I took my truck to Gabriels Automotive shop this morning to have them change the engine oil and break pads for my truck. The owner, an expert mechanic with at least 25 years of experience, informed me that the wheel discs are severely damaged and that they needed to be changed. He showed me the damaged parts, as well as the oil leak in the front shock absorbers. I authorized him to replace all damaged parts. Upon my request, he estimated that the cost would be $500 and that it would take about 3 hours to finish the work on my truck. The work was done within 3 hours and the total cost was $450, less than estimated. In addition to the above repairs, he adjusted the rear parking breaks and cleaned the break chambers in the rear wheels, at no extra cost to me. The owner also informed me that it was about time to replace the timing belt of the engine. I have been taking my truck to Gabriels Automotive shop for the last seven years, and I never had any problems with their services and repairs. My truck always funcntions smoothly. I also think that their prices are fair compared to other shops and dealerships. I would never continue taking my truck to their shop if I did not trust their work ethics. Based on my observation, the shop owner always informs his customers of the issues in their vehicles before starting the repairs. I have seen other customers leaving with satisfaction after they had their vehicles serviced at this shop. In conclusion, Gabriels Automotive is reliable and trustworthy. read more

As far as my wife and I are concerned, we will not take our cars to another mechanic as long as we are in Southern California. I've taken my vehicle to Gabriel's automotive off and on for years and have always been very happy with the service and feedback I've received. Mike knows his stuff inside out and operates with honesty. We recently moved from Pasadena to Monrovia and I brought my Nissan to a nearby AAA certified mechanic in Monrovia for my gear shift not shifting out of park (and the car sometimes not starting). I was told by this mechanic that due to a broken brake switch that could not be replaced independently from the gear shift unit, the whole unit would need to be replaced for $850+. In light of this pricey diagnosis, my wife and I both felt the drive (and tow) to Gabriel's Automotive in Pasadena to get Mike's opinion was needed since we've come to trust his expertise so much. Gabriel's Automotive quickly diagnosed the problem, saying the brake switch needed to be replaced (NOT the whole gear shift unit) - which they could take care of for less than $150. I got my car back within a few hours and it started right up and is running great. I just picked up my car 20 minutes ago from Gabriel's Automotive. I have been going to Gabriel's for about 8 years now as they are not only really good, but they are reasonably priced and most of all TRUSTABLE. Mike will not BS you. He's a straight shooter and KNOWS what he's talking about. I even brought my father to meet him (who was in the auto parts industry for over 40 years) and it verified what I had already thought. The first time I talked to Mike on the phone it was because my car wouldn't start and needed to be towed. For a reasonable price, he towed it, fixed and even gave me a ride both ways. After that, I kept going to Gabriel's as they haven't steered me wrong (no pun intended!). It's hard to find someone you can trust with your car - especially an older car that can easily turn into a money-pit. Mike has probably saved me money on my vehicle by choosing to do work and maintenance only when necessary, and definitely when safety is an issue. Keep in mind, I drive a LOT and have not broken down on the road since going to Gabriel Automotive. What could be more important than that? I give Gabriels Automotive & Towing 5 stars. I have been affected by this economy (as many have), and find myself owning a "beater". At least it is a Honda, but my experience during the last 15 years was in having a new/fairly new Honda and taking it to the dealer for everything. I know enough to not take a beater to the dealership. A beater is not worth the prices (that I can't afford). So when my radiator, in the beater, cracked I was very uncomfortable in finding a Mechanic whom I could trust would be honest about the problem(s) and fair in pricing. My friend recommended Mike who owns Gabriel's Automotive, and upon meeting him, I was instantly relieved. He is knowledgeable, honest, fair, and quick! He had my car finished (radiator, thermostat, oil change, overall checkout) in just a few hours without a prior appointment! I was really surprised, as they were full and busy when I got there. I've been trusting Gabriel's with the care of my 2 cars for around 10 years and could not be happier. Besides keeping my newish Nissan in great shape, they also have the experienced mechanics to deal with my 79 Bronco's carburetor. They've been available to get me to and from the shop, and I've always felt that I've had a fair and honest deal with the services they've provided. Moreover, it seems to me that the number of repeat customers I've seen is a good indicator of their service quality. I want to keep my cars running well for as long as possible, and I think they've made that possible. I also want to be secure in knowing that