We love this place. For those that are not familiar with it, this would be the only Korean barbecue place where you get a little robot waiters. You get real people as your actual waiters but when you order the meats and things they are delivered to your table by a short little robot. The robot will even sing happy birthday to you if you would like that. My granddaughter really thinks they're adorable. As Korean barbecue places go, this is a good one. You've got a lot of meat choices and we usually pick the slightly more expensive version because it comes with ribeye and they're not Cincy on their portions. It isn't all you can eat place and they have no problem with bringing you as much as you want to eat. Just make sure that you eat what you order. Also make sure to not contaminate your food by using a raw meat tongs when you're serving it. Just a little tip for the wise. read more

I had really high hopes for this place because ribeye was on the menu. This place was ok. F O O D Meat quality was subpar imo. We got the $32/pp AYCE. Yes, they have ribeye, but it was choice vs prime and tasted dry even when I pulled it off the grill at medium rare. We tried their brisket and it also tasted avg overcooked, undercooked, just not tasty. Finger meat was ok too. I thought the best meat was the short ribs, but they're marinated and so much of the meat taste was masked. Their popcorn chicken was good, but you don't get AYCE to eat popcorn chicken. I liked that they had corn cheese in a little aluminum container to cook on the grill. And their sides were pretty generous, esp when we asked for more. D R I N K S You pay for drinks. I'm a regular at this Korean BBQ spot and have always enjoyed coming here, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. My daughter had been dealing with stomach issues all week and wasn't able to eat the day we came in. I explained the situation to our server, Grace, and she initially told us she would speak with the manager about possibly not charging for our child since she wouldn't be eating. When she came back, her attitude had completely changed. She was very dismissive and abruptly told us, "No, we can't do that for you." And honestly, that's completely fine I understand if that's the restaurant's policy. What bothered me was the way it was handled. Don't make it seem like something can be done for a customer, only to come back rude and dismissive afterward. From that point on, Grace barely attended to our table for the rest of the meal, which made the experience uncomfortable. What upset me most was how she treated my daughter. My daughter politely asked twice for another soda and was ignored both times. I've never had issues with service here before, which is why this stood out so much. Super great lunch deal! Probably the most affordable I've seen for KBBQ with a decent selection and good quality meat. The ventilation was also great for a KBBQ place which made the environment much more enjoyable than I usually find KBBQ. The server was great and changed our grill very quickly and often. We wanted to end our San Diego trip with a feast. After some searches on Yelp, we decided to have an AYCE Korean BBQ in Oceanside before heading north. The reservation was made through Yelp, and we just needed to check in when we arrived at the venue. Inside was quite spacious with seating for 100+ guests. Besides the standard dining area with tables, there were also a complete bar and a party room with stage. Each table had its own exhaust hood and it worked quite well. But I still recommend not wearing fancy apparel for your visit since BBQ smell and smoke may cling to the clothing. The orders were placed through the tablets on the corner of each table and delivered through cute robot carts. Maximum of 6 items per round. Once started, the food kept coming... brisket, ribeye, bulgogi, shrimp, calamari, chicken, oyster, pork belly and much more. All foods were quite fresh, and the marinated ones were nicely seasoned. Each table also came with a set of replenishable Korean banchan side dishes. After 45 minutes and many empty plates later, we were beyond full and ready to call it a day. As far as KBBQs in the area, this one is the best! Service is always good and I appreciate even more the tablet for ordering at the table so I don't need to flag anyone down. My kids love the kitty robots that deliver the food items. The service has always been great and kind, especially to my kiddos. The food is wonderful and even though we no longer live close, we still try to come as often as we can. I definitely recommend trying the wagyu at least once if you've never been. It's also AYCE so it's worth it. Our favorites are the brisket and wagyu. Try the cheese corn if you like creamed corn, it's super similar and just stick it on the grill and forget it for 10ish mins. If you like rice, try the rice papers. They're one of my favorite things, little square flat sheets of pliable smashed rice. Think the consistency of a slice of American cheese. Wait is way longer than the estimated time. It said 30 min, but took over 2 