I found a bolt with less yardage than I needed, and she volunteered to send someone to the back to hunt for another bolt. Prices seem reasonable and selection is huge. On a recent visit to the area I stumbled onto this spot via Yelp and I'm so glad I did. They have a fabulous selection of fashion fabrics but definitely seem to specialize in really ornate and glamorous yardage. If you're looking for holographic spandex knits, every manner of silk, bedazzled everything- then you've gotta check out this store! I ended up with a unique plaid that's 100% linen. Totally reasonably priced at $14/ yard but don't expect a price break for buying the bolt- still a deal! read more

Great service, great selection, excellent value. Only negative is the layout of merchandise (bolts stacked on top of each other) makes it hard to see what all is there. But if you've got the time to spend, it's well worth it. Even with the layout being somewhat inconvenient, my last visit I was out of there in less than 45 min with three items that were EXACTLY what I was looking for, and the price was fantastic. Are you a sewer who hasn't been to Gail K? Friend, you are missing out. Get going and find your bliss! If your a fabri-holic like me, get thee to this second location of Gail K posthaste! It's not quite as packed as the original location on Cheshire Bridge Road. Some will find that to be a positive, some a negative, and some like me just won't care because there's so much beautiful fabric there you'll be in Nirvana either way. I will say that I think the second location is a little more spacious so it may be a little easier to find what you're looking for. On the other hand it feels to me like the one on Cheshire Bridge original store has a bit more fabric. Either way, if you can't find the cloth of your dreams here, it can't be found anywhere short of the New York City garment district. This is in a totally different league than Joanns or other chains. The only downside to both Gail K stores is that they're not open very late for my taste. the Norcross location is open until 5 pm while the other location is open only until 4 p.m. (!) except for Thursday when they're open till 7. Why can't they both be open till 10 at night 7 days a week? But they aren't and I suppose they can't be. So just get yourself going before the traffic gets bad and find those textile treasures. If you love fashion and fabulous fabric at fair prices, you'll find it well worth your time to patronize Gail K. read more

Fine fabrics definitely has a larger selection. I do have to say Gail Fabrics has lots of trims and very elegant fabrics for big events. They seem to be more expensive than most large fabric stores. read more

Gail K has a large supply of fabrics. I love the 2 locations I visited when purchasing fabrics to create my daughter's wedding gown and the 2 flower girl dresses. The stores, especially the Atlanta one is a bit unorganized. It was also flooded, meaning areas squished under your feet, on one of my trips. I desperately needed extra fabric for the dress I'll be wearing for my civil ceremony in 2 weeks and was referred to either Gail K or Joann's by the person doing my alterations as I know NOTHING about fabric. I, of course, was familiar with the brand Joann's, as I've seen them around here and there, but had never heard of Gail K. Given the fact that this dress isn't just any old dress, but my WEDDING DRESS, I needed the fabric to be as close to perfect as possible. I did my research here on Yelp and concluded that Gail K would be my best bet. I can't express the fact enough that this was not only the best choice, but the ONLY choice. I walked in, a nervous wreck, in search of the PERFECT shade of Ivory Satin. There was an overwhelming abundance of choices . Who knew there were so many different shades of Ivory Satin in both stretch and non-stretch variations??? I was put in the hands of Lee, my literal LIFESAVER. He patiently went through all the rolls (I'm sure that's not what they're called) of Ivory Satin with me until we found a couple that seemed to be good matches, but he didn't stop there. He then suggested we walk to the front of the store to compare my dress to the fabrics in NATURAL LIGHT, a suggestion which I alone would have NEVER thought of, but made perfect sense. I left feeling SO much more at ease than I did walking in. I felt even better when the person doing my alterations exclaimed that the fabric was a PERFECT MATCH!!! Lee is THE BEST!!! If you need ANY type of fabric, head to Gail K!!! I traveled from Morrow to Norcross on the weekend that Janet Jackson and Taylor Swift were double booked and I HATE to drive through Atlanta these days, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat for the quality of fabric AND service I received. read more

Gail K Fabrics is one of the few remaining real fabric stores in the Southern US. They carry excellent quality choices in wool, silk, knits, etc.; you won't find any synthetic fleece there! If you are a home sewer, a couture aspirant or costumer/designer and live within 100 miles of Atlanta, you need to make a visit. Plus, if you show your American Sewing Guild membership card you will get a generous discount on your fabric. Bring your patterns with you, they don't carry patterns or notions.
