We came during lunchtime, and the place was very clean with a beautiful and bright traditional design. Located on Stockton Blvd, it's not in the best of areas and parking can be a pain because you have to park on the residential street as I didn't see a dedicated business parking lot. Inside was fairly spacious and decorated nicely. We were the only patrons at 2pm on a Saturday so the bartender told us to sit wherever we'd like. He brought menus and chips and salsa quickly. I opted for the cheese enchiladas with red sauce and my friend got the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. We also had margaritas and the pina colada. My friend was not a fan of her margarita and the pina colada was just meh. The enchiladas were also a bit lacking. Yelp and Google stated that this place closes at 9. We came at 8 and weren't able to order because the kitchen was closed.. there were people sitting at the bar that watched us stand at the front upon entering. Then we helped ourselves to a booth, waiting for a server to come up and give us further instructions (to order at the front or where to get a menu). It turned out one of the people at the bar worked there and didn't say anything to us the whole time we were there looking around for a staff member. My husband walked up to ask where we can get a menu just for them to say the kitchen was closed... a whole hour before listed closing..? At the very least they could have gave us a heads up right when we walked in. The only reason I gave the extra star was because the exterior actually looked nice with a big mural so that it was easy to find/park next to. There is street parking but no parking lot and as soon as you walk up it smells very strongly like fish- just a heads up. Most likely won't be coming here again because the staff seemed to no have common courtesy to communicate their closure without us having to find and seek them out and ask for a menu. I am ALWAYS passing by the spot and I'm so glad I finally decided to drop in! First off, this is an underrated gem located in the south sac area which is a nice change if aren't a fan of being in midtown/downtown all the time for some drinks and good food! The service was fantastic. The atmosphere was awesome and I loved the art on the walls. I ordered the torta and their house coffee (cafe de la olla). The coffee tasted nostalgic! So happy to see more restaurants opening up on a fairly dead stretch of Stockton Blvd. The premise of this restaurant is Sinaloan-Japanese fusion. I'm so excited this is finally open. It's very heavily Sinaloan with a few Japanese elements, primarily as sushi rolls with a lot of cream cheese. We skipped the sushi and ordered more interesting sounding things, like the octopus sriracha tacos, and the tuna tamarind ceviche. My brother wanted the 1lb of carnitas as well. The octopus sriracha and tuna tamarind were very saucy, but flavorful and delicious. The carnitas were DIY tacos--pretty standard. Our waitress was very attentive and came back often to check on us to make sure things were okay. All in all, happy to have this in the neighborhood. I hope they're able to make it last. I looked up this place when I drove by. I decided to try it out on our soup night because they had pozole on the menu. I called in asked a few questions and read some reviews before making my decision. After I decided on the food I placed the order online and waited to pick up since they are 3 minutes away. When I walked in I noticed people singing karaoke. I thought it was a private event only to find out on Sundays they do Karaoke all day ! It was so nice to see people of all ages singing, dancing and having fun. I met with the bartender to pick up my order. It took longer than expected, said to be ready at 6:35p brought out to me by 6:50p. I am glad I waited patiently because the food ALL of it was so fresh, tasty and you can tell they make everything from scratch. I enjoyed all my food every bite ! Chips and salsa were something special, as the owner Haleem (a likable, informative guy) makes a creamy jalapeño sauce like nothing we've ever had. I had the adobada, new to me and interestingly flavorful, a combination of sweet and savory--in part because pineapple is added to the spiced meat. C had the flaunts, her go-to favorite, and proclaimed them incredible. R got the ceviche and let us all try it: perfect, not too much citrus and just the right spice. When you visit, go thirsty! In addition to what you'd expect on the drink list, there are a few interesting must-trys. I had a specialty Paloma made with hibiscus Tequila and a Tajin rim. C got the classic Margarita (which I usually avoid because they can be too sweet). This one was awesome: refreshing, citrus, and not sticky-icky! R was jealous of our cocktails so she ordered a Sangria, which Haleem delivered with an apology. It took extra time because he'd sold out and had to make a fresh batch. Delicious! I plan to go for a pitcher sometime soon. Also, because