't communicate. You didn't make an effort, nor did you seem interested in actually repairing my vehicle - which is fine but please be clear from the beginning that you don't want to do business with me. I had to cancel my rental reservation, which made it clear that G & C had not communicated with them at all anyways. I got an appointment with another auto body shop within a day that agreed to repair (not replace) my bumper instantly & helped me with my rental. They had zero issue getting "what they needed" from GEICO. If all you want to work on is Teslas, then only be a Tesla repair shop - please don't pose as an any vehicle insurance auto body shop and/or let incoming patrons know you are not interested in helping them from the get go. read more

Unacceptable service. Fixed the dent, but chipped paint to metal and gouged trim. The Good: ​Service was cordial initially. ​Timeline was met for the original dent repair. ​The Bad: ​New Damage: My Model 3 came back with new damage to the paint and window liner that was not there before. ​Suspicious Behavior: At pickup, the car was parked so close to a chain-link fence I couldn't check the driver's side. ​Zero Accountability: I have photos from drop-off proving the damage wasn't there. I showed them this proof. They ignored my calls for a week, and eventually said they would not help other than applying touch-up paint. ​I cannot recommend a shop that damages a customer's vehicle and then refuses to make it right despite photographic evidence. This review is an at-fault driver insurance (GEICO) repair estimate process for a Tesla. I'll start with the positives. Pros: The staff was cordial and patient (somewhat). You can get an appt easily and promptly. You can always reach someone by phone. Cons: - Inaccurate hook. During my initial call with a male staff, he said it was the best to go with them since they are GEICO and Tesla approved, without mentioning the complications I experienced shortly after (detailed below). - Your interest comes last. Apparently they can adjust their labor rates up, and voluntarily reduce the GEICO approved OEM part rates included in the estimate of records, so the only loser out of this process is YOU. - Wasted time. Their process mentioned above was not explained clearly up front, leading to wasted time and starting over. Maybe this is how this process works?! Anyway -- it was confusing and a lesson learned for me so I'm sure it will help a lot of people here. read more

I really do adore all of my coworkers. We are truly a team that cannot be matched. However, twice in less than a year two of my coworkers have hit my car while I was parked in front of my office. Too be fair they drive very large trucks and I have a small SUV and they just didn't pay attention. What ever the reasons are that they damaged my car, it was all an accident. I was referred to Bernal by my boss who said that this company did work for a previous "government agency" that he had worked for in the past. Bernal was recommended as being fast and efficient and fair. That was great news because I had gone to other local body shops and the price was reasonable but the wait time to get repaired was ridiculous. Bernal Auto could get me in within a day of my quote and the work done in just a few days. Both instances that I came in for my body work I was very happy. Fast and efficient is my number goal in life and Bernal met my needs. If this ever happens again to me, which at this point I'm sure it will, you know where Ill be going. read more

Management is bad they will not own up to their mistakes and try to blame it on you as a customer. I wouldn't return here if they offered me free service had to take my car back and forth because they messed up something's and blamed me for it than I take it to a mechanic and everything checks out Good. Went to this place about 3-4 months ago, they make it seem like they want to help you out and provide good service. But really they are trying to find ways to save themselves money in any way. Even trying to tell the customer false information like if it's not a direct impact to your wheel then you don't need an alignment. When even the most minor accidents can cause issues with your alignment/ suspension or steering components. They go ahead and even tell me more false information like oh it's not your alignment you need new wheels. Which I go ahead and buy new wheels, now the 2 right wheels are both worn out while the two left side wheels are perfectly fine. I go and call the shop, they just feed me bunch of lies and information just to get me to stop calling. On top of that I had to wait a whole week before they even remembered to call me back. I called them 3-4 times and each time they say they will forward the message which they didn't. I had to go and call them which just shows even more how much they are down bad. On top of that the bumper they fixed isn't even painted right, there's places on my front bumper that was missing paint/falling paint. They will lie and tell you what they want you to believe. Would not recommend this place to get your car fixed through insurance. read more

