Went here again today for lunch during work. I took my coworker and it was his first time as well. I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate, which comes with rice and salad. The price is still great ($11), but I feel like the portions were a lot smaller. I also asked for extra teriyaki sauce, which I did not get. I'll probably get to watch for it next time. But for how the economy is going, the inflation here is still affordable and getting a full meal for $11 is rare now. My food cake it fast, but my coworkers sandwich took just over 10 minutes to get. Service is fine as well. There is still inside and outside seating and customers were coming in and out. I'll probably get a different plate next time. read more

I came because I was looking for someplace close while on jury duty. Heard about the teriyaki chicken and figured I'd give it a try. It was the daily special, so it was nice to have an affordable plate that tasted good and got a decent amount of food. The sauce is good because it isn't super sweet, which unfortunately most teriyaki leans into. Got here early during lunch rush, so I had the place to myself for a bit, quiet, about a dozen tables indoors and a few outside. It could be super loud if the room was full. After I ordered I saw they also had bulgogi, if I'm back in the area, I'll have to give that a shot. I recommend for fast affordable lunch when serving jury duty. read more

Come by and get the teriyaki chicken lunch every couple of weeks (rice, chicken, some clearly from a bag salad). Its pretty average, not authentic by any means, but still for the price its more than worth it for a meal when you just want something that is a "grab and go" option. The biggest downside is that during peak hours, the place is far too crowded and not worth the wait. If you are willing to eat at 11, or take a 1:30 type lunch though this is something you should check out if you are in the area. read more

I came upon G Street Cafe while being (un)lucky enough to serve on a jury at the nearby courthouse. I ended up coming here twice in one week since it was close and very convenient. The first time I came in I had the Super Bird which came with turkey, bacon, cheese, and all of the fixings. The sandwich was definitely very fresh and the bread was toasted perfectly. There was definitely a little too much mustard in this for me as mustard was definitely getting all over my hands and my face. The second time, I thought I would try a hot dish and opted for the Korean barbecue Bulgogi. The meat was actually very tasty with a very slight sweetness to it, and it was very tender. I do wish I would've asked for my dressing on the side because my salad was drowning in ranch dressing . I do feel like they could do a little more to make it a bit more cozy in the cafe, but I noticed a lot of orders were to-go, so perhaps they just focus on getting people in and out. The staff were very nice and the gentleman made sure to tell me there was an extra $.50 charge if using my debit card , which was fine as I did not have cash on me. Next time I am serving on jury duty, I would probably return for a sandwich and skip the mustard. Decent place though. read more

I walked in after missing the Capitol Corridor and having some time to kill. There was a very short line and the employees were attentive. I chose to get a breakfast sandwich so I could use their power outlets and WiFi to work. To my surprise, the sandwich was $3.92. I figured it would be a reheated frozen sandwich similar to the ones at Starbucks or McDonald's. To my surprise, the sandwich was warm, the cheese was melted, and the egg was perfectly cooked and you could tell it had been cooked there! This place is a no frills hidden gem. They need to run their business a little better. First off they have 3 different lines. One for hot food and one for sandwiches. Even tho I was there before the line got really long they took the hot food order line customer first. Okay ? I ordered a chicken club with no onions. I then had to make another line to pay. The guy at the register is handling the cash register and also handing out orders with no gloves. The ladies making sandwiches are also calling out orders so they ended up giving my sandwich to a "Malcom" and I got Malcoms sandwich. I went up to the lady making a sandwich and told her I got somebody else's sandwich. The box had Malcom's name along with no mustard and no peppers. She said she called out the order and I said well the man at the register gave my sandwich to someone else she said sorry and asked me what I wanted. I said add mustard and no onions . All she did was modify Malcom's sandwich for me. And she STILL got it wrong. Left the onions added mustard smh. I'm sure Malcom will be disappointed when he sees his order wrong . Poor structure have some order in there and for the love of God wear gloves . Not coming back. You get what you pay for here, and even then it isn't that great. The breakfast burritos and croissants are very small. They use microwaved powdered eggs and Kraft American cheese. The tater tots tend to be on the mushy side. The deli sandwiches are also nothing to write home about. It's all stuff you could easily make at home since it seems they just get their ingredients from Costco/grocery store. The best breakfast deal is the Country Scramble. For under $10 you get a basic biscuit with a store-bought country gravy, a sausage patty, powdered eggs and those same semi-mushy tater tots. The people working there are nice and they are open very early. I just wish the quality of food was a bit better! Unfortunately, with it being downtown, you will get the occasional homeless person walk by, linger and maybe try to mess with you. This place stays alive by being conveniently located, open early and fairly cheap, otherwise people would likely go elsewhere. read more

They have a pretty large menu and I ordered the French toast. I did not like it very much because it was literally just scrambled eggs cooked onto two slices of bread with syrup. I got it today, and its absolutely disgusting. Honestly, I dont know how they think it's ok to serve food like this. The potatoes are undercooked and no seasoning, sausage is hard as a rock from being overcooked, and the "gravy" is like glue...and zero flavor. Won't be going back for any of their hot food. I sort of stopped coming here the times I didn't bring a lunch to work, because it was always a little chaotic and a little uncomfortable to deal with the owner. NOW it's under new ownership and I can see this place making a huge turn around. It recently was taken over by a super nice guy who's been in the food industry business before. He's fully aware of how the place was before and is confident he'll make the place more welcoming and organized. I wouldn't have known it was under new ownership, but luckily as a last resort I went in one morning for a veggie breakfast burrito and learned about it then. I only came to this place because I am on a lunch break from jury duty, and as I was walking I seen a picture of coffee! It's very close to the courthouse, you just have to walk across the street! They serve breakfast sandwiches, and cold or hot sandwiches and a variety of hot chicken dishes with rice such as teriyaki chicken hot and regular, chicken potstickers or chicken curry. A sandwich or hot dish only cost $6.45 cheaper then the food truck meals that are Parked all around the courthouse, well worth the walk, they accept cash and card. The presentation isn't the greatest, it's fast service not the friendliest but def convenient.
