Several years back my truck was rear ended on Lakeville. Insurance company sent it to G & C to replace the rear bumper. From all outward appearances everything looked fine until last week when we had to remove the bumper to replace the side extensions. The sloppy job these guys did was then exposed. They didn't bother to fix or replace parts that were bent in the impact instead just put the new bumper on and bolted it down enough to look serviceable. Holes that didn't line up did not have bolts. Stripped out and cross threaded others. It's going to take some work to get the bumper back on correctly now at my own expense. First was inconvenienced by the accident now inconvenienced having to fix what they should have done right in the first place. They would not have been my first choice in auto body repair but insurance companies are going to go the cheaper route. Oh and I remember the grand waiting room they had. Very fancy for an auto body shop. Too bad their work wasn't so grand. read more

We were struck (T-boned) by wildlife while driving on the 101 just south of the Humboldt Redwoods and were able to hobble into the KOA in Petaluma. Being from North Carolina, we were in an awkward position of trying to get road worthy to get back home for the time it would take to get the body damage fixed. Collin at G & C guided me through the dynamics of working with the insurance company, Toyota, and an alignment shop to make sure I did the steps in the right manner to make sure we could get our claim started and get on the road asap. Though G & C didn't do any body work for our truck, I wanted to give a huge shout-out to Collin for all his guidance during a tough time! Thinking of having your work done here? DONT! I brought my car in to replace a bumper for insurance work. I also asked them to give me a quote to replace a rocker molding under the door to which I pay on my own. The quote was a little high for the molding (more than $1,000). The reason they said was because they use a 3 stage paint to give it a good coverage. I told them I got a quote from another body shop for less ($950). So they told me they could 'repair' the molding for ($820). Mind you, the price was high just to repair the bumper, but it was ok since it would be paid by insurance. I wanted to save time because of the convenience of location and I'm thinking it looked like a reputable place. They called me the next day to give me a status of the repair work and told me the bumper will cost more because of additonal parts but let me know it would be handled by insurance. However, they discovered the molding was cracked when it was removed and would take additional time (+1.5 hours) to fix. They told me it would cost ($1070). I told them to just put it back because I could replace it for less. Then they told me, "but it's already fixed". At that moment, it didn't sit well with me and I wasn't willing to pay more than $1000 for the repair. I was thinking why didn't they call me first to let me know the molding was broken and it would cost more and let me decide what to do. I was ready to express my dissatisfaction but after a silence on my part, they told me would honor the original quote. I left it at that. I just didn't like how this played out. I was very upset the game they were trying to play on me. I would not trust them and I would not recommend them for doing any work. read more

I've had two bad experiences here and not really sure why I went back a second time. The first time they kept my truck for a week while waiting for parts instead of suggesting I brought it back when the parts were ready. After the work was done, there were paint marks on the bumper which they fixed later that day. Not great but not terrible... The second time I brought my truck in for an estimate it took 2 weeks to get an appointment, then I never received a call back from them and the insurance company never received anything either. I called again after a couple weeks and left another message and again they didn't call back. The seem very disorganized... read more

This place was amazing. My tire blew out on the freeway, it was a scary experience. I was able to make my way to G&C. I walked in about 7:45 ( not not realizing they open at 8am) and asked if they had someone to help me change my spare tire. With our hesitation, a gentleman said " I think we can help with that". With in 3 minutes he had a Mechanic out to my car with all the tools to help me put the spare on. I was out of there by 8:05 am. This place was so kind and generous. He worked with the insurance to ensure everything was taken care of, and made sure I was updated every step of the way. Went in to get an estimate on a repair on my Tundra with out an appointment. They stated I needed to make an appointment as no one was available to give me an estimate. No problem there so I made an appointment for the next day. Arrived for my appointment, and the person giving me an estimate took an hour and 20 minutes to give me an estimate of $3,200. He stated it was expensive because they needed to recalibrate cameras and sensors for the damaged bumper. The damage was minimal so I was skeptical. I then called Gulicks Body Shop to schedule an appointment for an estimate. They said to just bring it in. No appointment needed! I drove over immediately and was given an estimate of $1,500 and it took them a total of 15 minutes to inspect the vehicle and give me an estimate. I happily scheduled an appointment for repair and it was fixed in a timely manner at a fraction of the cost. If you want to be over charged and have your time wasted with an estimate, G and C Auto Body is the place to go. Very disappointing customer service. read more

