Don't come here if you are craving soup. Ordered western style Wonton soup that had no flavor whatsoever. The soup tasted like warm water. I don't think they even put any kind of bullion cubes in it for broth flavor. I basically poured half the bottle of soy sauce in it so I could somewhat enjoy my meal. Sweet waitresses, but service was not so good. Did not have full silverware, did not refill drinks unless you asked. My glass was right in front of her (almost empty) while she refilled someone else's drink and she did not even look to check for anyone else needing a refill. Everytime I come home to Prince Rupert I make 1 pitstop at Galaxy Gardens. If I'm being brutally honest, the food is mediocre. I always order the combo plate of fried rice, chicken chow mein, and sweet & sour spare ribs but substitute the fried rice for beef & broccoli. The meal usually comes out to approximately $13. So why do I keep coming back even though the food is mediocre? I'd say because of the history of the place. It's been around for so long and reminds me of my childhood. What's wrong with the food? Nothing really, it just isn't as impressive as you'd think. The chicken chow mein is literally plain noodles with chopped up chicken on top. The spare ribs and beef and broccoli were the real winners of the meal. Service is always good though. I've never had a problem. There is always plenty of parking as well. We came as a group of 7 and everyone got their order right and in an appropriate amount of time. I'm not sure what happened in the past 5 years but the quality of the food isn't what I remembered. My fiance got a bowl of wonton soup which literally tasted like boiled wontons. The broth had 0 flavoring and she ended up throwing everything possible into the broth to bring out some sort of flavour. First time there, I ordered off the Cantonese menu and had the squid and broccoli. The sauce and broccoli were great, but the squid was overcooked and rubbery. They charged for tea but not rice. It was a bit pricy. The second time I decided to try to Almond Chicken combo off the Western menu. It had peanuts instead of almonds. And I had the chow mein, which was plain noodles with some cold chicken on top. I was visiting to interview some people and SO MANY of them said they would go there for a dinner out. My colleague said it's the best quality Chinese food place in town. Meh. read more

Galaxy Garden is a pretty typical Northern BC Chinese restaurant. The food quality was subpar but service was good. Nothing worth returning unless maybe you find that one greasy dish you really like. read more

This place used to be good, it isn't anymore. It has steadily gone downhill over the last couple years, from pretty good to sub par at best. You can do much better just up the street. read more

My partner grew up in Rupert and loves Galaxy Gardens. Its pretty good, some great dishes and I feel pretty good prices.
