This is a genuinely concerning and disturbing reply from Dr. Humble given that I had emailed her photos of what had happened at the time (...which she replied to at the time -- and then I recently Yelp messaged her with dated screenshots reminding her of what happened). Her Novathreads first made craters over time then worked their way out of my nose -- leaving deep, permanent holes on both sides of my nose -- then several weeks after Dr. Humble placed the threads, clear long strings worked their way out of my nose and I had to pull out multiple long clear threads out of my own face as they were sticking out, leaving permanent deep holes in my nose that lasering hasn't fixed 5 years later. Dr. Humble now feigning confusion is a big red flag; I would not recommend. read more

Dr. Humble is extremely knowledgeable about exactly what your skin needs. She gives it to you straight, no frills and sets your expectations accordingly. I did the cosmelan peel for dark sun spots I've had for years. I did a less intense (non-MD) cosmelan peel before but it was not effective. Dr. Humble office uses the MD pack specifically from Spain because they noticed it was most effective with their clients. She told me I would see maybe 50% reduction in the appearance of my sun spots because I've had them for so long, but I would say it ended up being 80%. I regretted the peel and her recommendation for me to do it during that first week - it was not pleasant, but I'm in love with my skin now!! Dr. Humble is a world-class expert in her field. She was one of the earliest doctors to specialize in the cosmetic/laser industry, and has decades of experience with various fillers and treatments. Moreover, she actually worked on and published a number of pioneering clinical trials. She's as skilled as any doctor anywhere about what she does, and a lot more knowledgeable than most. Unlike other M.D.'s, she also does all of the treatments herself (vs. pawning people off to nurses)--something I think is super important, especially for more intensive treatments. Just as as important, Dr. Humble has an *AMAZING* eye and will never steer your wrong when making a recommendation. Getting any kind of treatment is obviously scary/stressful, but I always know I am in good hands with Dr. Humble. I've been seeing her for almost 15 years, for everything from Botox to threads, and have NEVER ended up with an overdone look (I'm actually a bit concerned about where to go if she ever leaves; I'm not sure I could trust anyone else!). It should not go without mentioning that Dr. Humble is also extremely personable and relatable. She has had various treatments herself, which immediately makes her more empathetic/understanding of questions/concerns. You're SOOOO lucky she's up north now. I've been going to Dr Humble for more decade and she is AMAZING. Where to start?! Injectables: She has actually been part of the clinical trials for the most recent and groundbreaking ones, so she has more experience with them than other doctors. HER TASTE/AESTHETICS ARE AMAZING. She has never miscalculated in order to get the effect I'm after. And she listens. Plus, she has THE lightest touch with injectables I've ever experienced. (For Sculptra I'd read that it had to be injected more deeply than others so I was pretty tense about it. Even for that she was so gentle. If only my dentist's touch was as light!) Anyhow...she's on the cutting edge. Her taste is great. And if something is NOT necessary, or if - after consulting - she feels it needs to be addressed surgically to get the desired effect, she has actually passed on making the money and (like any GOOD doctor) advised me to take the best course of action surgically (for the area I was perplexed about) and just come back to enhance and build on that later. SHE ROCKS! Oh one more thing.I always have her "refresh" my cheekbones and jawline before I visit my mom because my mother feels younger when I look younger. (And luckily Dr. Humble still comes down here regularly.) Last week I arrived at my mom's days after Dr. Humble worked on me and my mom said: "Lorrie, you look the same as last year!" Well...uh yeah. But we know WHY! ________________________________ Just a teensy addition. Everyone I tried in the Bay Area gave results that weren't as good as my Dr in New York. She doesn't ever try to oversell a lot of procedures. She will deliver your desired result while also advising on keeping it natural. Her prices are fair and she respects your budget. I went to her for the basics (botox and filers) which she kept light as I requested but strategic and evenly placed. Unlike the other Bay Area Dr's I tried who need much more or left me uneven. How I found her is I do facial threads, which is not as common here as New York. She has been doing them for a very long time and has a ton of experience. She did excellent work with no swelling or pain and it was fast. The results are perfect. I'm extremely fussy about my face, I'm not one to complain if I don't like someone but I just won't write a review. So I'm writing this one because she is really REALLY good. I highly recommend going in for a consultation and see for your self. Before visiting Dr. Humble, I never thought I would find a high caliber cosmetic clinic that was good with ethnic skin. Fortunately, I found Gail and my skin will never be the same. For years (literally) doctors had been telling me that I keloid and to avoid cosmetic procedures because of this. Gail looked at these so-called keloids, and was instantly able to tell me what they really were -- hypertrophic scars. I was a little hesitant, but she recommended a steroid injection and told me I'd see results in about 2 weeks. I decided to give it a shot and while I was pleased with how quick and painless it was, I was STILL skeptical. I woke up the next morning to a flat scar. It's not that I don't trust doctors in the Bay Area, but it's just that the "look" that I like and want is more Southern Californian. Does that make any sense? I get that many doctors are qualified and talented at what they do, but I wanted a doctor that also had an eye for what looks feminine and pretty. Gail is that person. She knows that an "ideal" face is heart shaped! I know beauty is subjective, but whatever. You get my point. Gail's knowledgeable, experienced and has great bedside manner; I trust her! I went to Gail's office almost a week ago to get Botox in my masseter muscle per my dentist's recommendation (see: Paul Hoyt in the Financial District). Even though she said it would take two weeks to notice results, I can feel it working already. My jaw doesn't lock when I yawn anymore, and my masseter muscle is more soft and relaxed. When I wake up, I can tell that I didn't grind my teeth throughout the night. I usually try to touch my tongue to the top of my mouth to make sure I'm not clenching on a regular basis, but I haven't had to do it recently. An additional effect of getting Botox in my masseter is supposed to be a slimmer face so I'm also looking forward to see the results of that.
