This was a really good restaurant. The artichoke dip we ordered was underwhelming, but that doesn't hurt the entree score. We had the Chicken Fried Steak, the Country Fried Pork Chop head, and the Cobb Salad. The main course was some of the best we have had. They start with different cuts of meat that are better than normal beef, they use beef tenderloin and the pork was a pork loin. They breaded it with perfection ingredients. The white and brown gravy were delicious additions that accented the potato and green beans. Next time, we will skip appetizers and get dessert! The service was great as well and no issues with running out of drinks. Yesterday, was a rodeo event at the Lazy E so it was packed! Definitely need to make reservations at the time you wish to eat. It was family dinner celebrating Father's Day/birthdays. The location is cute being in a former train depot. My husband got the daily steak special and asked for medium and after quite await it came out way overdone and steaming, he sent it back and they redid meanwhile our son in-laws was a different cut of beef than he ordered but he just ate it. I ordered the chicken fettuccine with grilled chicken and the chicken was so overcooked and dried out. I left my meal. I felt bad for our server because she was really trying but she was young and not in control of the kitchen. My husband told her wasn't her fault and gave her a good tip. Nice restaurant located in the historic Guthrie rail depot. Food was good and the staff knowledgeable and polite.

The only thing that went well was the service. Everyone was so friendly and kind. That's why I did not give them one star. The food is not worth the price. We had the artichoke dip and it had a weird taste and color. The burger was huge, but lacked seasoning. Fries were okay, but soggy. My husband had a steak with potatoes and he said it was alright, but needed salt and the potato was not finished cooking. They cooked the steak to the right temp though. The crème brûlée was water and did not taste good. All you really had was burnt sugar. The restaurant is in an historic train station. They should really buy into and invest to bring it back to life and make it an experience like back in the day. Gage's Steak House was really good! We've been to Guthrie many times for events at Lazy E but this was our first time here. It came highly recommended by a friend. We got in with no wait. The server was excellent. Rolls were excellent. I had the pork chop, my husband had a steak and we had 3 teenage girls with us who got a variety of things. No complaints. I have been about 6 times to Gages in Guthrie Oklahoma. The last couple of times have been below par. Last nite I went. And I gave the waitress my order. Got a salad with cheese. Ordered it with. Asked for more rolls never got them. When the gm brought what was suppose to be my meal. Well it wasn't. I order a filet med well with mash potatoes. What she brought me was a steak, lobster and asparagus. And then had me cut into the steak even tho I told her it wasn't mine. I finally just said I would pay for my drink and forget about the rest. The gm said no I didn't have to pay for the drink. The time before that last week. I ordered my steak when I got it it was burnt. And I again paid for my drink and left. Last nite I went on the restaurants messenger and asked for the gm which at the time I didn't realize that it was the one there. And I was told I wasn't allowed back there. And then today I get a message on messenger from somebody telling me I wasn't going to be allowed to come back. Haha. So I guess if you want substandard food for very expensive prices then go to Gages in Guthrie Oklahoma. I like to give 5s. I met with a group of friends for dinner. We were able to visit for 2 1/2 hours. The chicken fried steak was delicious. The New York strip was delicious and cooked perfectly but a bit of gristle along the edge and tip. The lava cake is tasty but I think I have had the torte in the past. The waitress was welcoming and friendly. It seems like the Delmonico is not a wider cut of meat with sauce but the same cut as the New York strip. read more

I'll start with why I took off two stars. We had a reservation at 6:45, and the host/hostess let us know we had to wait for a table to empty. Which was fine with us. We asked if we could wait in the bar, they told us that was fine. The two at the hostess stand proceeded to whisper to each other like two teenagers.... It was very awkward and they continued to do that to other people who were patiently waiting. The bartenders were amazing! We really enjoyed our drinks... we tried to check a couple of times on our table and the host/hostess were not at their stand, they were all gathered around another table discussing something with the waiter/waitress both times. Finally at 7:45 pm, we decided to place our order at the bar because we didn't have all night. Almost a minute after we ordered the host/hostess came over and said our table was ready... a full hour after our reservation, we said no thanks we ordered at the bar due to the wait. The food was amazing and service at the bar! Steaks cooked perfectly! We will return, but I'm hoping someone addresses the employees at the front hostess station. On an overnight visit for a girls weekend, we needed a good place for dinner. This was about the only option from the looks of what is open in Guthrie. There just aren't that many options. We had an enjoyable dinner. I would normally give 4 stars but we had great service, good drinks, and good food for the money. The fact that this place was open and we got right in on a busy Saturday night is worth an additional star. My mom enjoyed her ribeye. It was cooked medium, just like she ordered it and it was a huge piece of meat. The carrots, asparagus, and twice baked potatoes were nice. My stuffed salmon with Boursin sauce was great. It had a crunchy edge along the bottom and was cooked perfectly. It was not over cooked, which I was thrilled about! It was juicy and flavorful. I'd have this again.
