Benson Garage Door Company is truly a five star company. I honestly can't think of anything but positive things to say about them. They are professional, reliable, and fair. First time I called them it was few years ago when our garage door spring broke. I couldn't even manually open the garage door. They came as soon as they could and saved the day. My family has been using Benson as long as I remember, ever since living in my childhood home in Derwood, MD. Decades and houses later, we have called on Benson any time we had a garage issue. This time they came out because our outside panels were problematic. Gary was able to fix one of them that we haven't gotten to work in 2+ years, and replaced the other one easily. He was SO FAST! They don't try to pressure you into buying anything; he could have easily charged me to change both panels but just fixed one and replaced the second. Amazing customer service! We used this company to replace the garage door opener 2 years ago and they did a great job. It's a family business with true sense of integrity and honesty. Here is my experience with them: My wife backed our car to garage door and the door stoped half way with a panel visibly crooked and smashed. I pushed the garage door down really hard so that at least it won't be half open for the night but still didn't close properly. The previous owner left us with the garage installation package etc which had "installed by Benson" handwritten on it. I thought I should find what that company is. I googled and found the company info and called them up. I was at work when they came the day after. My mother in law was home to take care of our baby, and she said the gentleman came and fixed the door and brought it to a functioning condition -at this point temporarily- so that at least we have a working garage door until the crooked panel is changed. The gentleman did not charge my mother in law anything, even though I expected them to charge us for the repair. But as my MIL said the gentleman said we are old customer (meaning the previous owner) and it's fine no need to charge for the quick fix (even though we were literally the new customer). That's true meaning of integrity! Of course I did not hesitate to call them up right after and ask to order the panel for us and replace it. They did an excellent job by changing the panel, the side frame around garage door (which was smashed) and the plastic edging on the side. Clean and nice job. Well, a year after, this time I myself backed the car to garage door! Of course without any hesitation I called Benson again. This time the panel had a small dent which their technician said didn't need a to be changed. He fixed the door and replaced the garage key panel outside. Both time, with a fair price, fast and extremely good care. Well, I hope we won't back our car to the garage door again but if we do, Benson will be the only company I'd trust to call. read more

Just my luck, my garage door opener conked out in the open position. I called a few garage door service companies and Benson made the most favorable impression over the phone. Friendly, asked the right questions, sounded like they cared. They found an appointment for me early the next day. But my door was still stuck open so she sent someone over to help me with that! All before my actual appointment! Can't beat that kind of service. Gary came on time today, removed the old opener, installed the new one, tightened the bolts on both garage doors. Before he left, Gary explained everything he'd done, programmed the remote to open both doors and made sure I knew how everything worked. Benson's prices are competitive. I would definitely do business with them again. Wholeheartedly agree with all of the other five star reviews. During a long cold streak we had the garage door collapse on us were looking at having an exposed garage steadily cooling off our entire house during the cold snap. We called Benson, and the two gentlemen who came out to help arrived on time, were very friendly, got the job done fast, gave me some great pointers about keeping my garage door maintained, and to top it all off the the price was right too! I have worked with Benson several times over the years and I have nothing but praise for this company. Most recently, I had a problem with the remote control door opener. Ed came out, quickly diagnosed the problem (bad circuit board) and proceeded to replace the part in a timely fashion. This cost much less than a new motor, and I was so grateful that Ed was able to fix the problem at less than half the cost. Mary in the office has also been quite helpful over the phone, and last year, the company replaced my garage doors in a timely fashion and at a reasonable cost. Benson Garage Doors replaced our 40+ year old garage door. Their work from the estimate to completion of the installation was outstanding. We recommend this company based on the following. (1) During the estimating process Paul noticed that the door's header/lintel was not level so he recommended a door size that would minimize the visibility of the unevenness. No other estimator from other companies even mentioned the problem. (2) He also recommended center-mounted springs vs the type that are on the sides and explained the reasons why. Again, other estimators didn't even mention an option for the center-mounted springs. (3) He was friendly, professional and knowledgeable, as were other estimators; we felt very comfortable with him. (4) His company was recommend by others in our neighborhood. The installation team arrived on time, gave us an estimate of how long it would take (about 3 hours) and went to work. They were courteous, completed the job on time, talked us through aspects of the new door, cleaned up/hauled away the old door and were gone in just over the 3 hours estimate. Although the door we selected ended up costing a little more than other estimates we received, we are very happy with our selected source, the Benson Garage Door Company. By the way, the new door is awesome: quiet, weather tight and insulated. read more

After walking the dogs this AM we came inside and shut the garage door behind us. At that moment the springs busted. We panicked because we couldn't get my car out of our garage. We callled Benson at 6:30AM. They open at 7:30 and called us immediately. Patty could NOT have been sweeter and more helpful. She informed me they were swamped and may not be able to fix it today, but could definitely come by to get it open and get our car out. She booked an appointment for the next business day for the repair. Well, duh, we figured out we could manually open the door ourselves, so I called back to say we would see them Monday, at which PAtty said "I think we can come today to fix it!" They came a couple hours later and our garage door is good as new! They upgraded our springs for free, oiled the track and cleaned it up!! After having another company come and try to mislead us into thinking we needed a door replacement, we found Benson Garage through a recommendation of folks in the neighborhood. Benson Garage came and fixed our door for a very reasonable price. This is a family run business....we dealt with the office a few times getting a part ordered and scheduling. The couldn't have been nicer and the repair person was on time, very professional and fixed the broken cable and other alignment damage to the rails caused by the snapped cable. The prior company was trying to sell us on a $1,100+ replacement of part of the door and trying to scare us into buying a new garage door since we'd already be spending that much. Benson fixed the door which was a simple enough fix and confirmed all the scare tactics of the other vendor were not valid. The repair was a small fraction of what the other company was trying to push on us... We can't recommend them highly enough. read more

My garage door was fixed this morning by Benson Garage Door. The service and the pricing were both excellent. The garage door spring was broken a few weeks ago. After watching a vedio online I ordered the part online and tried to fix the door by myself. Unfortunately the job was not that easy, I had to hire a handyman after an exhausting weekend. But that handynan was not able to fix the door either. Finally I found Benson according to the recommendations from several friends. I wish I could find this family-operated comany earlier then I would aviod all those headaches. It only took half hour to re-work on my garage door and all the problems were gone. We are building a new home in another state. We wanted to look at Raynor garage doors. Benson is the Raynor dealer closest to our home in Maryland. Warm and friendly from the start, our experience with Benson only improved as we arrived at their office. I let her know on the phone that we are building out of state and therefore, buying our garage doors from someone else. She was immensely helpful from the moment we arrived until we left an hour later. We were both impressed with her in depth knowledge, experience and honesty. I felt I could trust her. The wealth of information and experience poured forth. She was generous with her time, knowledge, experience and samples. I am so embarrassed to say, I don't know whether it was Mary or Patty who helped us. Not only that, she was expecting another person to show up the same day who was also shopping locally but buying out of state. I am extremely impressed at how giving she is even knowing she wasn't going to make a sale. My impression is that this is a woman you can trust. This is a company you can trust and who will stand by their sales and service. My husband actually went back in to the office and tried to give her a twenty dollar bill just to thank her for her time.