my car is safe while on a drive in the mountains, to the desert, or around LA, and I've been quite confident that it is. When I've planned an extended drive, I've dropped by for a check-up and they've been more than accommodating to make certain that everything is in great shape for a road trip. My catalytic converter was stolen off my Toyota Corolla when it was on the street in Pasadena last week (I've parked on the street for 2 years previously with no issues). This has never happened to me before so it was a pain to figure out how to get it fixed. Luckily, I went on Yelp and saw Gabriel's Automotive had great reviews so I checked them out. Best decision I made! Mike answered the phone promptly and was very knowledgeable on how to get my car fixed up. He answered all my questions and was transparent with me on the process. Seriously, get a catalytic shield if you can because a new catalytic converter is so hard to come by! Mike was a miracle worker and even with a nationwide backorder, he somehow was able to fix my car in about a week. I was shocked and so thankful! My wife and I have been going to Gabriel's for years. Mike runs a great shop and is perhaps the most honest auto mechanic I have ever met. We own a few Toyotas. The official Toyota dealership nearby charges about four times what Mike charges for repairs --- plus, the dealership has charged us for repairs we didn't need or repairs for problems that were their fault. Mike would never do that. Many times I have taken one of our cars in to Gabriel's with a problem that Mike fixes in about five minutes. "No charge" is a frequent reply when I ask about payment. As you might know, it costs about eighty bucks just to have the Toyota dealer look at your car. Really, I can't say enough good stuff about Mike and Gabriel's. If potentially expensive auto problems have been plaguing you, Gabriel's is your relief. They really know their stuff; plus, they're fair, honest and thorough. read more

I have been a customer of Gabriel's for several years now and have always been happy with the service and the work done there. Over the years I have come to trust Mike the owner, and I can say that he is genuinely very knowledgeable about cars and really seems to like working on them. He is definitely a car nut and we often "talk shop" or about whatever personal car project he is working on. He has always been up front about what needs to be done immediately versus what can wait a while which is really appreciated when you are on a budget. Mikes shop is clean and comfortable and he always seems to be expanding his abilities and keeping up with the times. His prices are always fair and estimates pretty spot on. I was fortunate enough to find Gabriel's Automotive about four years ago when looking for an AAA approved shop to perform a thorough inspection on a used BMW 525i I was looking at in Pasadena. Well, fortunately Mike helped steer me away from that one however I did end up with another which I've since brought back to Gabriel's several times for normal maintenance repairs. I'm on my seventh BMW in nearly 40 years and I've done plenty of work on my own Bimmers in the past. Point is, I'm well aware when I'm being "taken for a ride". You won't find that here. 15 years ago, my mom took her car to Sears for an oil change & was told that she needed the timing belt replaced ASAP before it brakes & causes an accident. I was EXTREMELY pleased with the customer service, work performed, price and trustworthiness for work completed by Michael and his team on my Honda Accord. I have been very busy these last few months and was negligent on my car maintenance. I was from out of town and had mistakenly filled my sons diesel truck up with regular gas. I was totally freaked out when I pulled into Gabriel's at closing time. Without hesitation Mike and his guy came to my rescue. They spent the next two hours pumping out 35 gallons of gas and doing their best to make sure the truck was fine. They were very generous and even helped tighten down some loose parts on the truck so that we would be safe on the road trip we were about to do. I own a 2002 BMW 323 and a 2000 Acura Integra. I had always taken them both to the dealership for services. But as times have gotten tough I decided to find an independent mechanic.. I had a problem with my car stalling and took it to the dealer at least 3 time. They couldn't figure out the problem and kept wasting by time. After much frustration, I finally went to Gabriel's and talked to Mike. He kept my car overnight and said he would call me with a diagnosis. After speaking to Mike I gave him authorization to work on my car and he fixed it in 1 day!! He told me to drive it around and if i had any problems to bring it back. Had to give Gabriels 5 stars. Have taken my Toyota Tundra in for repairs on 2 different occasions and am very pleased with my experience with them. Mike whom I dealt with is very nice to deal with and seems honest and straightforward. He gave me a great price to replace a sensor, timing belt and water pump. Was soo pleased when I picked up my truck I had him work on my honda civic which I also had him replace the water pump and timing belt. I told him I was having trouble with my brakes, he checked out the problem and said I needed to turn my rotors which he did for FREE.
