Not too bad service here. Had to bring my daughters phone in to get a screen repaired. She was pretty rough on it so it was completely cracked. They have upfront pricing so you know exactly how much you will be paying before tax. I came in on a Monday evening and drop the phone off. They did not have any screens in stock so they said they would have to order it and they would call me when it was done. By Wednesday I received the call that was finished picked up. Everything worked properly. It was 167 after taxes, and it came with a six month warranty, but it does not cover accidents only if anything malfunctions after it was repaired. read more

RIP OFF ALERT...THEY'RE CROOKS AND DESPERATE FOR MONEY! Called prior to taking my husband's cellphone to them for a possible repair. The only problem with my husband's phone is that it would not charge. A guy quoted my husband a $20 non-refundable fee to open the phone and take a look inside. When I got there a guy name Dorian waited on me. Dorian explained that if the phone needed a repair, I would be charged $100. If the port needed to be replaced it would then be $140. The $20 non-refundable would apply to the cost. I get home and only live maybe ten minutes away from the store. My husband said Gadget Guru called and said it would be $140 to fix it ( no way they opened the phone up to look at it). The guy also told my husband he suspects water damage and that would cost more. My husband and I went down to pick the phone back up and declined the repair. My husband told the guy that waited on us that he could tell the phone had never been opened for them to take a look at it. The guy couldn't even keep a straight face when trying to lie. They're liars and complete rip-offs. The store is a junky mess in the front. I hope they go out of business for what they have done to people. read more