hours for us to be seated. Probs popular for the area, but compared to other kbbq spots flavor wise, it's subpar. Without the sauce, it's mediocre at best. They needa do something about their floors or have staff clean/wipe down frequently or put carpet down the walk ways before someone gets hurt; it's super slippery and unsafe. Staff literally all have rubber shoes, but not all customers will. Also, despite saying it was our first time there, they didn't really explain that a robot will be coming with the food and not everything on there is for your table. We witnessed empty robots go to tables and were confused where their food went. Also there isn't a button or way to call the server other than having a bus boy get a server multiple times. Good stuff! First time there, so found the menu options and how it's presented so confusing, compared to how simple it really is. The Signature is just Regular + wagyu beef / scallops / lamb, and there's one tier higher that added more stuff. They could just make it Level 1, 2, 3 and show what each adds -- that's how most places do it. That tablet had like nine menu options. Anyway, the mid-level wagyu beef pieces were the best, and I probably could have just reorded that and been happy, but we toured the whole menu. Brisket excellent, pork belly excellent. The service was really good -- frequent grill changes (yes!). The robot delivery is cool once you figure out how to ID your order. But, it can't bring Beer and it can't bring deluxe items for some reason. They could work that robot a little harder. The sides were a little scant, compared to other places. Just kimchi, cucumbers, and wood ear mushrooms; the rest you have to order. soft drinks cost extra. Here's the weird -- if you don't finish your orders, you have to pay extra, "by ounce" it was emphasized by our server. So folks in our group were like "do they weigh the rice? What if the glass noodles weigh a lot? How big is a side serving, don't want to risk it.." It was hanging over our heads the whole time when I dunno.. they probably don't weigh the uneaten rice, but maybe? It wasn't clear, but they didn't charge us for my half-eaten glass noodle side. Me and my friend came here for a meal after starving at the safari park and it definitely hit the spot. The meats were pretty good quality for ayce. My favorite was the brisket. Some of the lettuce wraps they brought out tasted like soap tho and had little dark brown spots but I just ripped those parts out. It was really busy here so service was kinda slow and they did forget some meats but it wasn't really a big deal to me. What a fun time with the family cooking up some Korean BBQ. Dined in a little after opening on a weekend and was seated fairly quickly at a large table. The restaurant has a beautiful aesthetic and was clean. Even as a BBQ restaurant, there was no heavy lingering smell. You get to order from the kiosk at your table. There are more than enough options available to accommodate everyone from gluten free, vegetarian and all you hungry meat eaters! Once your order is complete, it's brought out to your table by the ever so lovely cat robots. The grill was piping hot and ready to go. You can tell the owners really care about the quality and freshness of the food. Everything tasted delicious that we just kept ordering more things to try. We have been on a Korean BBQ kick lately. We wanted to go out to eat in Oceanside and decided to get some Korean BBQ not too far from our Airbnb. It's located in like a big business plaza, so parking was not an issue. As we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess who was extremely nice and sat us at our table. I actually made the mistake of using the restroom before being seated so I missed the instructions on how to order and how to retrieve our food from the robot that brings the food to your table. Make sure you have an understanding of how, what and when you can order and what the waitress actually does and doesn't do. My mom is 75 years old and doesn't know anything about ordering with what she considers, "new technology" and I have a 5 year old and 7 year old who don't understand anything outside of Minecraft & Mario Kart. It was a mistake on my part but we go t through it. So, you can order up to 6 things at once and I guess I was supposed to order the 5 rice bowls with the waitress but because I ordered them through the digital kiosk, it only allowed me to order one meat. You can't order anything else until your recent order is received and then you can place another order. Once we understood that we were good! Another issue was we didn't understand what food was ours and what food was for the other people with the robot that brings out the food. At first I thought the robot just brings your food but apparently, it brings out food for different tables on different tray levels and sides. There are directions on top of the robot explaining where your food is located on the robot. Lastly, I don't know if it was because they were close to closing but finding our waitress was extremely difficult. I don't know if they