I am a frugal shopper these days so Gabe's fits my shopping style. I purchased a few things. I had been looking for a wreath or something else suitable to hang on my front door. I found the perfect "Welcome" sign with a sunflower matching my welcome mat for around 8 bucks so that was a major find compared to anything else I had found in other stores. I also bought a Dutch oven and a covered deep pan. For the Dutch oven I had to look in 2 different locations for one that had a price so that was annoying. The cleanliness and organization of this store is sub-par over several visits. You can be a thrift store and be tidy at the same time, trust me. Try some other thrift/discount stores and you will see (Rose's in West Mifflin for one or any Ollie's or Big Lots). So, over all, I give just 3 stars for OK but there are better ones for great deals. read more

I love Gabes... this is the thrifty side of me talking. Where else can you go and get American Eagle Jeans, yoga pants, converse socks, guess boots, NY&CO shirts, and a nine west purse all for under $100.00??? Actually I probably got more than that on my last trip... yea me! If you aren't a patient shopper and don't mind paying full retail, by all means shop elsewhere. This place will only frustrate you. However if you are like me then just give yourself about 2-3 hours to browse so you can keep an eye out for bargains. Be warned you may, actually you will run into an item you love just to discover a huge stain or a ripped seam or a missing button. It happens, look for duplicates. Also place isn't real clean continuing on with its frugal POV. Best advice...Try everything on before you purchase it...I mean EVERYTHING. I have visually missed a broken zipper or a small hole in the arm, but upon trying it on, the flaw is quickly found. Also they have a weird return policy so better off to play it safe... read more

Oh! What has happened to my favorite store! The treasures I remember finding there are no longer. My sister and I can tell you stories of piled high carts and exciting buys...like the French little black dress I bought marked 200 francs for $10... or the brand names at a fraction of the cost. Yes sometimes they were marked 'sample'... or had a little repair... but it was our favorite place to shop. We took a pilgrimage to Gabe's when we visited Pittsburgh this weekend and were shocked. It was in disarray with long mixed size racks. Mostly junk no name dresses made of terrible fabric. Where are the round racks each marked with a name brand? Ann Taylor, adidas, Liz Clayborn... and so many more! There were no pajamas at all... except for a rack of mis matched and damaged pieces. I found one dress, that is a Target brand and there was one tiny amount of Columbia jackets... their most boring and plain that I can get at the outlet for the same price (or cheaper!). We are mourning our fav store... so sad that it turned into this heap of cheap clothes! read more

I've grown to like this Gabes more and more. I've been shopping at Gabes since I was a kid and there was a Gabriel Sisters. I grew up going to one in Greensburg but when I moved to the city, I started going to this one. At first, this one used to frustrated me but I learned later its strengths. I love the junior, shoes, and handbag sections at this one. They base their product off the clientele that shops here. I recently shopped the fall boot selection and it was out of this world. I got a pair of gold boots for $4.99! Let me say that again for the people in the back: $4.99! I got another pair of cute booties for $9.99. The junior section takes patience but it's so worth it. Always shop the clearance racks first; you never know what you may find. The makeup and snacks will also sometimes surprise you. read more

As long as you keep in mind that this is a discount outlet with mostly seconds and discontinued items, you will not be disappointed with your experience. If you come in expecting good service, excellent organization and high quality items, you will be. It is hit or miss for me at this store. I've gone in and bought several pairs of great brand name shoes at half the price of regular retail and I've also visited and found not a single pair of shoes in my size (11). Catch the clearance racks. Often times dresses, jeans and tops will be marked down to $3! Last time I was in the store I got a nice pair of jeans, a wrap dress and two tops that were each only $3. You will have to wade through a lot of awful stuff too, but there are gems to be found. read more

I love Gabes and I absolutely hate Gabes, all at the same time. The people working here are rude and slow, and everything is chronically moved around literally everytime I shop here. BUT. The deals here absolutely cannot be beat unless you find something second-hand at Goodwill. You can find everything from $10 workout clothes (usually upwards of $70-$100) to carpets (again with the incredible prices) to namebrand shoes to friggin shampoo and phone chargers! I went the other day and bought throwback converse allstars for $14 bucks. Yes you heard me. These are still being sold normally for $55 elsewhere. So bottom line: don't expect any help at all on your shopping journey. Be prepared to look for a while to find everything you could ever want, and also be prepared to be amazed because you got that $400 Ralph Lauren coat for $50. read more

Wow... this place... yikes. My husband and I decided to check out Gabriel Brothers for the first time a week or two ago. I had seen several of them throughout the area but had never ventured inside over the 3 1/2 years that I've lived here. This store makes Wal-Mart look like Macy's and TJ Maxx look like Nordstrom. I'm sure that some good deals could be found here, but the overall assortment is very sub-par. It's so bad that Wal-Mart sells the items that they can't sell to this store. I know this because I bought an Ugly Sweater Party Chistmas turtleneck at Wal-Mart last holiday season and saw the exact same top here. So here are the reasons why you should shop at Gabriel Brothers: 1. You are very bored. 2. You are looking for extremely cheap home or kitchen items. 3. You are buying a gift for someone that you dislike. 4. You are looking for a ridiculous costume that may require an item like glitter cowgirl boots or a snowman turtleneck. read more

