I signed up for MDVIP with Dr. Galbraith because I was looking for the kind of attentive and personalized care that concierge medicine is supposed to provide. Initially, I was very happy with the experience, but unfortunately that changed dramatically. Before becoming his patient, I had previously been prescribed opioids by another physician and developed a physical dependency. I had successfully tapered off of them with the help of another doctor. I was completely transparent with Dr. Galbraith about this history. After evaluating me for ongoing pain, Dr. Galbraith prescribed opioids again. I specifically told him that because of my previous dependency, I did not want to be on them long term. However, I was comfortable using them temporarily while we figured out the cause of my pain, particularly because I had been instructed by a treating physician not to take NSAIDs following stomach surgery. Dr. Galbraith referred me for an X-ray and to a chiropractor. I made the appointments, but both were about an hour and a half away from me. As a busy mother of three, things would pop up and I had to reschedule them a couple of times , needing a refill of my prescription in the meantime. Then I unexpectedly experienced a severe depressive episode and needed to enter a residential mental health treatment program. On my way there, I contacted Dr. Galbraith's office because I didn't know whether I would be allowed to leave the residential program for my upcoming appointments, which I ultimately had to cancel. I explained the entire situation. Chantelle called me back and told me that I was abusing the medication and that there were other options besides controlled medication, including NSAIDs. I explained again that NSAIDs cause significant stomach problems for me and that I had been advised by another treating physician not to take them. She told me that I should be fine to take them, which seemed extremely inappropriate, as she is not a doctor. I felt completely dismissed. What was even more upsetting was being told by Chantelle that she was "on my side" because, according to her, Dr. Galbraith wanted to release me from his practice. I was never able to speak directly with Dr. Galbraith to confirm this or discuss what was happening. I want to be very clear: my complaint is not that a physician should be required to continue prescribing opioids indefinitely. My concern is how this situation was handled. Dr. Galbraith knew about my previous physical dependency before prescribing opioids to me again. I had specifically told him I did not want to become dependent on them long term. I had gotten one refill from him when he apparently decided that he would no longer be prescribing them to me. I would have expected a conversation and a medically appropriate plan for discontinuing them; not an abrupt cutoff communicated through a staff member while I was entering residential treatment for severe depression. The result was that I was left with severe pain and no medication after my body had again become physically dependent on it, rather than being given a tapering plan or an opportunity to speak directly with the physician who prescribed it. Instead, they sent in an NSAID, knowing full well that I cannot take those. The entire interaction felt accusatory, dismissive, and profoundly lacking in compassion at an extremely vulnerable time in my life. That was particularly disappointing considering I was paying a substantial additional fee for MDVIP specifically because I wanted more accessible, personalized, and coordinated care. I understand that controlled medications require caution and that physicians have every right to reconsider whether they are appropriate. What I don't understand is prescribing them to a patient after being fully informed of a previous dependency, and then handling concerns in this manner rather than communicating directly with the patient and developing a safe transition plan. Unfortunately, this experience changed my opinion of the practice, so much so, that I felt it necessary to write this to warn others. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Galbraith for five years and always liked him as a doctor. