Deep menu of Cantonese dishes. -- Clams in Black Bean Sauce: Smallish portion and small clams, especially compared with South Garden in Quincy, who makes a stellar rendition. Tasty sauce, with a little heat to it thanks to red and green peppers. Well cooked and solid enough dish despite the size issues. -- Beef Filet with Black Pepper Sauce (rice plate): In the beef world, the word "filet" connotes tenderness, which wasn't present here. Very chewy meat, well coated with a slightly peppery sauce that seemed fairly tame relative to the name. Hefty pile of rice and medium pile of meat. Not a bad meal. Not a bad price. This is one of those typical Cantonese restaurants in Chinatown. Actually we have been to this place several times but I have to say their quality is really going downhill lately. I am not sure whether they have changed the chef or not. Our last visit were quite disappointed. We went to Ga Ga on the recommendation of a Yelp Elite and Barron of Chinatown, so we had high hopes. It did not disappoint. Located on Tyler st on the second floor, it's easy to miss. I've probably walked by the place dozens of times and never noticed it. We were promptly seated. Staff were very friendly and gave us complementary tea when we sat down. The interior is two rooms and they have big tables that would be good for groups. What we got: - Hot and sour soup - Eggplant and short rib hot pot - Lobster sautéed in ginger scallion sauce The hot and sour was maybe the best I've had. It was packed with tofu, mushrooms, and a delicious broth. We ordered a "small" it was huge! The eggplant and short rib was without a doubt the best I've had. The eggplant was perfectly cooked. The beef was incredibly tender. All in a perfect sauce. It came out in a sizzling bowl. This is a dish to dream of. The sautéed lobster was also a knock-out. Perfectly cooked. Gaga has been here for a long time. It's a very tiny space, but can accommodate larger party on their inner side tables. The space is built out like a U-shape. The entrance side has small tables for parties of 2-4. Now the quality can be hit or miss on certain dishes but overall it's yum, canto style food. Service pretty quick, they always take care my group when we roll thru on the occasions. Wow! Wow! Wow! We have been in Boston for several days and have been underwhelmed by the variety of food we have had here. Our visit to Gaga Seafood changed that! We ordered the hot and sour soup, ginger scallion lobster, and the rosted pork lo mein. The soup was true to it's name hot and sour... a welcomed burst of flavor to my Mexican palate! Solid Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. The restaurant isnt anything fancy, but food is fresh, yummy, hot and affordable. We came here for dinner on a Friday and didn't have to wait for a table for 2. When you walk in there are only a few tables, but it seems like they have another back room that seats more people. This is a great place to get delicious lobster at good value. We came to this place based on Yelp reviews and because we were craving for lobsters. From the outside, the restaurant seems small, but it has ample space inside. They have a few round tables, which is always preferred for these type of shared meals. The staff were efficient and friendly. They recommended good dishes for us to try. And they did not disappoint. We can out of the restaurant feeling satisfied without breaking the bank. I especially enjoyed the variety of dishes that we got. They had their own unique taste that made me eat more. Everyone, especially the kids, wanted seconds (and thirds and fourths). Gaga is a solid choice for authentic Chinese cuisine! Since it's Chinatown, parking is tough. These are some street parking and a private parking lot nearby. It's a small restaurant with a basic plain interior. I highly recommend the Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper, Bird's Nest, Deep Fried Crispy Chicken, Spicy Salt Calamari, Beef with Vegetable, Peking Style Pork Chop, Fish Casserole, Sliced Pork, Chicken, and Roast Pork w/ Bean Sprout on Pan Fried Noodles. All of these dishes were delicious and cooked perfectly. For a Chinese restaurant, the service was excellent! I've been to this restaurant multiple times and each time is a good experience! They're small and don't look like much at first glance, but the food is delicious and very authentic. One of the chefs recently came here from another restaurant in town that we used to frequent. He's the OG. He makes the best suan cai yu (sichuan fish with pickled mustard greens). It's such a comfort food for me. The spice & flavor is hard to find elsewhere in town! The ginger & scallion twin lobsters were so fresh and tasty. Cooked just right. Nobody likes overcooked seafood! I also loved the garlic snow pea shoots/leaves. My favorite vegetable dish at Chinese restaurants. My family rave about their garlic yellow eel pot! I'm not that big on eel, but this dish was cooked so well and was so tasty, I ate quite a bit myself! The owner is very friendly and knows my aunt. They always treat us like family. My friends and I came on a Thursday afternoon to find it almost empty. But by the end of our meal around 8:30 pm it was almost full! Server was nice and very efficient with taking our orders and completing any tasks. We shared Beef, egg and tomato plate, pork chow foon, Shrimp and Walnut with Mayo Sauce and Kung Pao Chicken. My favorite was definitely the beef since it was saucy, savory and slightly sweet. I would have preferred more of a gravy with the chow foon but I know some places make it more on the dry side. This was our first Chinese meal in Boston and we found this place. It's not fancy but we were pleased with the quality of the lobster and pea tips. The pea tips are pretty expensive at $23 but it's what my wife wanted. This is also our first Boston lobster so we don't have any other comparison. I came here for lobsters because they have a special for 2 lobsters for $46 but tbh other than beef chow fen I can't recommend anything else. The lobsters are small but given the price I will let it slide. The satay beef is super weird. They give large portions but they also added clear noodle which is super weird and not very delicious with not enough satay sauce. The steamed giant clam is priced $7 a piece but they basically spread 1.5 clams with a lot of clear noodle to make it look like 3 giant clams with 3 shells so if you do the math they are not as cheap as they make them out to be. I'd