rely on the digital kiosks and robot so much that if you need them to turn your heat up on the grill, it takes 5 mins. We finally found her and she turned it up for us. As for the food, it was all fresh, and seasoned well. There were no complaints and everyone was pretty satisfied with what was ordered with the bulgogi being the clear winner. The place was huge and very clean and when we did interact with our waitress, she was very nice. Overall, I would return and try one of the premium meat packages. GAJA solved a lot of problems i usually have at KBBQ. 1. Usually, with kbbq AYCE waiter, theres too psychological warfare. They either hover and cut your meat prematurely, making awkward quiet moments, or they start having slight stink face when youve ordered a lot. But at GAJA, the ipad ordering system and robot does a lot of the lifting and removes some awkward moments i usually experience. The waiters/waitresses were also attentive too and created a nice experience. 2. Sometimes AYCE gives me stomach problems because of low quality meat. I did not get that here at all and felt great after. Other noteworthy things: They offer lettuce to make wraps, which is an OG way to eat KBBQ that has disappeared from many restaurants in the last 20 years. Their spicy cucumbers were delicious. But I have to be real: the host/front seating experience was awful and it set the tone in the worst way. The problem: the waitlist / texting system was a mess The night started with us getting put on the waitlist through their texting system... except the texting system didn't work. We stood around for about 45 minutes, checking our phones, waiting for updates, and nothing was coming through like it was supposed to. Then the worst part: we find out we got put back on the list. After waiting. Like we never existed. That's when it went from "busy night, no big deal" to "wait... what are we doing here?" I'm not trying to be that person -- I get restaurants get slammed. But if you're going to run a waitlist system, there has to be a backup plan when it glitches. Or at minimum, someone at the front needs to be checking in with people so you don't get lost in limbo. Why it bothered me It wasn't even the wait time by itself. I can handle waiting. It was the feeling of no communication, and then basically being told "oops" and starting over. That's just not okay, especially when you're hungry, you've committed to the wait, and you're trying to be patient. What would fix this instantly * If the texting system is down, just tell people immediately and run a manual list. * Have the host stand verify names/phones and give a realistic time estimate. * And if someone waited 45 minutes and your system messed up, you honor their place. You don't put them at the back like they just walked up. Bottom line Food = amazing Korean food. Front service / seating process = genuinely bad. I would come back because the food is worth it, but I'm also not trying to repeat that "stand around for almost an hour and get reset" experience. You order on the iPad and the food comes out on robots. The service can be slow at times. However overall the service and price is a pretty good deal. There's some issues with meat quality. When our beef belly came out. The color and smell seemed liked it was close to nearly being bad. The pork jowl that came out had a strong pork odor when cooked. I used to Love It here Then started noticing how dirty it was, everything is sticky including the floor, and plates I really like the service, but the thing I don't love is that you have to get what the whole table wants unless you want to eat a whole order of one type of meat by yourself. For example if I want the bolgogi, but my table doesn't like that I have to eat the whole big order. I prefer to portion the meats myself. I've always noticed sometimes the seafood don't so fresh here, the squid is awfully chewy and inedible no matter how well I cook it. Found this place on yelp as we were hungry after a day at legoland. I was able to put myself on the wait list via yelp on a Saturday night and it sent me updates via text and I could also check my line status on yelp app or link and also share the wait time with my party. The time frame was pretty accurate. We were party of 7. We were seated at a long table shared by others and had one grill for us 7, but it was doable. They have iPads at the table to order. They had the typical ban chans already placed kimchi, cucumber, mash potato, fish cake, etc. I always asked for sesame oil on my salt and pepper and then ask for a side of salt and pepper to season the food. Sides we ordered: White rice, Rice paper, Salad, Corn cheese, japchae, Karaage chicken (my son loved) comes with a Spicy red sauce Items we wanted but they didn't have: steam egg, fried rice, green onion salad, bibimbap, mandu Meats: Ribeye, brisket, beef tongue, short rib think slice, pork belly, oysters (2 at a time- they suggest u cook it first, we waited for the juice to boil to know when it was ready to eat. I asked for lemons and used their hot sauce). Oh for price, I didn't even see