I have driven by this quaint neighborhood cafe many times and today decided to stop in for lunch. I was greeted by the owners, a very lovely couple, and a friendly young lady who took my order. It was refreshing to step into this small business that was not all about tech and production. There was actually interaction and personality that seems to have diminished is so many places these days. The cafe was clean and inviting. The food was excellent! I ordered a custom sandwich, the portions were generous and everything was sooooo fresh. I needed an afternoon caffine pick me up so I decided an ice mocha was in order. It was great! Cute little cafe located in the heart of Midtown Sacramento. Family owned and operated they serve bagels, croissants, sandwiches, soups and plenty more that cafes are known for. The server was very nice and our orders came out quick and correct. Ate on the sidewalk using their patio seating. It was a beautiful day out. Went with the pastrami sandwich on focaccia bread served hot. I was able to construct it with everything I do and don't like. All the fixings being available. My lady went with their turkey sandwich and added avocado. The sandwich was super filling. Two large halves and for the price I doubt you can find a better deal downtown. I tried this cafe for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! There is limited seating inside but it is very cozy. The lady running the cafe was kind and very helpful and helped my friend and I order our bagel sandwiches, which you can choose to load up or keep it simple. I went with a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich and it was delicious!! Everything was hot and fresh, and I appreciated that the egg part was a thick scrambled egg patty rather than straight up scrambled egg; it made it so you get a good proportion of egg to bagel every bite. And the price was lower compared to a lot of other cafes in the area. I also got a latte with Irish cream syrup. The coffee was a bit strong and I couldn't really taste the Irish cream flavor at all. Such a cute lil spot in town. Aside from the bagel I got a chai latte and it was so so yummy! Not overpoweringly sweet and had great spice. The size cup too for the price was very nice. The bagel sandwich was solid. Thick patty and egg. The cheese could have been a lil saltier but it was still good! I got the sesame bagel and it was so chewy and perfectly toasted at the same time. To those of you that are looking for a true hole-in-the-wall coffeeshop in a quieter area of Midtown Sacramento, look no further because "N Street Cafe" will have you covered. This place has been a staple of Sacramento, even before trendier and more expensive places came into town. I even remember passing by numerous times but never had the chance to go inside; due to their limited hours as they are only open for business Monday through Saturday from 7am-3pm. I made the trip here during the morning of Saturday 5/11/2024 at around 8:55am. Located directly on N St. and in between 20th & 21st St's in Midtown Sacramento, this place has a very cozy vibe immediately when you walk inside. You will notice large coffee bean bags attached to the ceiling while the orange colored walls add some pop to the interior. They also have several tables for dining in, a display case that showcases fresh baked goods (pastries, muffins, scones), a unisex restroom, and quick Wi-Fi speeds. I also noticed a small display area that sells bags of chips and even ice cream bars/cones/sandwiches, perfect for the hot summer days. In addition to their generous coffee and even smoothie lineup, this place offers a very nice food selection. It is almost borderline deli as they carry a nice variety of salads, pasta salads, and sandwiches with a ton of bread and meat choices. As for their breakfast, you can also order muffins, bagels, croissants, wraps, and bowls. Since this was my first time here, I went with their "Breakfast Bagel" (for $7.95) that included bacon, scrambled eggs, tomato, sprouts, and cheese. I completed my order with a large iced white chocolate mocha. My drink was ready within 5 minutes (as it was busy) while my bagel was ready shortly after. I proceeded to sit outside and fortunately none of the outdoor tables were being used. The bagel was made perfectly with a nice amount of bacon and eggs nestled inside. it actually filled me up as I got my carb and protein intake to get me through the morning. As for my iced white mocha, this had the perfect amount of espresso; not too sweet and not too bitter. The 16 oz. size was very generous and reasonably priced while being not as expensive as the competition in town. All in all, "N Street Cafe" is a great small business that deserves praise. Cute little neighborhood mom & pop with delicious breakfast sandwiches! We didn't try any drinks here but I would be open to it. They have a pretty extensive lunch and coffee menu, as well as very customizable breakfast sandwiches where you can choose your bread (bagel, croissant, English muffin, or tortilla wrap), meat (turkey, sausage, bacon, ham, or roast beef), cheese (swiss, pepper jack, american, cheddar, jack, or cream cheese), and veggies ($0.75 extra each: tomatoes, raw onion slices, banana peppers, or sprouts). I got Breakfast muffin with a sausage patty and added some veggies. The portion of onions, peppers, and tomatoes were pretty generous but the sprouts were just a sprinkling, so I wouldn't pay extra for that next time. Interestingly the English muffin was not a traditional one but a much thinner almost lavash-like texture--a little more European style but nonetheless delicious! My bf got a breakfast bagel and both our sandwiches were hot and fresh when we picked up our online order. I've had a hard time finding good breakfast sandwiches in Sac--I'm super picky about my bread and eggs--and this place hit the spot. We will be back for more and I might grab a chai latte or smoothie next time :) For COVID, all orders are to go and there are 4 first come first serve, self-bus small dining tables outside.
