I spent over $11,000 on a pool from this company just two weeks ago, despite living an hour and a half away. I trusted their recommendations and purchased the pool vacuum they sold me. I followed the instructions exactly, and a part became permanently jammed into another during normal use. When I contacted them, I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. Instead of taking care of a customer who had just spent over $11,000, they wanted me to pay $30 in shipping for a replacement part worth around $10. That isn't good customer service--it's nickel-and-diming customers after the sale. The issue isn't the amount of money. It's the principle. Businesses that value long-term customer relationships understand that taking care of a loyal customer is worth far more than squeezing a few extra dollars out of them. As a result, they've lost all of my future business. I won't be buying chemicals, accessories, replacement parts, or recommending this store to anyone. I'll be buying locally or from Amazon instead, where customer service is often far better. If you're considering spending thousands of dollars here, ask yourself how you'll be treated once they've already got your money. We purchased a semi above ground pool in 23. We spent as much money on concrete making the pool look like an inground pool. It turned out really nice. The issue is the quality of everything we purchased. DO NOT BUY CARVIN. Parts are nearly impossible to replace and if you can find them they are very expensive. Galaxy has offered service but literally everything is under a 1 year warranty. The stair case is cracking, not under warranty since it's a little over 2 years old, the pool light is junk and after spending 300 bucks last summer to get the remote replaced, the light went out. The robot vacuum worked decent for one summer and is now in the trash. Three years in and I will have basically replaced everything besides the pump and liner. So Service is okay, quality is terrible. Be careful on what you purchase here. read more

Sales people go on and on saying, 'It will be done in 3 days!! In 2 weeks you'll have a pool!" Then they promise you'll get all the pool with installation, plumbing and digging done in one price. They make you pay everything up front. Then the promises unravel. You get calls saying that there are delays in starting, then the pool installer shows up and says we can do this and that and starts the process. Next thing you know you are getting a call saying it's going to cost extra and that was not in the price you paid. The installer doesn't communicate with you much AND is never even there NOR does the pool installer even know whether a conduit for the already installed light is placed so concrete can't be poured. They have to re-dig. Also, they say backfill is done by the pool installer but the pool installer wants extra money in his pockets for everything so the price you pay to Galaxy is NOT the complete cost. The sales people also said you can do tile or stone coping, they give you stone subcontractors to call to do the stone coping around the pool. Then they deliver a pool that CANNOT have stone installed as coping around the pool. When you tell them you've already done a contract with the stone guys to do stone, the galaxy team says 'well we don't do pools that allow for stone coping'. They are a bunch of LIARS. STAY AWAY. Yes stealth pools are a cheap alternative to fiberglass and gunnite so I guess I am getting what I paid for. If you can go elsewhere - STAY AWAY from Galaxy Home Recreation. They LIE. The Pool installers are useless, just collecting money in their pockets and are not even on site and have no clue about what's going on. The installer does not communicate with you and has Galaxy sales teams asking for more money than in the contract. What a crock of lies they said it will only be 3 days and it takes total 2 weeks and you can do stone and tile and we have the best stone guys to do the job. read more

During the purchase process the associates were more than helpful for our purchase of a basketball goal and installation. We were told they would install in phases a week apart. They did phase one and I never heard back about when they would schedule phase 2. I inquired and they scheduled within a couple days which was great as this purchase was for my sons birthday. But after the installation they left a very deep hole all around the post that is at least 2 feet deep.When I inquired if the job was complete with pictures of the hole around the post. The only response was yes it was complete. read more

This company or particular store at 6932 W. Memorial is in dire need of some leadership and reliable staff. My pool project that started on 29Apr22 and was to be completed in 3-4 weeks. Nine weeks later, we still are not complete. I guess I'm just that one out of so many that had a bad experience with Galaxy. Everything from my Project Manager, miscommunication and LACK of, delay after delay, equipment always broke, to many sub-contractors, workers only on the job site for two days a week, laying down on the job site for an hour after just arriving, nearly flooding my house due to not knowing what to do properly, NO SHOWS left and right. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy a lawn chair from this company. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere to have a pool built. Save yourself the headache. Do NOT purchase a hot tub or pool from this company. Not heeding this advice will undoubtedly cause you excessive emotional distress and potential to lose thousands of dollars more, than what you purchased. Our experience from the very beginning has been unacceptable, especially considering the money spent on the purchase of our hot tub and in ground pool. The brand new hot tub we purchased was not installed correctly and was leaking. Right away, the ozonater had to be replaced. Not months later after the tub continued to leak, the main pump cracked. We waited for over a month on a replacement part with no communication from the company on when it would be scheduled for repair. It has since been repaired, but the issues with the hot tub pale in comparison to the inground pool disaster. Communication has been AWFUL. Our pool contract showed our installation would begin in mid-May. After contacting the company to confirm that excavation would begin soon, we found out weeks after the installation was supposed to begin that our installation date had been delayed until July. On the day of excavation, even though we had our septic clearly marked, the excavation crew ran over our flags and came dangerously close to running over our septic system with their heavy equipment. They also piled a "temporary" 12 foot high pile of dirt on top of our aerobic septic sprinklers. At that time, we were told that the estimated completion is typically two months. Then after the footing was poured and backfilled, our pool was not worked on at all for over two months. None of this was ever communicated, and we constantly contacted various contacts with Galaxy in an attempt to determine when crews would be back to work on our pool. When we finally got ahold of someone, we were told the next steps were for the concrete to be poured. We repeatedly asked that our aerobic sprinkler be uncovered, but the concrete company was actually who finally uncovered it for us. We were told we needed a retaining wall, and worked out a quote with the concrete company for the wall and additional concrete for the patio. We confirmed the pricing of the wall and additional concrete, and promptly paid the concrete company after completion. Then Galaxy calls to tell us we owed $5K more for the concrete. After requesting a breakout of this cost for the concrete measurements, we got an invoice with an estimated square footage of concrete and was told to pay either Galaxy or the concrete company. Since there was obvious miscommunication about the cost of the additional concrete, Galaxy agreed to reduce some of the costs. Fast forward a couple months later, and our liner finally comes in. Guess what, it doesn't fit! Not to mention the crew damaged our brand new concrete during the installation of the liner. Galaxy ordered a new liner and after contacting the company repeatedly with no response to check the status of the new liner, it turns out they had the liner for 2 weeks. This week, now 6 months since excavation, the new liner was installed. NOW, THE BRAND NEW LINER has a hole in it, and they told us they will be back to patch it. How is this even acceptable?? The pool has been winterized today, without yet having the opportunity to check the equipment to ensure it is working properly. Given all of the issues we have had already, it's almost a guarantee we will have issues with the equipment when we finally open the pool in the spring. To say we are extremely dissatisfied is an understatement. With all of the issues we have had, including those not mentioned in this review, we should be issued a refund for a substantial part of what we paid.
