Excellent service from beginning to end! We had a fine experience w/ G&S. Our salesman, Javier, was friendly and professional. He called about 15 mins prior to our measuring to report he'd be a few minutes late. We appreciated the consideration. Our carpet was ready a week after we placed our order, and we were able to schedule the install w/ no hassle. The installation team showed up at the appointed time, and were removing the old carpet w/in 5 mins of their arrival. These guys busted butt for 8 hrs, re-positioned the furniture as they finished a room, and took the old carpet and detritus from their install w/ them. A+ While I agree w/ another reviewer that the G&S store is "no frills", I'd also remind folks, "don't judge a book by its cover". The staff are friendly, and while they may not have as expansive a showroom as other area carpet providers, they seem confident they can get you whatever you want. One final note. We did a lot of research on carpet before we settled on G&S. Very disappointed in one of the area's more popular carpet stores, as their measurement of our floor space was off by almost 20 sq yds!! At $50-60 per sq yd . . . you do the math. Additionally, that same business did not itemize their quote, so we were left guessing at the various cost points. No thanks. Let me first say I have never used their services, this is a review of an experience I had with one of their delivery men. This morning I was at home in my room and my daughter was home with me waiting for the bus for school. All of a sudden I heard a man's voice saying "Hello, hello!" At first I thought it was my husband, but then I quickly realized it wasn't his voice. I looked toward my front door and no one was there. I then go towards the back of my home by my laundry room and I see a man standing there with my door wide open. It was a delivery man from this company with a G&S invoice who thought it was a good idea to open someone's side porch door without knocking!!! He was supposedly looking for a house that was not this one. I immediately shut the door and locked and dead bolted it (I had just gone outside a half hour before that to throw out trash which is why the door was unlocked). I called our property manager to confirm if they were expecting a delivery and they said no. I then called G&S and did get a confirmation that they were doing a job out here in the neighborhood. I told the gentleman that I spoke with what happened and to let his employee know that it's not a good idea to open people's doors without warning. I also let the gentleman on the phone know that if the delivery man would've stepped one foot in my door that he would've had a "buck shot in his ass." Where to start! The measurement and selection with Gus started out awesome! And then..... 1.) I got a call from Bob on my quote and he seemed a little rude. I actually almost considered going with the other company because of that Phone conversation but my husband really liked the one color at GS Flooring. 2.) we scheduled with Bob on the phone to install the flooring and I mentioned that I would like to be there just to get the job started~ he mentioned that we did not have to be home for them to do the job but I feel like that is a choice I would make.... so I scheduled and I took the day off work. At 4:30 PM he canceled and moved me to another day.. I was frustrated because I could not reset my schedule for the next day so everything had already been pushed back. 3.)My husband decides to take the next day off and get them started so that we feel comfortable with them in their house and we know where the project is starting etc. (And I have dogs that I took to daycare on those days too) The guys come and start installing they are very nice and they get to finishing one room. They go to open up the next pallet and they realize it's the wrong color! 4.) I had hired a painter to come and spray the baseboards so they were not just primer it and they had white paint on them so I had to reschedule him twice. 5.) It's a holiday weekend and my entire house is concrete because my carpet was pulled but now we have the wrong color.... in my mind that's definitely a receivable inventory issue as well as a shipping issue. Had it been caught on receiving a few days before it could've been fixed but now were into the job needing the flooring now. So everything is stopped and we wait for the right flooring to be received... meanwhile I am severely inconvenienced. 6.) The new flooring comes in and a group of installers show up and they work their butts off for like 12 hours doing a great job....I was there installing my husband and I are going on about the plans in our day and they let us know that they are going to finish tonight and we need to have the baseboards painted because they are going to install them tonight. We contact the painter and he cannot help us on short notice so we cancel our plans and we go out and get paint and we start painting them ourselves for hours and hours. 7.)However, they do not finish because they do not have the right equipment to go around the fireplace and it was late So they decided they would come back after the holiday and do the baseboards...... so I did not have to cancel all my plans and stop everything to paint them right then??????????? 8.) They finally come back the next day to finish--I contact management about how this went down and they gave me $100 credit. Thats it!!! I was blown away! 9.) I made it worse.. I decided I really wanted the last two bedrooms done, so we could try again. I order the material- I am in no rush! I get a call-- we can install tomorrow! Ummm ok -So I get stuff ready all night to just be ready for them. They will be hrre 8:30 am 10.) 11:00 am they show.. oh not THEY, him! One guy! ( Moving furniture is included in the price) but one guy. Remember, I filled thier opening... I was in no rush. 11.) YOU ARE NOT HOING TO BELIEVE THIS.. The guy unloads everything, cuts carpet, removes doors, starts the project. His boss calls him and me snd says he needs to go work on an emergency job. He is packing up and leaving now. My sons rooms are concrete or no doors. They just pulled him off my job THEY SCHEDULED! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE/Management. No manager has contacted me to try to help make things right. No care! I dont think I have ever seen something so un organized and rude. read more

Prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for! Avoid this place at all costs. Products sold are okay-usually name brand, some off-brands, but installation was a nightmare. Found nails in carpet nowhere near where nails would be used, nails sticking up, seams crooked and uneven. The vinyl flooring looks like it was hacked with a machete- the edges just sloppy and ugly. Installers had no pride in workmanship, and sales could not care less once they had their cash. How hard is it to run a magnet or a vacuum after you install the carpet? The competition called them Gouge and Scrape Carpets when I went shopping for replacements, and I can see why! Should have went there the first time around. Live and learn. Spend a few dollars elsewhere and save the aggravation... and the tetanus shot! read more

