I'm in town for a conference and desperately needed my dip mani replaced. The salon was nice and clean and everyone that worked there were very nice. It is a five minute walk from the Grand Hyatt. I asked her why because I had a 4pm appointment! She said she was really sorry. Okay and that helps me how?! You didn't bother to call and reschedule my appointment since you wanted to leave early?! You're all a fucking joke. No one go here as they can't even stay open and commit to their own hours. A client of mine recommended them to me. I just moved to AZ and I'm really picky with who does my nails. I read the great reviews on yelp about this place, so I thought I would give them a shot. **FYI** they do not honor the check in offer on yelp for new clients! My first visit was great! I drove up from Tucson and stopped by while I was visiting my friend. The owner was very welcoming, the space was nicely decorated, the staff was friendly, and everything was clean. I had a great pedicure and dip manicure by Tammy. So of course it was a no brainer to come back next time I was in town. My initial dip mani I did with Tammy lasted 4 weeks without any chips! I showed up for my 1 o'clock appt and they told me Tammy was behind so I opted to wait. After about 10 min another girl asked if I would like to get started on the pedi or mani, so I wouldn't just be waiting. I decided to start my pedi....which I finished before Tammy was done with her other appointment (which was also just a pedicure). After another 10-15 min, she finally came to get me for my manicure. I didn't love my dip this time, there's some bumps and unevenness. I felt like my pedicure was rushed but I didn't hate it. Overall it's a nice salon. David, Amy and their team at Gainey Nails are the best. The salon is always incredibly clean and everyone is so welcoming and accommodating. I've never had a bad experience here in 2+ years. They have large shields in place and sanitizers at each station to make sure the guests feel safe during these times. The pedicure tubs are lined with plastic every time and cleaned thoroughly between each guest by their cleaning team which is always there. I request Doann, but everyone's work proves to be stellar. Their polish selections are up to date, and they can make the perfect color recommendation every time. I never know what I want, but I always walk out feeling fresh and fabulous. The salon is nice, however, I will probably never come back here. I came in for the first time for a gel manicure and a spa pedicure. It must have been the fastest manicure I've ever gotten. My cuticles weren't trimmed at all and the soak off process left my hands super dry afterwards. I've never seen that before...soaking your hands in a piping hot bowl with a towel in it and the acetone penetrating into your entire hands. The gentleman that did my manicure rushed through the entire manicure and did a sloppy job. I don't know who he was but he had lots of koi fish tattoos on his arm. He kept telling me to relax and just watch the TV? I'm like "are you having a bad day? you relax. My hands can't get any looser than they are." The pedicure was a better experience better but for the $68 they charged, it's not worth it. And it was supposed to have been an hour, but it was more like 40 mins. I left with the same rough heels I walked in with. Again, they just need to slow down so it's a more quality job. read more

I had one very pleasant experience at gainey nails, and one very odd one. the first time in, I got a full set of acrylics and a pedicure with one of the female nail techs. she was lovely and I was extremely happy with my service! but the second time, I was treated much differently. I arrived on time for another full set and pedicure, but I had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. I was seated at a pedicure chair and took my shoes and socks off. this time a male nail tech finally comes to greet me and asks to actually do my fingernails first, so I get up and put my shoes back on and go over to his station to sit. he thinks I want a fill, I tell him I want a full set, so he says we should actually do the pedicure first. so I go back to the pedicure chair and finally get seated once again and begin my service. I have been at the salon for almost an hour at this point. from there the nail tech made several uncomfortable comments and was winking at me as he was giving me a pedicure. I tried to ignore him. he continued making these comments during my acrylic set as well. he kept boasting about how great he is at his job, and saying he could even file my nails without looking. he took forever to shape my nails while he continued to brag about his expertise. well now I've been here for almost three hours and the salon is closing. I'm forced to pay early so they can start closing up the shop as I'm still in the middle of my manicure. as he notices the staff cleaning up he speeds through actually painting my nails. the shape of my nails looked pretty good, but the paint job was undeniably sloppy. after boasting about how great he is for hours, I expected more. he insisted I become one of his regulars and not see anyone else for my nails. he made me feel really pressured and uncomfortable throughout the entire experience. once he was finally done with my nails he wouldn't stop talking to me about conspiracies and politics as I awkwardly tried to leave without being rude. it's a bummer because I REALLY liked this salon the first time I came in and I know all the ladies here do amazing work. the space is beautiful and clean and charming. but this man truly ruined my experience and I will not be returning. read more

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! I'm not sure how this place has such great reviews. My friend and I came in for pedicures and full sets. I asked if they do chrome and the lady said yes but then when I showed her the color I wanted (mirrored) she said they don't. We then sat down for our pedicures and the older guy doing my friend's pedi asked if I was her mother. WHAT?!! I couldn't believe it. Needless to say I excused myself and went to the bathroom because I was so upset and didn't want to cry in front of everyone. So I didn't enjoy my pedi at all because I was so upset and humiliated. (See pic of my friend and I. I honestly don't think I look like I could be her mom) Now for the full set... I kept asking her (Julie) to make them shorter but she said "no, you don't want them that short. It doesn't look good!" So now my nails are way too long. She also cut my cuticles with her buffet drill and made me bleed. My friend was very disappointed with her nails too. She has asked for dark plum and wound up with light purple and lavender. I made an appointment at Gainey to get dip and a pedicure. Once we got there the owner told us he could not take off our "hot gel" or the only option is to rip it off and gave us NO OTHER OPTIONS (while luxe nails and spa took off my nails within 5 minutes). He continued to rip off my nails and ripped off my nail all the way to the nail bed and made me bleed (picture to show). The owner, David is extremely unprofessional. I can't even believe he had the AUDACITY to stand there and rip all my nails to the nail bed and put his customer in excruciating pain without a care in the world. I have had multiple poor experiences at this nail salon and decided to give this salon a last chance and I NEVER will or suggest anyone to go to this poorly ran and unprofessional nail salon. All the workers are great and walk around terrified of the owner, David. He just wants his money and truly does not care about his customers and workers. My first time visitor experience was closer to a 3 star experience but my friends had closer to a 5. I highly recommend setting an appointment even though the wait for walk ins seemed minimal. We had a reservation and waited about 15 minutes to be seated for a pedicure. They are very busy but greeted everyone that walked in and didn't turn away any walk ins, they were all seated within the same time frame as us. Once seated, my friends pedicure chairs were ready and tubs filled. Mine didn't have water so I sat for about 10 minutes just waiting (no big deal). My technician arrived, she was kind, we chatted a bit and the conversation tapered off. Once she started the pedicure, everything went way too fast. Keep in mind I sat there for 10 minutes while my friends were getting their pedicure and I was the first one finished. We all got the same type of pedicure as well. My tech also constantly kept getting up while my friends techs only got up for hot towels. I didn't think it was a big deal until one of my friends whispered over "she keeps leaving you." My ultimate test is how long does the pedicure last. My polish chipped within two days and now most toes have chips (not even a week has gone by). My friends had a very different experience. Their techs were attentive, gave great massages, and they all still have polish. They also have so many regulars which I don't think would be the case if all experiences were like mine. It's a cute salon, I recommend trying it. I hope you experience (and Yelp!) the 5 star service my friends had and prove my experience was a one off!
