My husband and I eat here pretty regularly, usually once or twice a month. We know exactly what we like to order, and it's a place we genuinely look forward to visiting. We understand it gets busy, so waiting for a table and walking around until we get a text has never been an issue. The problem is the inconsistency. Almost every visit, something seems to go wrong. I've found hair or random pieces of food in my meal, or my food has arrived completely cold. We try to be understanding because we know the restaurant is often packed, but it's still disappointing. Even when something is remade, it usually takes another 20 minutes or more. The service is just as inconsistent. Sometimes the staff is friendly and helpful, but other times they seem visibly irritated when there's an issue with the food. On our most recent visit, our server barely checked on us at all. After our food was dropped off, no one came back to see how everything was, refill drinks, or check in before we paid and left. On top of that, we walked out with her saying anything to us or smiling at us, which felt weird. We really do love this place, which is why it's so frustrating to leave disappointed so often. The restaurant is loud and crowded, and it's clear the staff is under a lot of pressure. That said, being busy shouldn't mean guests receive cold food or find hair in their meals. We hope the restaurant can improve its consistency, because we'd love to keep coming back. read more

This is what I imagine visitors from out of the country think of as an authentic American restaurant. This place screams America, from the huge portions to the national pride decor. They get really busy, and seem to have a coordinated system, like theme parks, to seat customers efficiently. Someone greets you immediately and gets your party size and has you stand by a number. Someone else grabs fresh bread and a bag of peanuts as they seat you. Then your server is right around the corner to get drinks and apps started and answer any menu questions. We decided to try to eat lightly and shared a combo 12oz ribeye with ribs. Came with two sides -- we chose chili and mashed potatoes. And of course we had the warm bread with honey cinnamon butter, as well as the peanuts to start. I was definitely stuffed by the end! Loved the bread and the steak - would order again. Let me first tell you how great Nate our server was. We sat at one of the larger booth tables which was full of plates. Nate was super observant and took care of our table of 6 people super well. He frequently refilled our drinks, picked up empty dishes, offered to make a mixed sauce for me so it's spicier, and one person from our table didn't like their drink so he brought an alternative. Ana the Manager helped us split the bill when we couldn't figure out the computer thing. Lol There isn't a way to pick the items I want to pay for which seems intuitive but the device would only let us split the bill total into parts. That's a corporate issue though and she did her best to accommodate us. The food is so good. Don't even get me started on the free super hot bread with that yummy butter and those fried pickle appetizers. I don't know what I was thinking getting the full rack of ribs after stuffing my face with free bread and peanuts and that appetizer. She anticipated everything before we asked i.e condiments already on the table, three rounds of fresh bread without asking, extra plates for appetizers, and an extra hot plate since I was sharing my entrée with my mom. Effortless, warm, and genuinely attentive in a way that's rare. The food matched the service. Everything came out hot and beautifully plated, ribeyes with perfect grill marks, loaded baked sweet potato, ribs were finger licking good, crispy appetizers. Kudos to Texas Roadhouse in Oceanside for being so well prepared on Father's Day! We had a big group of 10 and called ahead to be placed on the waitlist. We arrived and had no issues with getting our table quickly. The service was excellent with plenty of servers available. I've always loved this location of Texas Roadhouse. It might be due to growing up with this location, but either way it's great as long as you beat the crowd. Really easy to get seated for early dinners. Staff members are always helpful and kind too! Luckily, I've always had fantastic service with most servers being genuinely happy too. My go to is some variation of grilled or crusted chicken and a blooming onion for an app. The blooming onion is always fried to perfection and their dipping sauce is just the cherry on top. Brought my family here for the first time since moving to Oceanside. The food is okay honestly, a lot of it lacks flavor. The Mac and cheese especially is extremely bland. Mashed potatoes are okay, also kind of bland. The steak is also just okay, I feel like the flavor isn't really there either. The star of the show is the rolls and butter, & the shrimp skewers. Those are good! The service is exceptional though! All the staff is so so sweet and kind! The restaurant is lively, lots of seating & spacious. Cleanliness is okay. Tbh, it just reminds me of going to like Outback Steakhouse, nothing too special. Finding close parking depends on what time and day you go. My daughter and I shared the Kids ribs and mashed potatoes, which was a hefty portion for kids, as well as a chicken cesar salad, which was loaded with chicken and cheese. Once seated, we were greeted by our server Jennifer, who is just wonderful. But more about that later. We ordered a hand cut sirloin for our picky teen, with steak fries and seasoned rice. For us, we shared a prime rib which was tender and flavorful, and went well with the creamy horseradish. The only drawback was the large amount of fat (~35-40%). For the sides I ordered steak fries crispy which was really good, and my wife loved her baked potato. The decor was good ambience was very nice. The prime rib was a little too fatty for my tastes, good horseradish would have helped. My wife liked the meaty pieces I cut for her, but she's more of a prime rib fan than I am. We come here a lot, so this one was a surprise. My wife ordered her steak medium rare and it came out well done. The server was apologetic and sent it back, no drama. But the replacement took close to 20 minutes, and at one point I could hear the server asking a manager to go check on it. When the manager brought it out, she seemed annoyed to even be at the table. My wife cuts into it and it's super rare. We were basically done at that point and she just wanted to go. The server picked up on our frustration and kind of faded away after that, which didn't help. I worked in food service for a long time so I get it, bad nights happen. We still left 20% because that's just how it goes. But two wrong steaks, a manager who made us feel like an inconvenience, and a server who checked out at the end is a lot for one dinner. Especially here, where we've never had a problem before. The host was particularly polite asking if there were any celebrations. Our server, Hanna came right by and we said we needed to order Asap for the EBD! Drink order taken check. Dinner order taken in time. Onto the great stuff. Drinks were cheap and offered an extra shot for $2. My wife enjoyed margs, me beers and a house LI Ice tea(interesting bit not typical) My wife ordered the sirloin with mushrooms and salad. She loved it all. I got the chicken fried sirloin with soup and salad. Sides were great but the CFS was not typical. It was a thick sirloin with breading. I enjoyed it but wasn't what I was expecting. It's loud here. They play country music. It's the best spot for a steak without having to get all gussied up. Using the app to join the waitlist during peak times is best. If dining right when they open, 3pm on weekdays, seating happens fairly quickly without waitlist. A basket of bread with honey cinnamon butter plus bag of peanuts with bucket for discards accompanies you at your table. Dallas Filet, medium rare, is the item I order most of the time but, recently, I discovered a new favorite, the Herb Crusted Chicken. It's a nice change up when I'm not wanting steak. There's so much flavor going on. I alternate between those two entrees. Mashed Potatoes, loaded, and a salad are the usual sides though I've had all of them at some point. Side salad comes with egg but it can be removed upon request. Servers may ask if you want it or not. My husband usually orders a medium rare Ft Worth Ribeye but today he went with Pulled Pork Dinner. We were both pretty full early into our main meal. Both of us finished my lunch (Early Dinner) while saving most of his for dinner. We'd split pulled pork later along with an extra side ordered. Service is consistent. They routinely check in throughout your visit. It gets pretty busy during the evenings and definitely on the weekend. Parking can be tough especially since part of the lot is closed because of a demolished nearby building. Even when those spots are available, majority of spaces are skinny. read more
