Went North to Guthrie for Thursday Night Date Night. This is our first time here. Holy crap......we have been missing out! First off, this place is reall cool. It's where an old train depot use to be. We started out with a couple of cold beers to go with some fried onion strings. Both excellent. We then had a couple of mixed drinks and they were both great! For dinner I had sirloin surf and turf. The shrimp and veggies were fantastic. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare but lacked the flavor of my wife's Delmonico steak. Her steak was also medium rare and wow, it was amazing! So much flavor!! The noise level was excellent. The service here was also FANTASTIC! We will be back. read more

A friend of mine and I ate there last night and it was an average experience at best. He ordered his steak medium rare and I order mine medium. His was medium and mine was medium rare. Edible but not prepared 'to order'. In addition, definitely don't get the 'honey-glazed carrots'....ours were practically raw. His had no glaze and mine were in a bowl so that the very thin glaze had been poured over them and it had all drained to the bottom. Service was average. Ambiance is what you'd expect from a renovated train station and the 3 trains that came by while we were there did 'add' a uniqueness to the experience. My husband and I went here for a rehearsal dinner. I was kind of disappointed because when we picked our choice of food beforehand I was told that these steaks could only be made medium. I understand this was for a group but that was still disappointing since I am a medium rare girl. When we first got into the private room we couldn't find wait staff anywhere who would take our drink orders. So my uncle and I went to the bar to get drinks. We kind of got in trouble for doing that. Well you got our money either way so that's not really our problem. I will say that the medium steak was very good. There was a lot of fat on it but I understand that's typical for that cut. The salad was a typical house salad with the crappy parts of the lettuce and some cheese and ranch. I got the creme brulee for dessert and it was good. I wouldn't mind going back next time I am in the Guthrie area to try a steak cooked to medium rare as well as their crab stuffed mushrooms. read more

I was staying in Stillwater, but made the 40 minute drive to Guthrie. I was able to secure a reservation through Open Table. So glad that I did. Historic location and excellent steak. I had the blackened ribeye and it was prepared perfectly. Just the right temperature and the blackened spices were hot but not too hot. Next time I am in Stillwater, I will make the drive back to Guthrie for Gage's! read more

This place is AMAZING!! We were visiting from Houston and made reservations here for dinner. We frequent high end steakhouses in our area but I can honestly say this was the BEST steak we have ever had. The filet was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and the sides were just as good. Our server was Cheyenne and she was such a delight! She was so down to earth and made us feel right at home! We loved it so much we are going back tonight. Had reservations for a party of 12 on a Tuesday night at 6:30 for a couple of birthdays. Came highly recommended. They clearly were not prepared for the group when we arrived. Took 20 minutes+ to get seated. Daughter ordered the rib eye (MR) and I ordered the blackened ribeye (MR) with the blue cheese butter on the side. Hers was 1.5" thick and cooked perfectly, but looked like a NY Strip. mine was .50" and Medium well and blue cheese butter melted on top where the waitress expected me to scrape it off. I had a few bites, but couldn't really eat it since it was MW. She finally noticed and offered to take it back and brought the uneaten portion back cooked MORE! I'm smart enough not to send something back twice, so just said don't worry about it. Still charged full price. My dog will like it. No one ate their twice baked potatoes. Desserts other than lava cake were not good and kids wouldn't even finish their strawberry shortcakes (with strawberry gel). Other orders were also mixed up and delivered to the wrong person and outside of a couple of dishes, no one was impressed. First shirley temple (sprite and grenadine) = $3.50, asked if she wanted another without telling her they were going to charge another 3.50, so apparently no free refills for sprite with grenadine. Would have been nice to be told. The whole experience stank. Greeting, service, food, overcharging...just sucks it was for a special family event. Oh, and of course we were charged a gratuity, so had to pay 18%-20% for a bad experience. Will not be back. read more

Small town Oklahoma gem. It's not as fancy as say the city high end restaurants, but everything I had was very good. Crab cakes were good size portion & had a nice sauce with them. My dinner side Caesar was medium/small but was only $1.95. I had the Rib-eye medium rare. It was slightly fattier than I typically like but was very juicy & tasted very good. Sides with it I also had au-gratin potatoes, asparagus & carrots, all were good. My wife had the Chicken Fried Steak. I had a bite of it & it was one of the better CFS I've had in quite awhile. We took dessert to-go and both got the Turtle Cheesecake. It was excellent. My service was on point, attentive & prompt. Manager come by twice to check in with us which was nice. I enjoyed the experience & will certainly be back. read more

One of the best steaks my wife and I have had at a restaurant! I have been to Gages twice. The first time was 10+ years ago for a prom. That night I had the rack of pork and the twice baked potatoes. The second time I had the Ribeye with the twice baked potatoes. Those twice baked potatoes tasted just as good as I remembered. I ordered my steak medium-rare and my wife ordered her's medium. Both steaks came out just as we ordered them. Steaks were seasoned well and helped bring out the richness of the steak itself. read more
