Had to get my phone fixed for water damage and took few hours and $$$ but it worth it vs buying a new phone. By leaving my phone with guys in getting a water treatment my phone is working. There is still traces of damage however it's seems to be going away with the hours passing. read more

For the longest time I disagreed with the negative reviews because I never had an issue. Well, not anymore. They will absolutely lie,cheap and steal what they can from customers. After many trips there to get the same item repaired they decided to lie and not issue a full refund for an unnecessary repair. They have too much pride to realize a customer made several trips to their place and you still couldnt repair the phone. Emailed the owner twice and no response. Go ahead and keep the un returned portion that you agreed upon. You'll need it to pay your rent, because the more people that realize how you operate the less customers youll have. read more

I had to take in my laptop to get the hinges repaired, plus the plate surrounding my screen was splitting apart. After everything, the repair in its totality costed less than $200, less than I would've expected and definitely less than if I took it most anywhere else to get fixed. Computer has worked and has not given me any problems ever since. The only complaint I have/demerit I give to Gadget Guru is that communicating with them was below average. It took me over two weeks to hear what the specific repairs that needed to be done to my laptop were, what the cost of getting it fixed would be, and that it would be finished in 3-5 business days and that they'd call when the repair was completed and ready for pick-up. I however had not heard anything for another two weeks and by the time I called in, they said that the repairs were completed the day before and that my laptop was ready for pick-up, however I didn't get any sort of call the day before about my computer being finished and ready for pick-up. Hopefully this is an issue they can correct in the future, because otherwise their service is pretty good and they were cordial and otherwise satisfying to deal with. read more

DON'T TAKE ANY ELECTRONIC TO GADGET GURU, OWINGS MILLS, MD The motto on their website is "Bringing Gadgets Back To Life" - well they KILLED mine. Gadget Guru, located at 11000 Owings Mills Blvd, Suite 6B, took my fully, functional Surface Pro 2 and turned it into a paperweight that won't turn on. Refused to accommodate me for destroying my computer and even refused to refund me my $50 deposit. I have lost valuable documents like my tax returns and records about my deceased mother, and the manager, "Rolance", only response was for me to pay a data recovery company to try to retrieve my data." On 10/9/17, I took my Surface to Gadget Guru because it had just started having issues maintaining battery life when off the charger. Other than that, the Surface worked fine. I was told it would take about a week to diagnose and repair. Two weeks later, I am calling to find out what is going on and was told it was a "defective motherboard" that damaged the battery, it would cost $340 to order and replace, and take another week. I ok'd the repairs. Called them after more than a week passed and was told the replacement motherboard was delayed and would be a few more days. Then, on 10/31/17, someone calls me to offer me the owner/COO used Surface Pro 3 for $250 (for a total of $300 including the $50 deposit). I turned down this offer because I wanted my computer with my information on it, plus I had a top of the line Surface 2, not the base model like the used Surface 3 that was offered to me for sale. That should have raised my red flag then that something was wrong. On 11/5/17, the manager Rolance calls me to say that the part they were waiting for turned out to be defective and (supposedly) that was the ONLY part available in the U.S. They could search outside the U.S. for the part but it would COST ME MORE. I asked to just return my laptop and was then advised FOR THE FIRST TIME that my laptop was no longer working, in fact, it won't even turn on and there is no guarantee that any data on the machine can be retrieved even if I took it to a data retrieval company. Essentially, whatever they did to my computer killed it and no one ever said anything to me. I asked if diagnosing a "defective motherboard" meant destroying my computer and losing all of my data why would Gadget Guru not indicate that to me before anything was done so I could make an informed decision as to whether I wanted to take the chance and back-up my data beforehand or just take my WORKING laptop back and face the fact that I would have to leave it plugged up to use it. Rolance response was "I thought you knew that." I am not a computer expert, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. After a few choice words, I picked up my now Surface paperweight and was told I would not receive any compensation at all for destroying my laptop. I am still pursuing further action, but want to avoid this from happening to any others in the interim. read more

Gadget Guru on Owings Mills Blvd. is the worst place ever!!! I took a cell phone in to have a charging port replaced, I was quoted $65.00 and 24 to 48 hrs for the phone to be ready. 2 days later my husband called to check in on it and they repeatedly lied about calling us...they had two correct contact numbers...then they upped the price and told us the part was not in stock it was going to be ordered. 11 days later, my phone is still not fixed and now more broken. They broke my touch screen rendering the phone useless. Now they are claiming no responsiblity to the broken phone. Never again will I use their service and I will pass this on to all of my friends. read more

