    Sweet and sour ribs

Nice quiet lunch spot in Brookline, complimentary peanuts were sesame with some heat. They sell these separately to go. Lunch special spring roll fresh, rice fresh Shredded pork dish brought the heat and was all fresh ingredients. The sweet and sour ribs were a different rib approach but had a nice sweet sauce . I would visit again. I wish more appetizers or menu options for lunch or adding a soup. Manager or owner was more than accommodating and prompt service. Great restaurant , location, food, services. Peanuts to go looked a smart idea as saw people stopping just for peanuts to go.

The chicken pot (call in one day earlier to preorder) was amazing. Other dishes were okay. The chili cold chicken did not taste the freshest. Inside the restaurant there's modest decor and limited seating. Their specialty dumplings were sold out at dinner too Service was very warm and welcoming

Like the food here, every single dish we ordered, was delicious! The restaurant in brookline is not very spacious, if you have a large party, maybe call in advance. Service was also great.

This spot doesn't focus as much energy on decor the way some of the other restaurants in the neighborhood do, but don't let this be the reason for you to skip out on this amazing restaurant! I called ahead to make a reservation for 8 and was amused when the staff member sat us at one of those large, circular, plastic tables with folding chairs. While the vibes might not be exactly what you're looking for during a fancy date, the food is seriously incredible. Everything was very shareable, so the 8 of us picked 7 dishes along with white rice and were all stuffed by the end. Chicken in chili oil ($13.95): super tender, succulent chicken with a mild chili oil sauce. The chili oil wasn't the most flavorful so I would mostly recommend it for people who don't eat red meat. Beef and tripe in chili oil ($13.50): this was my favorite cold appetizer of the two I tried! Somehow the chili oil in this dish was significantly more flavorful than the chili oil in the chicken appetizer and the beef slices were melt-in-your-mouth tender. Sliced beef with Szechuan numb peppers ($26.95): I love dishes that are not shy about their mala spice and this dish understood the assignment! The soup itself was so fragrant and packed with veggies in addition to lots of beef slices. Yu hsiang eggplant ($14.95): the eggplant in this dish was very soft in the best way possible. This was the least spicy dish we ordered. The thick, sweet, and savory sauce clung onto the soft pieces of eggplant and went so well with rice! Spicy beef brisket in clay pot ($17.50): I didn't expect the beef to be almost shredded, but it was still quite tasty. This dish was on the savory side (whereas some of the other dishes were a little tangy or sweet). I would recommend this dish for people who are just getting introduced to Szechuan food. Szechuan hot sauce fish ($21.95): this is normally one of my favorite dishes to get at Szechuan restaurants and I love to use it as a reference to figure out if a restaurant is good or not. This dish was very delicious and packed a generous portion of fish! Dry pot chicken ($18.95): they light a flame under this dish at the table and it adds a lot of smokiness to the chicken. This is a great dish for people who like spicy food because there are a lot of whole dried chili peppers! There were a lot of veggies and I wouldn't have minded if the chicken-to-vegetable ratio was higher. While this restaurant is not bougie or fancy, the serving staff were all kind, patient, and helpful. I felt super relaxed and almost homey eating here. I'd love to come back again soon.

    Beef noodle soup

With a name like "Cubist Circle", I wasn't expecting such an authentic Taiwanese restaurant! I stopped in for a late dinner and got their beef stew noodle soup, which hit the spot. There was a generous helping on noodle, beef, and toppings. The aromatics and spices were really well done. I got medium spicy which was perfect. The food came out fast and the service was good (water was refilled several times). The price was also very reasonable ($14)! If I could give one point of feedback: Personally, I like eating beef shank more than tendon, so I wish there could be an option to add in more of one vs the other kind of meat. Will definitely be back!

Restaurant is a very non assuming exterior with a small, cute interior simply decorated. Staff were very attentive and kind. The food was very good, many classic Szechuan dishes with some creative twists. Flavor and portion size delivered a good value, better than others in the area.

Meat soup can come across as vey filling and dense. Unfortunately, we wouldn't be going back here as there are no dishes that is appealing to us.

We ordered the fried pork rib with duck egg yolk, the eggplant, and the Szechuan fish. My favorite thing was the pork rib - it's crusted with egg yolk and sugar for a mild sweet/salty flavor. The fish was tasty as well, but I wish it had more of the numbing mala flavor. Would definitely come here again and try more of their dishes! This is a small, clean spot with fast service.

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to stop into a random restaurant, and just ask the server to surprise me with their recommendations. Dinner tonight did not disappoint! Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. The owner recommended the dumplings and they were phenomenal. The flavor was delicious and they were steamed to perfection. Super tiny place with a very friendly staff. Started off my week in Boston just right!

So happy that there is a new, amazing Sichuan option in Brookline! This small restaurant is in the heart of Brookline Village. It is clean, cute, affordable, and above all, has great food. The food came out very fast, especially the noodles. All the food was pretty good, but my favorite was definitely the 水煮鱼 (Szechuan Hot Sauce Style w/ Fish). The fish is cooked very well - tender yet flaky, and it has a nice, numbing kick! The 重庆小面 (chongqing noodles) were also a hit, though the noodles themselves were slightly overcooked. Lastly the 鱼香肉丝 (Yu Hsian Shredded Pork) was alright. I also wish you didn't have to pay extra for rice. Overall, a great addition to the Brookline Village area - I cannot wait to come back!

Starting with an iPad menu, our ordering experience with our waiter was subpar. We ended up with extra things ordered that weren't part of our initial order. In good news the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fire and the waiter poured 5 glasses of water for 3 of us. So we could cool down without needing to flag him down. With the only non-Asian waiter in the restaurant, he struggled with basic elements of service. Inattentive. Requests went unmet (lemons for water). We sat for more than 15 mins after asking to box up leftovers and to close our check. This was all a little embarrassing, as we brought my boyfriend's father. After singing praises of the NYC spot, this was a disappointment.

We always get the pot for 4 (have never come with less than 4 people) and this worked for us even with a party of 5 - it's a ton of food for a decent price. We always get the traditional sauerkrout pot with fish and mix and match the appetizers - I am partial to the spicy chicken and fried dough (youtiao), but all are solid. The only one I didn't love was the noodles given you're given plenty of carbs already. The mochi is honestly super delicious as well if you have room for dessert - it's a great texture and flavor. Even though it's called a "small pot," it could have easily fed three people. For our hot pot, we chose wide starch noodles, pork meatballs, and a half fish, half beef combination. The pork meatballs were just okay. Since I can't handle Sichuan spice, we went with the tomato broth. If you're able to tolerate spicy food, I'd recommend trying the Sichuan broth since that's what they specialize in. The tomato broth was a bit underwhelming and reminded me of American-style tomato soup. We also ordered the crispy fried pork belly and takoyaki. The crispy pork belly was definitely the standout--I highly recommend it! It came with a flavorful dry spice seasoning for dipping that made it even better. Overall, the portions are generous, and you'll definitely leave with a full belly!

In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. It's done pretty well. And the best part, it just doesn't remotely hurt the wallet. Even being a regular, I'm still amused at how the service is so stereotypical Chinese in the way that I'm just another soul coming in to be fed and not remembered or acknowledged. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. Half the time, it's perfect. The other half...is wet and mushy (I want to say a reheat but isn't that just such a faux pax in Chinese cuisine?). Nonetheless, this is one of the few four and less starred places on my list that I will still continue to frequent and recommend to anyone in the area wanting a quick and decent meal for cheap!