Gadget Guru diagnosed the problem and got the printer back to me quickly. The lied to me!!! I brought in a camcorder for them to fix and when they said they couldn't, they offered to digitize my tapes. After 10 days, they told me they couldn't and gave everything back to me. I then asked for my deposit back and they refused. Now, getting my credit card company involved. Ha Your business takes upfront money to even look at a item. When picking up repaired item, more $ is owed. I stopped by after a week. &it wasn't ready. The first time the item was picked up = it didn't work. While I appreciate the10 minutes the employee took ( trying to make it work, while in my vehicle) She couldn't get it to work. I was told to leave it to be looked at. After COVID happened, I was reluctant to go out . I then received the blunt call, the item would be thrown out. If not picked up immediately. When I returned to pick up the item =it didn't work. And No one should have to pay for services not provided. I was asked to sign & was very pissed off! I have never written a review before this one****** I went in to have my volume button fixed because I dropped my phone and the button would not raise the volume on my brand new iphone se 2020. When I got it back the silencing switch did not work and I could hear jiggling on the inside. They took it back and said they didn't glue the battery down correctly and that was causing the rattling. Even more issues occurred with my phone after this. At this point I had been there SIX TIMES and just wanted a refund. I was promised a refund multiple times by two people under the conditions that they put the old part back into my phone. I asked for that deal. They said they could do that, but were "required to take a look at the inside of the phone to see what they did wrong first" I made it clear multiple times that they could do that, but I did not want them to try to repair it again as I had been promised it was fixed many times before and more issues ensued. They agreed, but they called me saying they 'fixed it' and they would not be giving me a refund. When I asked to speak to the owner I was told he was too busy and they referred me to a basic store email and said he could get back to me by NEXT WEEK. They would not provide me with a direct phone or email to contact him with and refused to even tell me his first name!! I am very disappointed with this company. They did replace it with a new screen but I couldn't tap the top of my iPad and then when I turned it I couldn't touch the bottom. The games also PLAYED THEMSLEVES! I also had a broken charging port and I also received NO phone calls from them regarding the situation. After 5 days since ordering the part, I had heard nothing, so I called them. The man said it was to be arriving that day, but was "being delivered to the other store." Since when does FedEx take 5 days anyway? He also kept saying it was a battery, when I clearly needed a new charging port. I went up there Saturday after receiving no word about whether they got it from the other store, and they said "Yes, it's here, we'll call you in about an hour when it's done." Well, 2 hours later, no call. So I go back, and he says the part was defective. Says they'll overnight another part to be there on Monday, and they'll call me when it's in. Sounds like it probably was a battery after all and the whole visit was a waste of my time. It is now Thursday, and NO CALL. I called again to find out where it is and he says it "should be here today." When I told him it was supposed to be overnighted on Saturday to be there Monday, he had nothing to say. Literally, no apology or anything. I believe whenever you call to check on a part since they don't call you, you're told "tracking shows it will be here today." I truly believe they are told to tell customers this. This is the worst service. 11 days later and no solution. I honestly don't understand how a business can just not contact their customers multiple times, as promised. I came here hoping they could fix my laptop. I paid a $50 diagnostic fee and after waiting over a week for "diagnostics" they tell me that they need to replace the screen for an extra $350. Customer service is NOT a priority. I had a 95% functional 4s with minor water damage. Their diagnosis process somehow locked my iPhone, impossible to unlock, for 43 YEARS, yes YEARS, leaving a restore to default as my only option - basically everything lost (yes I'm dumb for not backing it up). Offered ZERO apology, placed blame on me for having "special security software" - not the case. I am a junior iOS developer and have a decent amount of knowledge of how Apple devices work; they somehow triggered the deactivate process over and over and over again to rack up 23 million minutes of deactivation time-out. For some reason, I thought that I would come back to give them another shot...clean a used iPhone 5 that I had to buy because my 4s was unusable. Wanted to charge $50 for a cleaning, I asked for a discount because of the botch on my 4S, they told me to take a hike. Worst of all, the manager who kept being so rude wouldn't do it to my face, he had his poor helper relay messages back and forth from behind a wall 5 feet away. Please avoid Gadget Guru in Owings Mills. I went to get a price on replacing the back glass on a phone. The first time I was there, they told me $60. The second time, when I was going to put down a down payment, they told me $120 and I walked out. Stupidly, I went back and they wrote up the order for $100 (???) and I put down a down payment. They told me that they would call me when the part came in, about 2 days. 6 days later I called them and they told me it had just come in that morning and had been backordered. (yeah, right???) I picked up the "fixed" phone yesterday. I noticed that the back was very rough on the outside but had a child in the car and didn't want to make her wait anymore. I picked the phone up today and noticed that there were lots of cracks on the back - mostly going to the rough spots on the outside. I brought the phone in and, long story short, all four people in the store are refusing to fix it. They accused me of dropping it and they disregarded the rough parts on the outside. I did that the next day & paid the deposit. I was told the part would be in and the repair would be done w/in 2-3 days. Each time I called I was told the part was on the way. I made it clear all along that I had a hard deadline of the 4th for the repair. GG never got the part & then, even after I emailed Paul, never refunded my deposit. I called them & now I'm told I have to drive back there to get my deposit back. Paul seems to be avoiding my calls and hasn't returned email. I have been to this location about a month ago for a broken iPhone screen and everything went well. Over this past weekend I took my sons cell phone back for repair and they fixed the repair, unfortunately it was not under warranty due to broken screen. Gadget Guru was kind enough to cut the price of repair in half and threw in a screen protector, which they did not need to do. After that experience, I took our MacBook Pro for repair and it took them all of 3 hours to fix at a very reasonable cost. I usually don't write reviews but I thought this was well deserved. How hard can it be to pick up the phone and call your customer and let him know that the service that they wanted cannot be performed? I was pleasantly surprised by the computer repair skills of the technician Alex (and his associates too) and an honest appraisal of the situation at hand. I was trying to replace the internal mvne m.2 SSD in my HP Spectre laptop with a higher capacity one and in the process of opening the underside cover I ran into some problem--one of the screws would not turn and appeared to have been overly tightened at the factory. My efforts to get it out resulted in screw head being damaged. I took it to this Gadget Guru location in Columbia after an unsuccessful try by Best Buy Geek Squad. Alex said he will try to get it out without damaging the cover but with no guarantee. He called a couple of hours later and said he wasn't successful. We both agreed that a visit to HP authorized service center at Micro Center (in Towson and Rockville) might be worthwhile. The tech at Micro Center in Towson took a cursory look at the problem and declared he can't do it and it need to be sent back to HP. I brought it back to Gadget Guru and Alex agreed to take another shot at it and said there might be some damage to the back cover, and he will try to keep it to a minimum. I agreed. Next day he called and said he was able to do it and there are some minor scratches and may be some warping of the back cover. Long story short--Alex was able to accomplish what Geek Squad and HP authorized service center tech at Micro Center could not! His honesty and skill set are both highly praiseworthy. The fee for this service was quite reasonable considering the time he had spent on the problem and fixing it. I will be returning here for all my future electronics repair needs. Really over-priced but they are speedy at fixing cracked phones. Nice people too. My warning is the screen they use to fix it leaves a very yellow and grainy tint over your screen. Colors are all screwed up and makes the image look like it was taken on an Android. read more

I stopped by Gadget Guru on Saturday hoping they can fix my iPhone that flew out of the window while I was driving. The employee explained to me in very detail on his diagnosis on what he can do since the frame was bent. Since he was honest about it so I was comfortable having him fix my phone.
