Sauteed Mix Vegetables with Fermented Bean Curd

Tried Su Su Gourmet and honestly this spot surprised me a bit. Used to be cindys planet which had the wings i liked. From the outside it looks pretty low key, almost like you'd walk past it without thinking twice. Inside is simple too, nothing fancy. It's also a really tight space with just a few tables, and it honestly felt like there was one cook running the whole kitchen. Dishes came out one by one with some gaps in between, but it kinda made the meal feel paced instead of rushed The clay pot beef brisket with daikon radish gets an easy 5 out of 5. Super tender, really moist, and came out piping hot. Just super comforting and one of those dishes you keep eating without realizing it. Could be a bit more generous with portions tho. The clay pot rice with beef was another standout, 4 out of 5. Takes about 20 minutes since they cook it fresh, but worth it. Rice was perfectly done, fragrant, and the crispy bits at the bottom were great. Also appreciated that when we mentioned another dish being salty, they adjusted the sauce on this one. Nice touch and good at end. Rice noodle rolls were soft and fresh, I'd say around a 3.5 out of 5. Good texture and solid overall, but not the best I've had. Their char siu with the salted egg yolk in the middle was interesting, but probably a 3 out of 5 for me. Very fatty in a good way, but the sauce was heavy and leaned too salty direction. Would be much better if they toned that saltiness down. The shredded chicken was also around a 3.5 out of 5. A bit too much white pepper which kinda overpowered things, and could've used more cilantro to balance it out. Got some greens on the side which were simple and done right, no complaints there. Fermented bean curd vegetables pretty good. The lady serving us was Taishanese and was chatting with us in Cantonese. She mentioned they were one of the earlier spots doing this style of rice noodle rolls before it started popping up more in Quincy. She also pointed out the cook was her younger brother and you can tell there's some pride there Also random note, the bathroom is in a kinda quirky spot right by a side door near the tables. Easy to miss but it's there Service was quick and no nonsense, which fits the vibe. Not really a place for ambiance, more like come hungry and leave full. Pricey. Would come back for the clay pot dishes for sure. Overall still a solid 3.5 out of 5

The place was a nice hole in the wall restaurant where the rice rolls were soft and different than the usual rice rolls I've tried. I wish there was more filling but it was overall good. The price was on the slightly higher end.

4.8/5 Great local gem. Not in the typical part of Chinatown but worth the walk over to check out. Small place with only a few tables but it has great clay pots and rice rolls/crepes which are their most popular dishes. Other favorites are the salt chicken congee and pull apart chicken dish. Many other options too but haven't tried them all yet. Highly recommend!

Tiny establishment with rice rolls worth the wait. We got three Rice Noodle Rolls (Beef, BBQ Pork, and Shrimp) and the Chinese Sausage Eel Claypot Rice. You can add egg to a rice roll for $1 more. The Rice Rolls were all thin and sitting in a tasty sauce. The Claypot Rice was also a great pick, with solid meat portions and soy sauce flavors in the rice. Importantly, there was also plenty of crunchy (not burnt) rice at the bottom of the pot! The major caveat was the wait time: it took ~40 mins for the first rice roll to arrive. To be fair, they are a small operation and there were many people (dine-in and takeout) waiting. Just keep that in mind when visiting!

Small little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant for comfort food. The place is very small and has very little seating. It's definitely not the cleanest and very much resembles "dai pai dong" style. The food isn't cheap, but it's good home cooking. I was rather disappointed by the clay pot rice because it was supposed to be "lap mai" and only had Chinese sausage. The boneless chicken feet in Thai chili was delicious (not pictured).

Basically a hidden gem for good Chinese/Taishan food in Chinatown despite the service. I came with some friends at 5pm and we were seated right away. We ordered Rice Noodle Roll with BBQ Pork (with Egg), XO Sauce Fried Rice Noodle Roll, Spare Ribs, Sauteed Spinach, and Taishan Shredded Chicken. I've never had rice noodle rolls with eggs in it so I'd say that was the best dish. The shredded chicken was really good as well, though I've definitely had it at home - which makes this place all the more authentic. Other dishes were good - thumbs up! It took a while to get all our food since we definitely ordered a decent number of dishes, but it was also because our order was mixed up with another table. We kept getting food that wasn't ours; we were given rice noodle rolls with shrimp and had them take it back. We were also given spare ribs with rice claypot instead of just spare ribs. We thought they wrote the order wrong so we just accepted it. It turned out that the dish was for another table as well! Then the worker scolded us for 3-5 minutes for eating a dish that they mistakenly gave us. In the end, it took us 56 minutes to get all our food. I would recommend trying the food out if you have time to spare! I'd love to come back for their rice noodle rolls with BBQ pork..maybe for take out. Just expect a little more than just your typical Chinatown service.

It's too good and I forgot to take pic until after I ate the whole thing .

The pot clay rice with eel and Chinese sausage is so good!! Definitely one of the best I have ever tried in the States. Cheung fun is freshly made so well so It takes time for the chef to make but the wait is definitely well worth it. Highly recommended if you are looking for authentic Asian food from this place.

a kitchen with a lot of clutter

Food is ok but service is insane. We are a party of 3. When we arrived at the restaurant , there was a part of 2 waiting and there was a vacant 2-person table. However, the restaurant manager just let the 2 person sit for the next 4-person table while let us waiting. I tried to stop the manager and ask why, but the restaurant manager didn't even answer my question. Hygiene condition is also questionable, with a pair of shoes in the basement. Apparently that is a machine used for cooking. MA Food Safety should really come and take a look. Should not visit even you don't have any alternative.

Absolutely an authentic Cantonese restaurant in town! One of the best! Strongly recommend the claypot rice, the best I have ever tried so far. I did order the one with frog, but you could definitely go with the crab one, which was their famous for. Cantonese likes soups and there are several options for you to choose based on the types of meat or flavors. The rice noodle roll was great as well but I prefer the ones from Big Fun Cafe. Last but not least, definitely try out this pork blood if you would like something spicy. It is one of their new dishes and similar to Mao Xue Wang.

This place is a bit off of the main China town blocks and the appearance is very unassuming from the outside. That probably explains the fact that this gem is seriously under appreciated. I've been to several of the Boston China town spots considered to be the best and Su Su gives any of them a serious run for its money. The dishes are more regionally specific than the standard American Chinese restaurant, so it helped to go with some Cantonese friends. Still I think anyone who likes Chinese food would absolutely appreciate the amazing noodles, dumplings, garlic fried veggies, etc. I also recommend venturing out a bit and trying the clay pot rice, rice noodle rolls, and even the porridge: I did not expect them to be as great as they are! The food can take a while and the restaurant can be awfully crowded and cramped. Still, I think it's one of the best, most unique and authentic Chinese food experiences in Boston. A must try!

Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory. It's quite affordable.

Both Cantonese and Mandarin were seamlessly spoken. Shrimp Rice Roll / Egg: It looked very appealing. However, the soy sauce was ridiculously sweet, much sweeter than in China, completely exceeding the standard "umami and sweet" of the authentic Cantonese cheung fun腸粉 (rice roll) soy sauce. The cheung fun skin was somehow overcooked, so some parts without egg at the bottom were soggy from soaking in the soy sauce, making the whole roll quite greasy. I have to admire my culinary acumen: I managed to preserve most of the skin's basic texture with the extra egg. Fortunately, the shrimp were fresh enough, six in a serving, with a crispy texture. Oh well, since I'm in America, it's tolerable. I must say, I would never have come here specifically for this, never in my life. Spending $10+ on a plate of cheung fun after traveling so far, will make me feel more like a sucker than ever before!
