11/07/2017.ZERO STAR RATING.Yesterday began the Third Week since G&S Tire Factory's,soon to be called Point S,in Hermiston,Oregon,NEGLIGENCE caused THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS DAMAGE TO MY CHERRY 2011 TOYOTA TACOMA.I drove 76 miles to G&S Tire Factory to look at Hakka 8 snow tires.I brought along my winter wheels & asked G&S Tire Factory to mount, balance & fit one tire/wheel on the vehicle to verify it worked & after seeing a satisfactory fit the company replaced the tire/wheel on the driver side/front of truck (they balanced the remaining tires on my winter wheels & placed all in the truck bed).I paid $840,part by check & part on The Tire Factory's Synchrony Bank credit account.I was not impressed by the business' internal appearance, especially compared to Les Schwab & Commercial Tire but went through with the transaction & left.Within about two minutes,in downtown Hermiston traffic,at about 10 mph,the driver side tire/wheel,because the Tire Factory did not tighten the lug nuts, separated from the Toyota, went rolling down N 1st Street & the vehicle crashed, landing on the rotor, destroying the fender flare, the fender, the hood, the door, damaging the rotor & rotor shield, the mud flap, the threads on the lower ball joint, etc.I was unable to exit/enter the drive side due to the damage.I was fortunate that a good citizen, about 14 years old, retrieved the tire/wheel which had rolled down the street. The wheel was damaged front & back. After two phone calls I was able to reach G&S Tire Factory & they dispatched a company truck to the crash site,approx.4:15 PM.In the meantime I had paid the responsible teenager $20 for retrieving the tire/wheel.The Tire Factory employee pulled lug nuts from other wheels in order to mount the damaged one after bending the rotor shield so the vehicle could be driven back to the business. After photos were taken by myself & Austin of G&S Tire Factory & their insurance agent was notified & I was assured that the vehicle was driveable on the freeway & after the business replaced the missing lug nuts,I, with great caution drove home.I had asked Austin of G&S Tire Factory to reimburse me $20 I had paid the young man for retrieving the tire/wheel but he refused.
At this date, the body shop has scheduled the Toyota in on Monday,November 13th.This will begin the 4th week since the accident caused by the negligence of G&S Tire Factory. After appraisers looked at the damage last week I was told not to drive except locally so until I get a rental next week I have been unable to travel out of town & the Toyota may be in the body shop up to Thanksgiving.
I put a stop payment on the $400 check & filed a negligence complaint with Synchrony Bank's customer service & requested a charge back to G&S Tire Service. That was denied in a letter received today.Additionally I removed the stop payment on the check thinking it was the honorable thing to do but maybe it wasn't as the effect of an accident is residual..I've had trouble falling asleep,I'm hyper-vigilant when driving around town & have spent hours on the phone with insurance companies trying to drive the process forward...for which I'll receive no compensation short of a lawsuit.
I can only Hope the tires work exceptionally well on the ice & snow this Winter and the body & mechanical work bring the vehicle back to pre-wreck condition.BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS HERE.M read more
