I had GGD replace my garage door opener and spring over the past couple of years and I was quite pleased with the service and pricing. The time has come where I had to replace the other door and spring and the cost was completely outrageous. I did a little investigating and this company was recently sold to a DE company that has a mailing address on 450 Park Ave 15th Floor NY, NY. The bottom line, I couldn't get the same model that they installed two years ago, the new model will only work with their own garage door key pad that costs over $100, they swear universal key pad remotes can't be paired with it as they are operating omn their own unique frequency... The new machine is about $400 more than the one from two years ago... I swear it looks the exact same... If you have deep pockets, give them a call... read more

I work for a commercial real estate company. I called GGD early last week to have them come fix a tenant's bay door because we've used them several times in the past. The woman I spoke to gave me the name of the person to contact, so I called him directly. I left him a message and also emailed him photos as the woman had asked. They didn't really show anything but I sent them anyway. I mentioned that on my phone message. Two days go by and no response, so I called again, left him another message. So here we are a week and a half later and I've heard nothing from anyone, so I called another company (Overhead Door) and they are sending someone out early this afternoon. I've notified all of our PMs and superintendents and let them know that when they need any future work on commercial garage doors that they should contact the other company if they want a response. 0/10 Would not recommend Gaithersburg Garage Door. read more

I used this company a couple of years ago and they did a good job at a fair price. So when I had an issue I called them. They quote me a price of $1,800 to replace the motor and springs ( $1,000 motor and $800 for springs ). At Lowe's you can buy the motor for $230 and the springs $45 ( pair of two ), estimate time to replace two hours. So they wanted $1,525 ( $762.50 per hour) for labor. Wow I did not know I was hiring a lawyer to do the install. I did speak to the office and they were going to give me a 5% discount. I just did it myself took 2 1/2 hours. read more

Great, responsive service, and great communication. Our garage door mechanism failed on a Sunday, and by Monday mid-afternoon, technician Julio had been here and fixed (replaced) the broken spring that had caused the failure. Julio also did a maintenance assessment to make sure all was well with the rest of the garage door. Great communication, too. I texted on Sunday--and even though we were new customers, by 8 Monday morning, we were all set up with an appointment for that afternoon. we've had good service from this company in the past, however this time we called for a repair that should have taken a few min and $6 in supplies. We were told we needed to replace both doors for $8000. We have since had the door repaired, and the other door reinforced, for $150 total. One of my garage doors broke. I have contacted Gaithersburg Garage Door before so I gave them a call to set up an appointment. They came at the time promised and it turned out to be a broken tension spring. The tech Nelson was able to replace the spring quickly and showed me that you need to lubricate them in order for them to last. He also looked at the other door and made sure it's working ok. The replacement cost, parts and labor came out less than $300. Which in my opinion is very reasonable. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I just wrote out a long complaint but decided to keep it simple. The first time was being shocked at how much a simple repair cost and getting just a bad feeling about the company. I said I would never use them again. The second time, they told us it was $139 charge just to come out plus parts. They didn't ask us any questions past that and then came out to discover they couldn't do anything to help us. Gone in 5 minutes. The rep just said you didn't tell us you didn't have a key to the house. Wouldn't you think that would be something they should ask us? When we told them we couldn't get the garage door up ? I called four days in a row to see if I could get a refund or even a partial refund only to be told the supervisor wasn't there every day. Left callback number each time. No follow up. Not a company I would use. And each rep that helped me out on the phone was not very pleasant. read more

Gaithersburg Garage Door (aka Fairfax Garage Door) installed the Liftmaster system in our new build roughly 2 years ago. Over the weekend, the system ripped out of the wall. We had another local Liftmaster dealer come and fix it, and they said it was installed improperly (they put up planks that were supposed to be nailed/screwed into studs, and they completely missed the studs!). Brett came out and provided a professional and thorough assessment and notes regarding the damage and what we should do next. I called them Sunday night, literally around 8 pm when a part broke off the track and the answering service arranged for a response via text Monday morning just after 7 am. They we out to my home by 12:30 as promised in a 2 hour window, and they gave me a healthy discount on a new opener. Tried to open one of our garage doors to head out this morning, and found that the coil tension spring had snapped. Heavy steel garage doors, so no way to open it without the help of the spring. Using Yelp to find a couple of reputable service companies, I sent a note to Gaithersburg Garage door, and within minutes I received a call from them (and this was well before opening bell of normal office hours). They offered to make me their first service call of the day (8 am!) and their pricing seemed very reasonable. They arrived on time; the service technician was awesome and extremely knowledgeable, and had everything working in no time. I even had them replace my other garage door spring in case it was ready to blow as well. Pete was great to work with and responsive with any/all questions - he was clear about what to expect for the work and pricing was transparent (not to mention reasonable). Our installer, Adam, did a great job as well. He called ahead per request for day-of service and arrived within the service window. He answered all of my questions patiently and thoroughly, gave maintenance tips, and cleaned up thoroughly before wrapping up.
