Walking into Galaxy Skateway, the first thing you smell is the 90s. I don't know if it's the carpets I walked upon in '93 or the rental skate spray, but there's a certain aroma that transports me back to a time when the only thing to do in Melbourne as a kid was to skate in endless circles. The walls are hues of yellows and blues that come from a JC Penny catalog circa 1990. The skate floor is a faded blue, and the sound of clanking roller skates fills the area only to be drowned out by the blasting music of contemporary pop hits. The sounds clash between yesterday and today. There are a few phone screens that glow underneath hand-drawn cartoon characters. But that's the charm. Galaxy Skateway doesn't pretend to be something new. It embraces what it is, a time capsule of what life was like. Going to the snack bar, you're greeted with a menu board with plastic blue letters, and you get a discount when you pay with cash. When my daughters walked into the skate rink, one thing that stood out was how many people were just... skating. People weren't on the sidelines looking at screens. All that was there was a DJ and simple skating games like Four Corners and Stoplight. Cliché songs from the 90s like "The Macarena" played as people rolleed past, all under the flashing neon lights. To me, it was a piece of nostalgia for a time long since gone. It doesn't have updated features and the building looks straight out of the 90s, but that's the point. You don't go to Galaxy Skateway to experience the 21st century. You go there to experience what life was like before Steve Jobs walked out on stage with his iPhone. read more

I came here last night with a group of friends and had a great time. The rink is pretty big. I'm not a fan of the short Friday hours of 7-10pm but it's alright. Getting in is super easy, just give them cash and you can walk right in. Unfortunately my night was caught super short because someone had a medical emergency and the ambulance and cops were called. I believe the kids were constantly fighting too, which really took away from the experience. read more

Our local skating rink is so fun! The music is spot on with heart pumping beats to move your feet. The staff works hard to ensure skaters are safe while having fun. They have smiles on their faces (because SKATING!!! how can you not be happy???) and are great resources if needed. Looking for a great way to escape and feel good? We went to Galaxy Skateway for a birthday party on 3/27/22. The entire staff was friendly, especially Frank (Redemption Counter). The only complaints I have are the quad speed skates which were mismatched pairs, extremely damaged, & had duct tape holding together the back, also the skating rink isn't smooth to skate on. Overall the customer service itself is worth coming back! read more

I skated for years in my 30s and always found it a release to all my tensions. So over the years I took my daughter and now my grand daughter to Galaxy Skateway. I wanted my grand daughter to get better quicker, because as your skills increase you enjoy skating even more. We started the Saturday classes and she has improved greatly and so has her confidence. I have to say I think the classes are the best bargain going now for childhood entertainment . Only $10 including the skates. Skating is a great physical sport, it is fun, and it gets kids off their phones. The classes are not crowded, there should be around the block to get in. read more

Decent price for kids and adults skate free (pay for rental - $2). Music could use some work. At one point, I had to ask them to turn off "I'm in love with a stripper." And the guys who monitor the rink need to do a better job of actually controlling traffic - not goofing off with kids. Multiple kids who were learning to skate were going the wrong way, nearly getting run over. Not a bad experience - but certainly not exceptional. Overall, average. read more

Well I wish they would have sunk some money into this place like they did the parking lot. I dont think the owners realize what a nice little treasure they have here. Tonight I went skating with my son, Sunday night from 7-9pm is $5.00. The floor is really in need of some help in there, I mean the paint is flaking off. If I were the owner that is ONE thing that needs to be corrected and asap. The play station games or little kids area is nothing, forgetaboutit. The snack stand is well you might as well call it a water stand, cause the only other thing I saw for sale is some stale nacho shells. Water bottle is $1.50 and probably because that is the only thing making them some money. I did not rent skates so I do not know how much that is because me personally I will NOT wear someone elses shoes, even thrifting they better be new because I just do not want what someone elses feet may be carring. Anyhoo, I had a good time and I really do hope they sink some money into this place. Kids basically run it and the music reflects it, although they did play "Bad Girls" by Donna Summer tonight, and yes, I danced, I may be old but that Disco flooded me with great memories, caught myself smiling out there on the rink. This place brings back memories! Went here with my husband for family night on Saturday. It was cheap to get in, so it made for a great and affordable date night. Unfortunately, this place is in dire need of an update. Everything is very dated and run down. The floor is lumpy, the bathrooms are dirty, and the sinks don't work. The lockers don't work. The skates are run down and don't work properly... just everything could use a refresh. Three stars because it's a cheap place to have some fun, I just wish I could have given it 5 stars. read more

Gross pizza warmed up in the microwave, rude staff, cheap skates and old and very dated. Will never go there again.

