Took my car in for an insurance repair that was covered after taking a hit from another driver. Initially, the process was smooth and efficient but they could not get two basic things right after repeated tries. 1) Adhering a trunk spoiler on correctly. 2) Identifying and fixing a rattle that was created from the collision. I brought the car back numerous times, but they simply could not figure out this basic stuff - that's their job right? Repairing vehicles to spec and get paid handsomely by insurance providers is what they do. After the the third follow up visit and time out of my life to coordinate getting to and from work without a car, I was told by the rep who was handling my repair that the rattle had been identified and fixed (it hadn't) and that the spoiler issue was in spec and that his manager said they couldn't do any better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was disappointed enough to follow up twice, and left the manager two messages through their front desk employees, with promises that I would receive a call back. No follow up and my issues still exist[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. A word of advice: if your insurance provider sends you here during the process of a claim, be very careful about what you sign. I wanted to accept a cash settlement from the insurance company instead of repairing my damaged car but I mistakenly signed an agreement that essentially gave up ALL of my decision-making power. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After that day, they ignored all of my requests that no parts be ordered or repairs begun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Don't make the same foolish mistake I did : read the fine print, ask someone to explain the entire process, advocate for what YOU want from the beginning etc. I really wish I had, because I walked away with zero ability to decide the outcome of the insurance claim. This review has nothing to do with the quality of their work. I can't speak to that. But for anyone who is sent here to get a damage estimate from their insurance, be careful because it can very quickly turn into a full repair job. read more

I brought my Toyota Camry with extremely minimal damage to the right rear quarter panel to G&C and Christian Gordon was assigned as the estimator. He had worked several years doing the repairs before serving as an estimator. He looked at the panel, we discussed the repair, and he told me how much it would cost. Then he proceeded to fix the problem in a few minutes and told me that he saw no need to bring the car back if I considered his work to have been acceptable. I did. I reached out on the days three quarters of the way through the day to get an update.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I picked up my car, the bumper was not attached properly from repairs, the technician or someone had spilled coffee on the side of my car and running board, personal items of the technician were left in my car, and the car seat was not installed properly. Best of all, my speakers sound like they were put under water. I am unable to hold a conversation. My speakers were fine when I took the car in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service provider started to get really defensive at the end of service saying things were out of there hands and that things were not told to them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He is just trying to cover his butt for all the mistakes the shop made over the course of time my car has been with them. I FEEL CHEATED!! G&C did not complete all the repairs as promised. AND did shoddy work. AND used coercive practices (i.e. texted estimates that have to be signed immediately, insisting that I designate them as repair shop before giving me an estimate) When I pick up the car, there is still a huge dent in the fender and a broken taillight. Despite conversations about wanting those damages repaired, they insist it wasn't included in the estimate. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even so, they never contacted me to double check, AND they knew I was relying on those estimates in choosing them to repair ALL the damages at that cost.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, about 50% of the employees I dealt with were rude (even before there was an issue).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And another repair shop said the work was shoddy: loosely fastened after-market (non dealer) parts, but "probably safe." read more