Will was extremely helpful, kept me in the loop with regular communications, was always available for questions, and was very honest. He made it simple for me to get my repair handled. When you're stressed about a car issue what you really want is someone like Will - kind, thoughtful, thorough, patient, and there when you need him. G&C also seamlessly took care of everything with my insurance company after my initial claim was submitted. I didn't have to do anything after my initial claim. My insurance company was the one who recommended G&C Auto Body and I am glad they did. Thieves in sheep's clothing is what comes to mind when I think of Bernal Auto Body. When my 2012 California Special Mustang was t-boned, I was tasked by my insurance company to get an estimate. I asked Walnut Creek Ford who they contracted with for body work. They said Bernal Auto Body. I was unpleasantly surprised upon my arrival and meeting Laurie Bernal, whose holier than thou attitude was immediately made me wonder why anyone would ever voluntarily enter this "Little Shop of Horrors". In between tirades, I was given papers to sign that I later learned contained a clause in the fine print that legally obligated me to pay $75 a day for "storage". I drove the vehicle there for an estimate and would have driven it back home with had I known about the extortionate "storage" charges. I could have gotten my Mustang a room at the Hilton for the same price. Laurie Bernal then told me to leave the car there so it would be available to the insurance adjuster. Following her advice eventually cost me nearly $3500. When I asked to take my vehicle home, Bernal Auto Body informed me that either I paid $3500 for "storage" or they would put a mechanics lien on my vehicle and sell it. #RIPOFF, #AUTOBODYTHIEVES ***PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT*** Please don't ever take your damaged vehicle to Bernal Auto Body. I can't imagine why Walnut Creek Ford, a very good company, would have anything to do with Bernal Auto Body. In the name of customer service, I plead that they dissolve any business relationship that exists. read more

Bernals is the worst body shop I have ever encountered. My 2012 Mustang California Special was in an accident. Allstate insurance took over two months to decide to have the car repaired, and caused Bernal to do a few hours of inspection and damage estimates. In the end I decided not to have the car repaired and asked Bernal to tell me what costs the incurred so that I could get my car back. I was given a bill for $3492.16 for storage @$75 a day and three hours of labor @$89 an hour. What a ripoff. I expected to pay for the time they actually worked, but not to be ripped off for $3000. Don't ever take a car there...they are licenced to steal. read more

Recently we wanted to repair our nine year old CTS that had come down with a bit of parking lot rash. Lauri and Larry were totally professional. They restored the scrapes and blended the new paint invisibly into the old paint. Since the paint was "diamond trim-coat" this could not an easy task. They were true to their timeline and were great communicators. So often, businesses will over promise and under deliver. Not these folks. I brought my 2017 SIlverado by because the tonneau cover I had just bought had swirl marks in it so the dealer had me go out and get an estimate. I met with Larry who took a look at my top and told me that the swirls could be removed so he sent me an estimate via email. Weeks later, the dealer sent a check directly to Bernal Auto Body and I dropped off the truck on 11/13/19 where I turned my keys over to Larry (he told me it would be done in 3 to 3.5 hours). True to his word, I came back and it was ready. The top looks fabulous. From beginning to end, this shop was professional, customer-service oriented and delivered my truck in the time frame they quoted. Thank You Larry and team!!!! read more

Got estimate from Bernals and was moving forward.My insurance company gave a little higher estimate Lori said they would stand by there estimate but when I went to drop off my truck they adjusted there estimate to amount insurance estimate was .I talked to her about this and it wasnt a very significant amount but Bernals saw a way to jack up profit.Unfortunately for them Im the wrong guy for that and consider what was done as dishonest.Never give this place your insurance estimate ..bottom line is they dont stand by there estimate..She kept talking about possible hidden costs too..its a tailgate and bumper Threw up a red flag for me not much hidden there .Ill never go back do not and will not recommend Bernals auto body.Youd think 3400.00 for a tailgate and bumper would be more than fair but they saw opportunity to sqeeze another 175 out of it ..lol crazy..If a business transaction starts out bad and untrustworthy ..My experence is it just gets worse as it goes ..Don't bother with this place Too many other body shops that do what they say .Pay attention if you do go here to the numbers before you sign ..Thats what I did and caught them read more

The competitors in the area will easily charge you $500-$1,000 more and treat you a fraction of how well Bernal Auto Body treats its customers. I've had my car serviced here on three separate occasions: when someone had rear ended me; broke in through a window; and when I scraped my car with a bad parking job. So glad I found Bernal auto body shop! I was rear ended and my insurance company wanted me to send in photos of the damage, but most of the damage was done under my car, which I couldn't really take photos of. Bernal told me they would be happy to put it up on the rack and let the insurance adjuster come out and really get a good look at the damage! Mike's wouldn't do that, and I asked!