a price menu, I'm use to menu a or b for regular or premium. They royalty had it listed up front but I missed it. Instead they have a ruler and it says full price or half price. I think if you're 48" or below you're half cos my son just barely made it. Might even be 50". And we were there for dinner. This had to be the worst Korean BBq experience I've ever had. I'm in town visiting my sisters, we are celebrating their birthdays. One sister has never been to Korean BBQ before so this was the nearest one to our hotel. We're staying in Carlsbad. The pictures and everything looked promising so we decided to come here. It was seven adults and two children. The children are 2 and 4. They charge children by height but I explained to the guy at the front that my son has dietary restrictions due to his Autism and he would not be eating. The guy didn't care he said it's policy. I'm gonna charge you anyways I was like what you can't make an exception to the policy, he has autism, is 4 years old and was ONE inch above the cut off. He's not gonna eat so they charged me $15.99 for a kid's dinner. He just sat at the table... your business needs the money that much that 7 adult dinner is not enough that you have to charge a disabled child cause of "policy". I get it, there are scammers out there that you know say that they're not gonna eat, but then they're eating on the side but it's a kid he's only four years old. He doesn't even care about Korean BBQ. If it was an adult I'd understand but to not make an exception that started the dinner off on the wrong foot. So it just made me wanna be nip picky about everything. We waited more than 15 minutes for our table which we yelped waitlisted for 5pm and arrived earlier than 5pm. At this point we were all very hungry so we're like OK whatever, they are gonna charge us so then we sat down. This is where it continued to go down hill. Their dinner beef selection. They have your usual galbi, brisket, beef belly etc.. Their brisket was the worst brisket I've ever had that cuts were so thick and so lean. After my first round, I never wanted to order it again. The grills were weak it took a very long time to heat up. We had two tables for us and one server, I guess cause the tip was already included and she had other tables she didn't really have to come around to us because service was really slow. You order everything through a tablet so she isn't that busy taking orders... I had to call her down multiple times because she never really came by us on her own to ask if we needed anything. One moment that stood out to me was when I needed sesame oil and I asked one of the delivery people for it she said she would go check and nothing happened for a while so I asked her again when she came by to drop off stuff and she said I told your server. The server came back like if you need anything you need to ask me. I said sure but I didn't see you for a while. Other than all of that luckily for my sisters, they had low expectations because they've never been to a Korean BBQ so this was all a new experience for them, but I live in OC. I go to Korean BBQ a lot. This was definitely the worst and so I'll never be coming back and I would never recommend anyone to come here either. read more

This was my third time coming here and all 3 times I've been dissatisfied. It's just not good to me. Last night we Came her for my sons birthday because it's his favorite place. The table we were sat at wasn't even cleaned right there was pieces of food left on it. We had to have two plates and utensils brought over since we were a party of 4 and despite them just being brought to our table they were also dirty. The plates had left over pieces of rice and stuck on the napkin too. When I told the waiter we needed new ones she kind of gave me an attitude. My son's cup smelled like fish. Then the grill had gunk stuck in the openings like they don't clean them correctly and on top of all of this my husband and I have been having stomach pains and in the bathroom all night and most of today! This restaurant is gorgeous! It's big and has different sections and tables. It gets busy at this location so I recommend to add yourself to the waitlist on Yelp, like I did :) Once you're sat, you can order your meats and sides from the tablet that's at each table. You can only order drinks and some premium meats through your server, that don't really come around as much. But when they did, they were very friendly and helpful in explaining the ordering process. They have little robots that bring your food that are just adorable. They even have turn signals and play you the "Happy Birthday" song to the birthday parties! Sadly, I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the meats or some of the sides for that premium pricing. It was still a cool experience overall. read more

Food and services were outstanding. The portions were big and as soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the server and didn't have to wait for our table. Even though the place was packed service was fast. It was so much fun to go there. read more