rather they charge full price like $10 but gives you the actual full amount. I know this because I cook at home and then I know how much meat is in 1 clam. As for lobster I have a feeling they just cook a bunch and give you pieces with 2 heads but they are alright. The best is beef chow fen which is surprisingly good. This is a cheap restaurant so ambience sucks with noisy diners and crammed seating. Don't take your date unless you've been together for a long time. I went to this place yesterday for a "quick" lunch takeout. I noticed I could order through Yelp which connects via grub hub. I kid you not this order of two items took me exactly 1 hour from order to pick up. It was anything but quick. It was a huge waste of time. People at the restaurant were not getting their food either despite being seated for a long time. There were two ladies running the entire dining room and take out orders. The salt and pepper pork chops were good. They were fried well and the spices were a nice touch and goes well with white rice. The chow foon was a mistake. I wanted the dry beef chow foon but got the wet one. Probably my ordering mistake. Despite the pork chops tasting great and the more than reasonable pricing, I have to just give 3 stars primarily due to me and my kid standing at the entrance for around half an hour to get two plates of food. Ambiance wise it is not fancy or that clean looking. You walk up some steps and into the restaurant (left door). You see a few tanks of seafood and a few tables just beyond that. It's very low key and obvious that going for the fancy higher end look is not what they were after. It's ok. I think there is more seating upstairs as I went there a few years ago with a larger party. Also, if you were like me thinking you'd just order through Yelp/grub hub to be quicker and avoid talking to anyone, think again. It's quite slow after submitting your order. You also have to wait for grub hub to confirm with the restaurant. By that point I was already at the restaurant myself and can order in person. I did talk to grub hub customer service and they get a big fat 1 star. This review is not about them, though. read more

Saw a lot of good reviews from fellow Yelpers, Gaga Seafood did not disappoint a single bit. It's an very authentic Chinese (Cantonese style) restaurant, all servers spoke Cantonese including the lady boss, and all other customers around us were Cantonese speaking too, and they all seemed to be returning customers for multiple times already, a good sign of how good this place is! The restaurant is slightly on the small size with tables pretty closed together, but there seems to be additional seating area in the next room down the hallway at the back. Lobster with Ginger and Scallion: A Very tasty! The flavor of ginger and scallion were fully absorbed by the lobster meat, we ordered two medium size lobsters for three people which was perfect, the price was very reasonable too at $45. Braised Lamb with Bean Curd: A- Please ask for bean curd sauce and dipping the lamb with it further enhanced the flavor of this dish. Wish they added mushroom to it too as it's one of the key ingredients of this classic Cantonese dish. Steamed Chicken: A So tasty! Very tender and juicy chicken meat even the white meat. Choi Sum: A- The vegetables was fresh, stir fry with garlic at the right amount of time. Had to be flagged down to order, more attention for napkins, water, tea, drinks and rice. Food was average. Ordered the walnut shrimp, Peking Duck, salt and pepper pork chops, fish filet and vegetable on fried flounder and sizzling beef with black pepper. The walnut shrimp was drowning in mayo. The Peking Duck came in 2 parts. The skin on shrimp chips and the meat prepared stir fried with bean sprouts. The skin was crispy, good and tasty but the meat with the bean sprouts was a bit on the salty side. We ordered more baos and never got them. Attempts to get the attention of the servers but were ignored. The salt and pepper pork chops were on the dry side. The fish filet with veggies on fried flounder was bland all around. The fried flounder wasn't fried and seasoned enough as it should be. The sizzling beef didn't come sizzling, oily and salty. Not going to hurry back anytime soon. read more

Horrible bug experience, DO NOT eat here! I tasted some bitter in my greens and end up spitting out a thumb size bug(too gross to take a photo so here is a pic from internet). Restaurant cancelled that dish but that's it. Don't think they even rinsed the greens. Make sure you read the lowest reviews before going here, this is not the first bug incident, this place has serious hygiene issues. All grossed out and I did not anything after that, stomach suffered after this. We took the rest food to go but because did not want to waste it and we paid for it. Definitely some of the better Chinese food I've had in my lifetime. In fact, the food was so nice, we came thru twice during our stay in Boston! Overall the restaurant is tiny. I think there might have been another room with additional tables around the corner from the main area you enter in. Service is very minimal to borderline non-existent, but food was damn good. Quaint with fish Yanks when you walk in. Order off Dim Sum menu. Both times we have gone, we went for dim sum. FYI after 4pm is a extra $1 PER PLATE. Also going after 4pm means they don't always have everything available off the dim sum menu so best going between noon & 3pm. Ordered multiple dumpling dishes all of which were good (shumai, a few different shrimp dumplings, a meatball order). Each dish is between $7.50-$10 per plate. Service was decent. Been here twice and it's definitely the spot where I get my Cantonese food fix. It is surprising how few there are around and Sichuan food gets boring. Service is good for a Chinese place, waitress warned us not to get a certain dish because it wasn't fresh. - Beef chow fun: One of the best I've had. The smell and wok hei was phenomenal. The seasoning was perfect which is really hard to achieve for many places for some reason. Usually you get the wok hei but it is bland and have to make up for it with chili oil. - Eggplant with salted fish: The salted fish is an acquired taste but man was it good. If you can get past the smell, it has phenomenal Unami flavor with the soft eggplant. Even my kids enjoyed it. - Stir fry pork intestines with chili peppers: This dish surprised me since it isn't a Cantonese dish but it rivaled the ones from Hunan.