Gabes is my spot! Anyone who is a frequent Gabes shopper is usually always able to go in and find something. Preferably something with a great price. I like to visit to find the essentials, like workout gear, basic tee shirts and even may find some cool accessories from time to time. I also enjoy checking out their college gear section. Shout out to my Alma mater The Pennsylvania State University, WE ARE (for all my PSU lovers). Anyway, this visit was not like past trips to Gabes however. My girlfriend, her mom and I had stopped by one Saturday afternoon just to see what we might find. I immediately headed to the Men's clothing section where I did find some heat. Some heat that I was not accustom to finding. I noticed they had a Nike rack which had the popular tech fleece pants. If you are somewhat into sportswear you know about the NIke tech fleece sweats. Quality, slim fitting sweat pants that can almost pass as casual wear depending on what top you wear them with. Also if you are familiar, you will notice that anything with a Nike check on it can cost 100 bucks or more, but luckily I thought, I'm at Gabes! After peeping the price tag and seeing that these sweatpants were $50! I mean you can call me cheap, but I thought that was overpriced for Gabes. I shop here for the fair prices and the excitement of never knowing what you may find. I was a bit upset at the those prices I mentioned above. I still love Gabes and will continue to shop here. I have loved Gabe's since I was a kid. I practical lived at the Century III location. This location in Monroeville has been here for quite some time. I used to always be able to find something, but then they went and rearranged the whole store now I very rarely find something for myself, but I can always find something for my daughter. I was able to find a ton of t shirts, tank tops and shorts for her for under $3! I even found a perfect pair of jeans for $1! There are some good deals on snack food, household cleaning supplies, housewares and toiletries as well. I suggest going on a rainy day or just a day you don't have anything to do and take your time to sift through the racks. F.Y.I. Anything ending in $.00 price wise is final sale and none returnable. Gabe's is a test of patience. You really have to be in the mood for shopping. For as many great items that you find, you have to disregard 10 times more. But when you do find that gem, it is worth it. TOMS for $20. Sperry shoes for $20. It is awesome. I have had a lot of luck with housewares there. They get a lot of brand name items that are well under normal department store pricing. So grab a coffee, put on your headphones and carve out a few hours. It will be worth it when you find that gem. read more

I showed up 15 minutes before they closed with at least 8 customer cars still inside..tried to get in the door and they locked the doors and yelled me We are closed! I yelled back (Bc it was thru 2 glass doors) I know you close soon! I only need one thing!) and he walked away. I understand I cannot try clothes on, I wasn't planning on it, I rushed as fast as I could to get there for this one item before it sells out. Which more than likely it will be gone by the time I get out of work. It was just rude. I could have got a reasoning or an apology or sympathy that I would be in and out in 60 seconds. Gabes in Monroeville needs to find KINDER STAFF. All they are doing is making the company look back. I will more than likely not be back now. Also, my mother just told me this has happened to her one other time, they locked the front doors 30 minutes early. It's just unacceptable in my eyes being that I've been working in retail for over 10 years. Get it together. read more

I used to love this place but they have gone severely downhill. Safety precautions are a joke - they grab your card or phone to apply card or coupons and make it like you are rude if you resist. They turned me away one morning when opened saying not open yet but people clearly coming in and out. When I complained to customer service they said probably senior and high risk hours but it wasn't and I am high risk hence trying to shop early before crowds. Reward system has been horrible. I bought an item that you can't try on now and lighting is poor so when got home saw it had a hole and they would only return for minus coupon amount even though I had a cart worth of over $30 I was going to buy but instead left it and got just as good and more stuff at Ollies down the street. When I called customer service to complain they said doesn't matter you lose any rewards when you return even if item damaged. I have also found more items with holes not readily apparent at store and since cant try on don't notice til get home. This location should be closed. It is awful and they couldn't care less about customers. The company needs to either get rid of its Reward system or make it fair. Awful multiple experiences after years of it being like my favorite store. Too many alternatives to put up with all that for a few good deals. read more

I always find something. They don't have the best shoe selections but have a variety of clothes. The junior department is the best here although you can find clothes for the entire family. It's a discounted department store, but watch out for snags and irregular seems. You must chk all merchandise thoroughly before purchasing as if it was in perfect condition, it may not have been there. They sale a variety of products although I only go for the clothes. Everything changes regularly, so if you like it, buy it all. The return policy is good. read more

The Century III Mall location is my favorite. I rarely find something I like here. I keep telling myself I won't shop here again, but sometimes you are just compelled to check the clearance racks. Hard to pass up something new for $3.00. But everything must be tried on! read more
