I am incredibly disappointed by my experience at Mill Valley Dermatology. The staff was unprofessional and not welcoming. I saw Dr. Erik Cabral, and I will never go back. He made an off-the-cuff diagnosis without looking further into my issue and, frankly, was rather insulting when I asked a deeper question. I felt dismissed and not heard. They might be more interested in the Medical beauty business rather than dermatological diagnosis. My complexion is fair, and I have a family history of melanoma. I went to an amazing practice in San Rafael and was tested and diagnosed correctly. With my new protocol, I am headed toward health. This is my first unfortunate review. I wish I had read about them before I booked my apartment. I hope you find the care you need. read more

Dr Knott is great but some of her staff are so rude. Multiple times I have dealt with folks there who are dismissive and rude. Both in person and over the phone the support staff leaves something to be desired. I hope she finds better people! read more

As a new patient to Mill Valley Dermatology, I initially had a good experience. I was even prepared to write them a thank you note for their kind service. But then, after they found a melanoma and excised it, they stonewalled me and refused to sign straightforward forms that permitted me to collect 2 weeks' worth of unemployment since I was healing for [the prescribed] two weeks after the surgery. I tried every channel to reach them and to make it easier for them to fill out the requisite EDD forms but they wouldn't assist me. Needless to say, I will not go back and will not recommend them to anybody else. read more

I have a history of melanoma, as Dr. Knott was well aware of the surgery that I had for melanoma in 2020. In 2023 I had an unusual mole that appeared on my face, and she did not biopsy this, but burned it off. The mole reappeared six months later she did not biopsy it or, remove the mole but burned it off again. Then on the third visit, she finally did the biopsy and it tested positive for melanoma. I now have a 5 inch circular incision on my face because the tumor grew to be the size of a nickel. Dr Knott should change her profession to become a beautician, because she is a danger to the public as she is so careless to not biopsy suspicious moles on cancer patients. read more

Dr Knott either has inadequate training or is extremely inattentive - Although I have a history of melanoma, she did not biopsy a suspicious growth on my cheek. She simply burned it off without doing a biopsy on two separate occasions at 6 month intervals. FINALLY, on the third visit she decided to do a biopsy. It came back POSITIVE FOR MELANOMA. - An entire year had elapsed from the time the growth had first appeared. I had surgery yesterday at UCSF to remove the cancer, and I am left with a large triangular incision right next to my mouth, the longest incision was 5 inches long. Imagine having to face the world with this kind of disfigurement! If you have any concerns about skin cancer , DO NOT see Dr Knott. read more

I have been seeing Dr Knott for about 5 years. She has treated me for skin cancer and other skin lesions. I really appreciate her careful evaluation of my skin issues. I just sent her an email thanking her for recommending a lotion with lactic acid. I thought the only way to get all the blotchy scales on my legs off was to have a laser treatment, but no the lotion worked wonders over about 6 weeks. I could not be happier. It worked like magic, and I never would have known without the recommendation from Dr. Knott. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a new dermatologist. read more

GREAT dermatologist! Would 100% recommend Dr. Knott!! I had a bump on my nose and wasn't sure what it was. She identified it right away and in one appointment she removed it with no pain, plus she gave me some lotion that cleared up my acne. She is incredible! I initially met Dr. Knott at UCSF. When she opened a practice in Marin County, I switched to her, and she had consistently provided excellent medical care to my family and me. I have Scleroderma, and because she is so knowledgeable and skilled, I trusted Dr. Knott for facial upgrades. She's amazing! She injects Botox around my eyes and RHA filler around my mouth and lips, and, incredibly, I do not get black and blue after Dr. Knott works on me. As with the other reviewer, I was appointed Haydee Knott, as the partners in the practice weren't taking new patients. I went in for a yearly skin cancer check. I didn't care for her, on many levels, all of them pointing to a distinct lack of professionalism and courtesy, including: -she was 45 minutes late, which she did apologize for -scolding me like a child: "Stop picking!" -talking about me to her assistant, as though I wasn't in the room: "Look at her hives! She gets all hivey when I touch her skin. Look! Weird!" -dismissing my request to understand what is causing my skin to itch, and might we explore some environmental/holistic remedies -black stilletto pumps at 9:30a, (did she not go home to change from her date the night before?!) -her assistant gave me an expired coupon for the Rx, so instead of it costing $20, the cost of the ointment was $500! Keep looking--you'll no doubt find a more professional, caring dermatologist. read more