G&C Auto Body in Petaluma - Can't say enough good things about them, especially Amy Champion. When I had the misfortune to be involved in a collision that ultimately saw my truck written off as a total, Amy and many others at G&C helped me through that difficult time by being more than understanding of time constraints that made me take a couple of weeks before I could get my rack and tool box off the truck before it was towed away. They agreed to keep it secured in their yard until I could arrange a day and truck to take care of it. To my surprise, they even provided one of their mechanics to help me remove the box and rack and load it into a box truck. I appreciate their compassion and help during that difficult time especially considering that, ultimately, got no work out of the deal. My Infiniti Q60 with only 5,023 miles on it, was hit n run in a parking lot. Took it to G&C. They were polite & professional. The grille and left headlamp needed replacing & bumper repaired and refinished. Got call from G&C that my insurance company (Farmers) insisted on using an aftermarket headlamp on my $50,000 car with only 5,023 miles. The OEM part was readily available at Infinity Marin. The aftermarket part was across the country and would take an additional 4 business days (6 days total) to arrive. My Infiniti is my only vehicle. G&C and my agent went the extra mile to get the Farmers adjuster's boss to make concessions, use a new OEM headlamp and reduce repair time. They got everything done in 3 days. They sent a driver to pick me up at my home. When we returned to G&C, my car had been very nicely detailed by a young man (Juan) who owns an older version of my vehicle. I believe Siera assisted as well. Juan informed me that he treated my car like it was his own. Couldn't have had a better experience. Moral of the story, don't use Farmers for car insurance. Even with a brand new vehicle, they insist on aftermarket parts unless you pay a lot more for an endorsement that allows for OEM. My car was broken into through the rear passenger side window. Michelle Voight and the team started off great. Extremely professional, they examined my Toyota Prius specifically and noted a number of places I hadn't even thought of where the broken glass had caused cuts and should be replaced. They were courteous about offering a rental, did not keep me waiting, and kept me extremely up to date on a repair timeline, calling periodically with updates, as did my Progressive insurance agent. I was impressed. It went downhill from there. When I went to pick up my car, a part of the door panel that was extensively cut up was not replaced. Strike 1. Michelle offered me financial compensation for the error in the form of reducing my deductible payment--but I'd have to live with the damaged door panel. I get why this is offered, but the way it was done amounts to a bribe to just let this slide. But I always want a job done right. What's more, you said you'd do something and I signed a piece of paper to that effect, too. If a restaurant messes up your order, it's taken off the bill and the order is done right. Heck, I would have taken even a 10% coupon off future service--but not this kind of deal. This offer just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Strike 2. I said I would rather have it done right. Michelle politely acknowledged this and asked me to please hold off on leaving a review when a call center called, so she would have the chance to earn my "10 stars" when the job is finished. The call center folks called and I did as she asked--reserving judgment. This was on a Friday, July 14. I was promised a call on Monday, July 17 to make an appointment to fix it. No one called on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday--not from G&C nor from Progressive Insurance. I finally left Michelle a voicemail and also called Progressive the week of July 24th to say, what gives. (Michelle never called back.) I was told the part was ordered and Sonoma G&C, closer to where I live, would be in touch with me to make an appointment to install the part--a 15-30 minute job. It close of business Tuesday August 1. It's been 12 business days since I picked up my car. Neither Petaluma nor Sonoma G&C has called once. In fact, I haven't spoken to them since they did not complete the job as requested on July 14. Strike 3, and the reason I was finally driven to leave a review. When the G&C call center calls back, I have no intention of leaving anywhere near 10 stars. I started off really thrilled with the work, but I will be seeking another body shop in the future. read more