I needed some flooring done at my house and was hesitant about going to G & S Carpet after reading the reviews on Yelp, but I also had heard great things about this company from some of my friends who had dealt with G & S Carpet in the past. I thought what the Heck and went there for my flooring needs. I was helped by a guy by the name of JR, who was VERY knowledgeable in the area of linoleum. He took the time to show me the numerous options that were available to me and did his best in bringing down the cost of installation. We agreed on a fair price and a date of installation. On the date of installation, the guys who came to my house were punctual and friendly. They did a very professional job of installing my linoleum to my satisfaction and left my house in a clean and tidy fashion. After their work, my kitchen looked better than it ever did before!! I would highly recommend G & S Carpet to anyone who needs flooring done in their house and wants the job done professionally and at a reasonable price! read more

I'd like to report that we were very pleased with our recent purchase and installation of approximately 100 yards of plush carpet for the entire second floor of our Arroyo Grande home. Although there's no frills to be found when entering their warehouse, what one notices is the huge inventory of carpet and other flooring materials laid out in an orderly fashion in front to you. Gus approached us almost immediately after entering the warehouse, queried us about what we needed and quickly guided us to what we ultimately purchased. Although he only had 80 yards in stock, after checking with his supplier, he was able to get the additional 20 yards in the same die lot. We had already checked prices with other carpet outlets and found G&S' price to be the best. The purchase was made with a small deposit and the installation was scheduled several days later at a time that worked best for us. Installers arrived exactly on time, got to work immediately, were diligent and cleaned up afterwards and, the best thing, they got it done in one day. My suggestion to buyers is don't be turned off by their "no frills" warehouse for what they save on overhead you'll probably save on your purchase. That's what I feel worked for us. read more

They have a huge selection of luxury vinyl planking and we found one we loved that looked and felt way more wood-like than any other we had seen thus far. Bob was very knowledgeable and accommodating as we found the perfect one and ordered. A few boxes were damaged once they arrived and they quickly reordered replacements for us. We had our own installer so can't comment on that piece. read more

My first visit there was great. Javier was a pleasure to work with. When I returned for an additional room and to take back their samples Javier was not in and a man by the name of JR was the clerk that greeted me. I have never been treated so rudely by a sales person in my life. Even though my first experience was great JR made me want to run out of the store and never return. Had "luxury laminate" installed less than 2 yrs ago. Bubbles & warping appeared in unused areas immediately. Little water spills caused larger lifts. They replaced some, but not all & it's getting worst. Not responding to calls, emails, personal visits or snail mail. I wonder if they would be satisfied if this flooring their house. read more

If minus zero was a possibility, I would chose it. Avoid Javier, the manager. He is either completely forgetful, a pathological liar, just out to make money, doesn't care at all about the customer, or service, &/or ALL of the above. He should be a tollbooth collector, but he would keep the change! A complete drain of time, money, & energy. I spent $1,700 on laminate flooring, and received no assistance in loading my truck with their product. Bad customer service.

I have dealt with several other carpet companies in San Luis Obispo and was disappointed with their service. I went sout to Santa Maria and am very glad that I did. The service was very professional. Carpet was ordered. It was solution dyed nylon for commercial use. The best of all were the installers. They were very experienced and did an exceptional job. This is the 2nd time I have used this company and am very happy with the results. read more

This company does not follow industry standards on installation. They cut my carpet on a recently oiled street with no protection under it on a hot August day. Oily, black boot prints all over new carpet. I drove to speak to store manager in person and was told they would not change how the installed the carpet. I had the option of them removing carpet then, which meant we would loose our large deposit. Our movers were coming the next day. Industry standard is to put a new, inexpensive piece of carpet on area where new carpet is being measuring. They failed to do that or to keep promise to have oil cleaned off the carpets. read more

I just had flooring put throughout my house, both carpet and hard flooring. I worked with Gus Ruiz in selecting exactly what I wanted. He was the soul of patience when I had difficulty making up my mind. He did not push or try a hard sale. He recognized and said this is a big decision, and I should take as long as I needed. A week or four later, I made decisions. I didn't get any implied recriminations about how long it took me. Not a one. Instead, Gus was eager for me to be satisfied. This helpful attitude did not waver throughout the entire project. Part way through the project, I changed my mind on a key issue, and again Gus encouraged me to take my time and make sure this is what I wanted. I did and the project began again after additional material arrived. My installer was Gus' brother Daniel with some help from Daniel's son Daniel Jr. I can not praise them highly enough for the excellent work they did. Daniel Sr did the majority of the work, and I couldn't be happier. He is a true craftsman and a very nice man, too!! Mama and Pappa Ruiz raised some fine men! :-) We met as strangers and left as friends. I cannot recommend G & S highly enough!!! read more

G&S carpet completed installation of my new laminate flooring today. I am very pleased with the results. From the sales staff to the company installers, Luis and Santiago, I couldn't have asked for better customer service. I admit I had some concerns after reading some of the reviews but glad I went forward with them. I wanted American made flooring to avoid any possible problem with odors. Readily available when ordered and came in promptly. All in all, I recommend G&S flooring in Santa Maria and will use them again. Be up front about what you want and any concerns you might have.