Went there a couple months back, spent maybe 5 min with the doctor who was not able to really answer what my eye rush could be... she wanted to right away give me antibiotics but I said no, so she prescribed steroid cream together with some other cream... needless to say-the rush is still there, worse than before... going to see a different dermatologist this Friday. She has gone above and beyond for our family multiple times, questioning negative lab results for skin cancer (she was right!), calling at home in the evening to deliver good news, and repeatedly brainstorming alternatives when we aren't satisfied with a treatment plan. Dr. Knott is amazing! My pediatrician suggested I walk in and ask for an appointment for my 9 month old's unexplained rash. I'd never done such a thing - and felt completely ridiculous. But, I decided to follow the doctor's advice because my baby was so uncomfortable. Dr. Knott greeted me at the door and fit me in with ZERO waiting! Dr. Knott has been amazing both for my partner and myself. She navigated him through a very delicate situation on the border of his eye, which required a complex series of maneuvers in coordination with plastic surgery. She did a remarkable job and had a reassuring, gentle yet professional manner. In my case, she spotted a stage Ia melanoma on my back which was as small as a speck of dark dust on my back. Even she was surprised that it turned out to be malignant. But she gets all the credit for having tested it and found it and saved me potentially many years of suffering and perhaps even my life. That's nothing to mess around with! I don't know how you get any better than that for a skin check. Simply the best. All the while, she was professional, and yet friendly and helpful, and a delight to be around. She took out the melanoma as soon as possible and today I'm back in the normal pool. I have no greater risk than anyone else is,of never having a malignant skin cancer. Perfect job. I'm so happy we have her as our dermatologist. My worst medical experience ever. She was 45 minutes late for my appointment and then rushed me through what was supposed to be a complete initial exam. She treated lesions with liquid nitrogen-- I later found out through a second opinion that a much better treatment for my particular case is topical ointment. She misdiagnosed the scaliness on my scalp ("go get some Head & Shoulders shampoo"), when it was actually more lesions coming up. read more

I recently changed Dermatologists and went to Dr. Knott due to her positive Yelp reviews (and my insurance plan). I've been going to Dermatologists for over 20 years, and I've never had such a thorough examination. (She even checked my skin between my toes and my scalp!) She caught a few suspicious moles that 2 other Dermatologists had overlooked. She took her time to get to know me, my family history and my concerns, making me completely comfortable the entire time. So, I found a new brown spot on my back and discovered my old derm who I loved (Dr. Reinke, is gone from Marin). I checked with my insurance to see who was on my list of providers and called this office. My friends see Dr. Howard but she was not taking new adult patients so I was scheduled with Dr. Knott. Well, she honestly saved my life! It was the most thorough skin exam I have ever received. I went in and she told me the spot I was worried about was harmless (she called it a wisdom spot). But, she was worried about a mole that neither I nor my husband had noticed. It turned out to be an early melanoma! I had surgery to have it removed and now I am sending my husband and all my friends to her. She is excellent! read more

I have always looked at YELP for reviews and finally decided to join after having an appointment with Dr. Knott last week. I arrived early to fill out paperwork and was happy to see the office was busy and thought this has to be a good sign. After waiting close to a half hour and watching several people that arrived after me go into there appointments, I was starting to get annoyed and was finally called. Dr. Knott came in a couple minutes later, I noticed she didn't look at my chart and immediately came over to me and asked why I was coming to see her today. I explained that I just wanted to get a couple skin tags that were on my eyelid removed. She glanced at them and said "That's it, those little things is why your coming in here today".I was very put off with her demeanor for belittling me for wanting them removed, her facial expressions etc... am I not the customer. She then asked do you know how much they are to be removed (almost insinuating that I couldn't afford it or something). I quickly said yes between $100-150 since I was put on the spot, never have I had a doctor talk pricing with me(was quoted earlier $70-100 when scheduling the appointment). She apologized that she kept missing the spot and said "oops" your going to have some bruising, sorry. She put some cream on the area and I asked her what it was and if I should just use Neosporin or something until it healed. She quickly rattled off what kind of cream it was and was condescending asking do you not have this kind of cream at home. After it was done (three minutes later) I told her that I obviously have lots of moles on my body and is there any warning signs that I should keep an eye on. Again her condescending attitude came out as she quickly sassed me and said that we were all done. If she had even glanced at my chart she would see that skin cancer is very common in my family!! I walked out of the office and went to pay the bill and wouldn't you know she charged me $150 because I dropped that fee to her even though when I called I was quoted $70-100. I walked out of the office and couldn't be more annoyed by the whole experience. I WOULD never go see her again as her bedside manner was absolutely terrible!! I heard lots of people going to see Dr. Grossfeld in the office, the other doctors have to be good to keep this practice open!! read more

I used to see Dr. Howard who is also at Dermatology Consultants of Marin; however, she now works limited hours and it was faster to get an appointment with Dr. Knott. I went in for a routine skin and mole check. Dr. Knott was extremely personable, and made me feel comfortable right away. She was positive and accommodating.