I am a State Farm insured party and took my car there after a collision, can they get anything right? I was given my car back "repaired" after 2 weeks and the repaired parts started to fall off as soon as I drove away. The bumper, the clips, the sensors, the under pan ripped off, rattling and more. I had to take it back a total of 7 times and the last piece was lazily put back on and painted in the wrong color. The damage sustained was merely 4k and amounted to 10k after having to take it back and they kept charging my insurance when it's their fault they didn't repair my vehicle correctly. Their job is to repair a car and they couldn't even get the color right, the clips to hold a bumper together, they disconnected my defrosters and gave me my car without making sure they connected things back correctly. It was one thing after another 6 months to repair a bumper/panel? I'll never come back here again nor recommend it. Had my truck hood repaired at G&C auto body San Rafael. I've been there before for other work. This time within two years the repair on the hood was failing substantially. I brought it to them and they did another repair free of charge. A few years later the same repair area was coming apart and blistering as it seems the components that they used we're not compatible with each other. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went back to them to ask if they would repair it again and they asked for my receipt. I couldn't find my receipt from five years ago and so they declined helping me[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Although they state that their repairs are guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle, apparently they don't keep any database of you being in their shop. The blistering paint was undetected until I was washing my truck and a piece of it came off and I cut my hand on the jagged edge of the broken paint. The side of the hood paint is now fading. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then went to the main GNC auto body in Santa Rosa where they took down my information but nobody ever called me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's hard to believe at this day and age that they don't keep a database on their customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All I want is my hood fixed. This is the second time G&C Auto Body has completed body repairs on my cars. The first was my Mini with a hood dent from a parking lot hit. Andy was the rep and Did an excellent job in getting it repaired. Great service! The most recent was my 2006 Jeep unlimited. Hit a poor deer and it dented the hood , fender and smashed a fog lamp. Peter Romaro was my rep. He explained how these Jeep's are real steel. Rather than replacing the expensive and hard to find fender, he recommended pounding it out. Same with the hood. He said because the Jeep was made before they used plastic and less durable metal, it made sense. 4 days in their body shop and paint shop , with the fog light replacement it was done. Peter called me to keep me abreast of the progress. Peter and the shop actually enjoyed working on a car that was substantial. I picked it up this date and I must say it was perfect. Peter was a pleasure to work with. G&C is a true professional operation. I highly recommend Peter as I did Andy for their expertise and communication skills. Thanks guys! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!.... I brought my mom's car in- had some wiring damage. They had the car for a MONTH. I called 6 different times asking for an update; the first time I called, the lady I spoke with couldn't even find the car (I gave my name, my insurance claim #, etc). Every time I called, I was told that someone would call me back with an update- they did not. I got my insurance adjuster involved- he finally was given an update. When I picked up the car, it was FILTHY! At least return the car in the condition it was dropped off- not covered in auto body dust and inside covered in similar dust. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE- unless you don't care when you get it back and you don't care what condition you receive it. read more

The worst experience ever Stay away if you value your time because they certainly don't

My wife backed out of a parking slot at Costco and slammed into a black Suburban driven by a young man who was rushing to grab a parking space. AAA paid for our repair and I picked G & S from a list because of its high ranking. The young adjuster at GS was highly responsive. But .. at his suggestion, I postponed the repair for week because they were backlogged and the repair might have kept my car in the shop too long, interrupting a trip to san Diego. He assured me that they would order the parts, so that work would commence immediately upon my return. He gave me an estimate of about 3700$ and thought it could finished in. 3-4 days. The reality is that the repair took over a week , supposedly because of trouble getting parts from Honda. The worst part is that the final bill was almost $6000. Because our bumper cover was smashed, the radar/ driver assistance devices needed to be recalibrated... that recalibration cost over $1300. I told the young man that he should have informed me of this cost in the first estimate.Surely any time a bumper is hit the electronics need to be calibrated. He acted like this was his first experience with this type of repair. BS! The repair was great, car looks like new. But I I found the whole experience drawn out and way more expensive than the estimate, 25% higher. Also there was debris left in the trunk of the car from the repair. At the price they charged, the least they could do was not done. Washing the car would have been a class act. Lesson: get estimates from at least 2 shops. read more

I chose this shop because they are on the list for both the insurance company of "the other guy" (which saved a little bit of hassle) and are Tesla certified. It's hard to pick a body shop because there are so many, and there's so many horror stories out there. But I'm glad I came here. The car took a few weeks because of part availability which is out of the shop's control, but drop off and pickup were easy and fast. Steven was super communicative and easy to deal with, giving me frequent updates. They replaced front and rear bumper and fixed some dents and paint on trunk. Paint match looks perfect, and the electronics (radar and parking sensors) were calibrated and back to working normally. Very convenient location, only 2 blocks from Enterprise. Front desk not particularly friendly, terrible job taping the broken glass strip on the trunk of my Prius, tape flew up and flapped, had to pull over twice on my drive down to Santa Cruz and twice on the way home to secure it. It made the drive down and back feel dangerous and the noise from flapping tape was awful. Upon arriving back in Marin, and checking in with my guy at Toyota for a referral, I drove to Classic Auto Body, they removed the old tape and provided a super professional tape job on the trunk of my car to hold things in place while they ordered parts to repair it. They called within hours to let me know the repair would take 10/11 days as opposed to G & C's quote of 15/20. The team at Classic were friendly, efficient, and I felt super taken care of. read more

I expressed that I had a budget on these repairs, given the age of the vehicle. Ron was super helpful and went the extra mile to come in on budget and deal with a complicated rust situation. The job took about 10 days (rust takes time) and Ron kept me up to date with photos and a timeline of what was being done. The shop is super clean and the staff, friendly and professional.