R's grandma is Spanish, we talked a lot about menudo, on the menu and available all day long. Oracle's menudo is not to be missed! We had a great experience here on Fathers Day! The flautas and fish tacos were absolute standouts. The fish tacos were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We ordered skinny Cadillac margaritas and they were excellent too! Not overly sweet. The house salsa had a little heat, which my husband loved (he's all about the heat). The place is also super family-friendly--when I stepped outside with our baby because he started fussing, the owner kindly invited me back in and told me not to worry. I really wanted to like this place. It's near where I work and would have been a super convenient spot to get my authentic Mexican fix. Inside was simple and quaint, a basic bar and a few small tables. I decided to order aguachile while I was here, but sadly no pictures. I was in too much shock for pictures. Based on the word of the bartender, "I was lucky" because aguachile was to be removed from the menu the following day. After being served the aguachile I immediately knew why...so in fact the rest of you are lucky because it should no longer be on the menu (which I will explain shortly). The cocktail I had was excellent (that's the reason for the second star). I don't recall the name of it, but it was basically a hibiscus agua fresca with mezcal and a tamarind and tajin rim. The aguachile unfortunately was a complete fail (and dangerous in my opinion) even if I miraculously turned out ok. I was asked if I wanted red or green, which immediately concerned me because there was initially some contemplation as to whether or not they had the ingredients. I apprehensively ordered the green and when it was served to me approximately 20 minutes later, I realized that my apprehension was not in vain! The same green salsa that had been served to me complimentary with chips, had now been dumped on a bunch of raw shrimp...that's it...that was the aguachile. First of all...that's not aguachile...at all. Because I'm nice and didn't want to offend anyone so I ate a couple bites and even took the rest to go (which I immediately threw in the garbage as soon as I found one). Secondly, how did I not end up with at least a severe case of diarrhea or worse find a short cut to my death? Not really sure, but even though I really wanted to like this place, there is no way you could pay me enough to go back. If you decide to take a gamble, do yourself a favor and stick to the bar only. Who knows what other unsanitary practices may be lurking. read more

I am so glad that a friend recommended this great spot! As soon as I walked in I knew it would be a hit. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, with cute floral oil cloth tablecloths, vibrant art and nice natural light. I had a delicious mojito (the best I have ever had! The bartender said he liked his more sour than sweet, and it was perfect! We ordered the pozole, flautas & chilaquiles and a cadillac margarita. There was no grand marnier float on the marg. There was NO seasoning in any of the food, it was all incredibly bland. No salt on the chips or in anything else. Even my wife who likes bland food didn't like anything here. She had 2 bites of the pozole and left it. We also waited over 30 minutes for our food. There were only 4 other people eating in the whole place (now I know why) but our food still took that long. The 2 men who came in way after us had nearly finished their food by the time ours came out. We won't be back. I had come with a larger table on a karaoke night before; some of us closer to the wall didn't get more water for the hour plus we were there, the waitress did get in at least 1-2 karaoke sessions though. The flautas tasted fishy like it was fried in the same oil as fish, and it did not come with the guac or sour cream as described in the menu for me or the person next to me, we couldn't easily leave the seats in the back corner and there wasn't anyone to ask to correct the issue unless I had gotten someone to get up to get staff. Maybe the waitress checked in with the table but only the side close to the center of the room. Some of us considered getting more food, drinks, or dessert but we didn't have the opportunity. Dirty table when sat down and it was very empty. No host to welcome you when you come in. Didn't take our drink order rather disappeared and showed up later with chips and ok salsa. Would've been nice to know they didn't have it before I ordered. Also why didn't they have it if it's on the menu? Mistakenly ordered terrible fish tacos and they were dry yet soggy at the same time. If it's going to be battered id expect it to be crunchier. Rice and beans okay I guess. They saw me take a picture I think so they brought us free shots to make up for it but I didn't want to drink. For the location being on Stockton blvd, the ambience wasn't run down which is good. I liked the bar but not the restaurant.
