There was an empty building in the Triangle which used to be a Galaxy Cafe and I was disappointed that I had never got to try it. I recently found out that there was more than 1 location so I was super quick to try it out. We came here on a Friday afternoon and there wasn't but 1 other party here. The restaurant gave us masks and the cashier was very cool. I was thinking this was a place where you are served at the table, but it's actually one where you order at the front. The cashier gave me a free substitute from chicken to salmon which was great because it saved about $3. The food came out in about 10 minutes after ordering and it was fantastic. I had the Buddha Bowl and I was filled up pretty well. It was very fresh and it had a great variety in the bowl. Is definitely the kind of place I'd recommend trying out for a brunch. read more

The interior is also designed to follow the whole spaceship look and is colored with red and white. I ordered a Galaxy fish wrap with a salad as a side. My friends ordered wraps with french fries and sweet potatoes fries, and they vouched for the sweet potatoes fries! My fish wrap was everything I expected it to be. I added a little bit of the habanero sauce and it gave a kick to the wrap. My first time in, I was a little skeptical, the parking lot was pretty tight. Walking in to my surprise the place was actually nice, neat, clean and everything organized. Nice comfy seating and plenty of them ... I ordered a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. I received my food nice and hot, freshly made. I loved it I ate all! Galaxy cafe is so close by to where I live but yet I always forget about it. Stopped by for lunch on a company outing and realized its 5 min from my place. Galaxy is spacious, hip and a pretty nice diner. It feels retro style with an Austin twist. The menu is vast, with lots of options for people with dietary restrictions as well as generally decent food for people looking for a simple lunch. Perfect place for a date methinks. I got the chimichurri steak wrap with sweet potato fries and they were pretty good. I wish the steak had some char on it, but the wrap is certainly flavorful enough on its own, though its a bit on the smaller side for a wrap, especially considering how big the portions are for some of the other menu items. But it'll fill you up still. The sweet potato fries are amongst the best in Austin I think - they fry them pretty well. All in all great for a light lunch. read more

This is a fun little place that serves decent food. I would say it's meant to look like a classic diner from the 60/70s with the all white decor. They have real sugar soda which is nice and efficient staff. I had the Italian burger and gotta say it was really good. My side were sweet potato fries and they were under cooked and not very good. My son had the kids meal with chicken fingers that were pretty dry and mashed sweet potatoes which were good. Wife had a salad that was pretty good too. Wow first time here and I absolutely loved it. We ordered the chicken Arrabiata and Prosciutto Chicken. Both were amazing healthy and good portion sizes. The cost of the meal is another nice thing about the Cafe. For the two meals and a glass of wine the total was just at 30.00!!! Only thing to be aware of is that the menu selection is pretty small. Didn't know what to expect but it wasn't to order at the counter, in any case I was blown away with my kale salad and shocked how fast our food came out, the iced coffee with almond milk was good as well. Salads are usually not a good idea as leftovers, I didn't eat much of it at the time so took the salad home and it held up hitting the spot. My friend has been going here for years and certainly approves enough to bring me here. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more items. read more

Stopped here for dinner while road tripping through Austin. I knew ATX would have options for both my annoying gluten sensitive diet and my boyfriend's meat, potatoes, and carb preferences. Prices were great ($30/two people/ good portions) and staff kindly asked me if my dietary needs were a choice or medics which is something I wish happened more often! I had the gf linguine w/ shrimp & marinara sauce and a cup of Mexican lime soup which was so tasty and served hot and required no extra salt or anything! Both were awesome! I even asked what brand noodles they used bc it was so yummy. My picky-eater boyfriend really enjoyed his chimichurri steak and fries and a side of mac'n'cheese. He was really pleasantly surprised at the mac. He's not easily impressed so kudos to the kitchen. My only disappointment is that they were out of some of their yummy sounding baked goods so no dessert for me. This is our go-to place when my boyfriend and I can't decide where to eat for lunch or dinner. Galaxy Cafe offers a casual dining experience, complimented with a not-so-casual and futuristic (industrial?) atmosphere (dim lighting, little candles at every table), but you can definitely come here in your casual clothes. You order at the counter, and they have three menus: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can order off the lunch menu even if it's dinner time. I love it when they have their daily specials. If they do have one, it will be sitting at the front counter for all the examine. (Yes, a plate of real food will be sitting at the counter for the entire day.) I usually get a sandwich with a side of fruit, like their Galaxy Chicken Salad which comes with grapes in the chicken salad! One thing to note is that their fruit is ALWAYS so ripe and delicious! I also heard their macaroni is pretty good. Definitely recommend Galaxy Cafe for simple, good food. read more