Sadly I totally shattered my cell phone screen. I checked with my current cell phone protection plan and it didn't covered cracked screens. I also checked with my cell carrier as well as other retailers to see what the cost would be. I was referred to Gadget Guru and was pleasantly surprised that they believed they could fix my phone. When I returned to pick it up I was blown away by the repair. You couldn't even tell my screen had been shattered and the price to fix it was very reasonable. The guys were also very nice and customer oriented. You can pay a minimal fee to have your item assessed and if you choose to go through with the repair, what you've already paid is applied to the balance. Hopefully I won't have to use them again but I'm glad they're around and will definitely recommend them! read more

Great service and great price. My wife and I both needed cracked iPhone screens replaced. Gadget replaced screens while we had lunch nearby, and gave us a 5% discount for bringing in both phones at the same time. i had a shattered phone screen. i went here and was told the replacement would be in 2-3 days and fixed on the next day. after waiting over a week it wasn't fixed and after a few more days i call and find out its been fixed for the past week , so why didn't anyone call me to tell me? i go to get it, the bill was reasonable...i guess after the $50 down payment. but when i got half way home i noticed the screen at the bottom was not completely flat in the phone like the top was. i went back and they said they cant do anything about it and that it was fine when they fixed it. a few months later, and what i expected to happen, the screen broke and yes from the popped up bottom side. I'm not going back to be basically robbed and get a half fixed phone. don't go here if you actually want your repair to last and actually get your item fixed read more

I have read other reviews about this company this location and their other locations and its sucks to hear that people got such horrible service! There is a part of me that truly believes that some (not all!) are fake reviews from competing businesses. The only reason I say this is because I've been using their services for the past three years and have had nothing but absolute exceptional service. Each time I have used them, they are professional, friendly and straight to the point. I have had two phones fixed by them and my fiance has had his phone repaired by them as well. Every time the repair has been completed within the given time frame if not before. I also find their prices to be extremely reasonable. I really like this business and they make things as simple and efficient as possible. I have never had anything other than a phone repaired though, so I cannot speak on behalf of game system repair. They recently started doing 3D printing as well, how cool is that?! Everyone should try this business, you wont be disappointed! read more

My son took his iMac in back on 2/15/17 for an issue where the computer was hanging up in the "grey screen" during the boot up process. They reloaded the operating system, charged him $150 and said it was fixed. He took it home, started having the same issues again. I took it back for him on 2/16, told them it was having the same issues and that I thought the drive was bad. They gave me some song and dance about running a drive diagnostic and that it could be the logic board or the GPU. After 6 days, they finally called my son and told him that they were going to replace the drive (gee...guess this old guy knows a little bit about technology afterall). That was Wednesday of last week. Work still isn't done, haven't heard anything from them yet either. Just left a message for them this morning. If I could rate this store with no stars I would. I brought my computer in on a Thursday to have a virus removed and they said they may not have it done by the end of the day, which was fine. I called at the end of the day Friday (since I had heard nothing from them) and they still didn't have it done. I then asked if they would please keep in touch with me to let me know what is going on. I called again Saturday to see if it was completed and they said they would check and let me know. I never did get a return call from them. Here it is Monday and I still do not have my computer or any idea when it will be ready. I agree with Bryan B. Buyer beware. read more

I got my son's ipod touch 4th gen screen replaced at Gadget Guru in Owings Mills. Everyone was very friendly and professional. They did a great job replacing the screen which was not only cracked but missing chunks of glass. The repair cost the amount quoted and was completed in a timely manner. My teenage daughter lost her head and forgot her iphone was in her back pocket causing the phone to take an unintended swim in the porcelain pond. She took the phone to Gadget Guru later that day and Roland spent a day and half working on the water damage. In the end, the home button had to be replaced and she lost Touch ID but the phone works and she didn't lose any data, music, pictures, etc. It cost $70 to fix the water damage and $50 for the home button replacement but it was well worth it. The phone had just been paid off and was out of warranty. I am surprised by the bad reviews. My only other experience was when my other daughter dropped her phone and the screen cracked. They charged $60 for a new screen and it did take a few days for the screen to come in but they were very professional and very pleasant to deal with. read more