We got flyers on our family cars who rented and clearly marked not to spam cause in Florida it can stain the windows,we called to tell them to watch out and was screamed at to the point of a demand that they would continue to call until the b*** apologized I will not bring my kids back here again knowing you support such profanity and people in your building.its sad that one of the best in town has to allow just negligence around them there flyer was for the 80vs90s we just can't have this in are town and will not allow this I will be letting all my friends and family know to avoid such behavior.point Blank. read more

This place is ancient and it shows. Much better skate rinks in town. The worst is as a parent brought kids her while I could work at a table. ZERO WIFI and one bar of ATT cell service as it is all concrete. I had to go sit in my car and missed out watching my kids. Come on Galaxy welcome to the 21st century. read more

This place shows years of deferred maintenance. Nearly half of the vending machines are out of order. There are holes (craters) in their parking lot. It just looks very dated inside. If you love roller skating this may not be an issue for you. Funtown, the only other skating place in the Space Coast that I can think of it much nicer in terms of decor, aesthetics and the range of entertainment other than skating that is available. We discovered this place through my daughters school, they do school nights once a month. I think I was even more excited than my kid, I used to love the local skate rink when I was a kid in San Diego. Sadly that own closed down many years ago. This place had the nostalgic feeling I'd expect. It'd not brand new and updated, but that's part of the charm to me. It feels like childhood. The rink is large and the skates are old but functional. They have a small dining area with food and drinks, lockers and a play zone. The play zone is very small (like a small McDonald's play structure and a couple quarter machines ) yet the charge extra for it, so we haven't bothered with that part. The DJ is fun, and the music is loud and current. His mic for announcements is old and nearly impossible for me or my daughter to understand. But on the school nights they do play fun games as wel, which my kid has won several times and they give out free return tickets. We have made it our monthly mother daughter date, and we both have a blast. To me, I don't mind the oldness. I think its more fun because of it. read more

Cheap, nasty, ripoff. This could have been a good experience but they nickel and dime you and refuse you water. Here's the deal it's really hot in there. Like 80 degrees. And they have a nasty hot water fountain hidden away in a dark corner. I bought cold bottled water from the concessions and when it was drunk they refused to fill the water bottle with cold tap fountain drink water. They told me I had to pay for a cup to buy water. It was ridiculous. I talked to the owner and he continued to say that he could fill my water bottle at the sink but not the cold water from the fountain drink. The all you can eat pizza is Dominoes cheese pizza rewarmed in a microwave from behind the counter and cut in these bizarrely tiny slices. It's a total joke. read more

I'll start with when I walked in, it smelled like urine. Through out the entire store. Ok so I walk in and the lady at the counter rang us in. My friend walked away without her card and the lady didn't realize was still standing there. She looks at her co-worker and said "don't you just love when people leave with out their card" in a very sarcastic and rude manor. I then spoke up and said I'll take it thanks. So we go in and then we skated for a bit. It was all you can eat pizza night from 7-830. We walked up to the cafe at 715 and she looked at us and shook her head and said "it ain't here yet. Unless it's one the counter it ain't here" then I asked to purchase a drink and she said "$10 card minimum next time bring some cash." We got that figured out and she gave me a cup of Pepsi without even asking what I wanted. Then I went back for a refill and she was like Pepsi? I said sure. She said sure?! Yes or no. I said yeah thanks. There were gnats everywhere and every single table was dirty and broken. We left shortly after. I will forever be bringing my business to Fun town. read more