My wife was in an accident 3 months ago and the auto body shop still has not completed repairs on components that have sat there at their shop waiting to be installed. They refuse to return phone calls and have failed to keep my wife and I updated as to why they have been unable to complete very simple repairs. Although they had no problem cashing the check from the insurance company, they have been absolutely horrible when it comes to customer service and follow-through. I have been in the automotive repair industry for 20 years and have never experienced such a lack of professionalism, deceitfulness, and disrespect on behalf of the staff and management team. I would not recommend their services to anyone, even my worst enemy! I understand things happen, parts get delayed, but simply picking up the phone and updating your customers is a fundamental aspect of the service and repair industry and G and C Autobody has failed miserably! If 0 stars were an option, I would give them that. The experience has been nothing short of miserable and they have basically attempted to steal money from the insurance company and their customers, by lying consistently and failing to provide even the simplest of explanations as to why a vehicle that has parts readily available, has taken 3 months and counting, to complete. Steer clear of these guys. I recommend Blake's autobody or Classic Collision as an alternative. I recommend you have your insurance check written to you as the customer and hold out paying these guys until all repairs are completed because as soon as they have your money, their motivation goes straight to hell! A few years ago I has the front bumper on my car replaced...one of those low to the ground jobs. They said it had a life time warranty. I took it back last Nov 2018 because the paint was coming off. The manager said he'd check my file and call me back. He never did... May 22, 2019... I finally had time to stop back and have somebody look at the paint flaking off...the guy said it was from rock damage and not covered on warranty...but he'd have the manager call me later that day. I never got a call...for the second time. BUT...I had 2 other body shops look at it and tell me that the paint was not put on correctly and should not just flake off. So, in the future, I will go somewhere else and recommend to all my friends and family to never go here. Maybe it's because I paid for it myself instead of going through the insurance....but the deductible didn't make it worth using the insurance. read more

One week later and no estimate yet. We called several times to follow up but and was never able to speak to the person who did the estimate. We were told that they would get back to us. No response. At first I thought I was going to be taken care of because it was "the new body shop" in town, but I was wrong. I took my infiniti in for collision repairs and they put defective, after market parts on my car. It took 3 different trips to the body shop to finally get the correct infiniti parts put on my car. However, no less than a year after they completed the work on my rear bumper, the paint started to bubble and peal. I thought they guaranteed their work so i took my car back and spoke with the general manager. He said he would call me back in 2 weeks, but I never heard from them again. poor customer service, poor workmanship, no guarantee on work. read more

Stay away! After sideswiping a support beam in a garage while parking, I did like the commercials say and immediately took my 05 Tacoma on over to G&C to get an estimate on repainting the passenger-side bed, where the paint (appeared to be) scratched to hell. Guy comes out and looks at it, points out two minor (he calls them "extensive") dents, and shaking his head sadly says that they'll have to replace the ENTIRE panel. WHAT!?! I don't care about the dents, I say, you can barely see them. Besides, it's a truck, it's meant to get a little banged up! I just want the paint to look decent. Not an option he says, has to be all or nothing. So I let him write me an estimate, and it comes to $1950!!! I balk and that's where he goes into used car salesman mode, trying to offer me all kinds of sweet now-or-never deals if I'll sign off on the work. I say I'll shop around and get back to him. Ten minutes later I'm down at my favorite Petaluma repair shop (rhymes with Shout Best) asking if they can refer me to an auto body shop. One of their mechanics asks to take a look at my truck. He sees it, goes "hmmm ..", and whips out a can of goof-off and a rag. Thirty seconds later, the scratches have virtually disappeared! Turns out my truck's paint was tougher than the garage post's, and it was actually the post's paint that was all over my truck!! Holy cow!! And they didn't charge me anything, just gave me a little ribbing about not running into any more poles. As for the "extensive" dents, I pulled those out with a plunger at home in like a minute. The actual paint damage was easily taken care of with a dab or two of touch up paint. Bottom line is, yes, my truck doesn't look as perfect as it would have had I let G & C replace the entire panel, but it was downright slimey of them to try and pressure me into getting that done when I clearly stated that I just wanted it to look decent, not mint. read more