They fixed a lens in my PS3 and a week later it locked up again. They re-formatted the hard drive for me at no charge. Not bad as I was expecting a battle, but they came through. Kudos to the gurus. read more

Bad customer service, bad tech support. Brought a laptop in to be diagnosed they say they would call back in 24 hours once the figure out what is going on, waited a week no call. i called back they had not looked at the problem and the response was well it turns on. Whaat!!! The person on the phone that could not care less and was being fed the answers to my questions by someone who also sounded distracted he said just tell him it's the monitor. I asked again for them to diagnose the problem again was told they would call back in 24 hours once the figure out what is going on. Waited another week and half still no call. I finally called them response was still it well it turns on. When I asked if they figured it out the problem the voice in the back said just tell him it is the motherboard. Never going to them again!!!!!!! Would not recommend at all. Waited almost a month to hear well it turns on. Buyer beware. read more

Took my ipad3 to have a new glass screen replaced, and was very satisfied with the repair.

Four months ago I had my laptop repaired because there was a short where I plug in the power cord. This is a fairly common problem and once every year or so the problem re-appears. (Previously, I had this repair done by another company, a company I will now use again.) So, when the same problem appeared to come up six months earlier than usual, I was less than happy. I say "appeared," because while the power supply jack didn't appear shorted, I kept getting a message saying that the internal battery wasn't charging. In any event, I went back to Gadget Guru and the gentleman behind the counter did his triage, told me I was one month out of the company's warranty and it appeared that the same repair, the one they did just four month's earlier would have to be done again. I paid the $50 deposit so that they could look at my computer, but I specifically told them that if the $50 didn't cover it, I didn't want them working on my computer. Two weeks later, after not hearing from them I called. I was told the computer was repaired and the bill would be $100. I explained the situation to the person who picked up the phone and he gave me back my attitude and then some. He asked me, point blank, did I want him to un-do the repair. I told him I would take care of it when I picked up the computer. I picked up the computer, reminded the same cashier of what I had previously discussed with him (that I didn't want him to work on the computer if the cost was more than my $50 deposit) and I went home, glad to have my computer back. Once I got home I plugged in the computer and the same "battery not charging" issue showed up on the screen. I brought the computer back. This time I was "under warranty." Five days later, after I didn't hear from the store, I called in. The problem was fixed. Apparently, the battery wasn't pushed in all the way and that's why there was a problem. So, I asked, when I picked up the computer, if the problem was caused by my failure to push my battery all the way in, why did I have to pay $100 for this repair. Apparently, my $100 fixed the issue and then when I went home and immediately plugged in my power supply, I somehow caused the problem to magically re-appear again. I SO regret taking my 6-month old laptop to the Columbia location. The hinge and casing needed to be replaced and I was specific in what I wanted done. They assured me they could fix it quoting a price of $70-120 when I left the store. Forty minutes later, I received a call that it would be around $250 after they "opened it up." Three days later, a quote of $280 and then finally, $340 which I advised my company not to pay. I called on November 1st to discuss and the price was dropped back to $250. The kicker was when it was picked up and delivered back to me this past Tuesday, November 5th, they replaced the top with an old beat-up, scratched up top. I immediately took it back to the store making my displeasure known of how the entire transaction was handled and showed them the condition of the top they removed and what they replaced it with. They admitted to replacing it with a used part. Paul, the manager stated, "that we always replace with used parts and we always tell our customers this." I refuted that NO ONE told us any such thing and you had the nerve to want to charge $340 for a part that was used. It has nicks and scratches on it and I've taken photos just in case I take them to court. His offer to resolve the issue was to take it off and put my broken one back on. Previously, I told the manager when they kept jacking the charges up that I didn't want to put the company on blast about it because I wanted to give an opportunity for them to handle it professionally. Additionally, I really don't think this is my laptop after looking at the bottom of it today (which is my first time using it since being picked up), the bottom is also scratched up, the mouse on the computer does not work nor does it charge WITH the plug. I have chosen at this point to make ALL CONSUMERS AWARE so that you won't be scammed by this company. I currently have a call in to the owner to see if he's going to rectify this situation. Hopefully, he will do what is honorable. If not, I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and any other Consumer Groups. read more
