Some people said they "prey on old people" and I believe it. I received an $8,000 quote for a car that needed $3,000 of work. It's nothing new - a shop gets a sparkly 5 star review after treating people right for a couple years then they turn into scumbags because their overall rating can take a couple hits. Let me elaborate. (All of the below validated by the DEALER) Automotive Evolution told me all my brakes were at 2mm and they must be replaced immediately, which was incorrect. The fronts were at 5mm and the rear at 3mm. This was simply a lie...and a very common one in the auto industry, unfortunately. Automotive Evolution recommended tie rods on the front be fully replaced because the rubber boots were starting to crack...the dealer noted the tie rods were completely fine and why would they replace a fully operational part. Automotive Evolution quoted $1,732 to replace engine mounts. The dealer did it for $1,300. How is an independent shop charging more than a dealer?!?!?! Automotive Evolution will charge you $53 to spray some degreaser on your drivetrain with a 1/4 bottle of degreaser that cost $8. They also noted there was no transmission fluid on the stick...there was, in fact, transmission fluid on the stick. Was really hoping to find a new shop for a long term relationship and quickly remembered how hard it is to find an honest mechanic.
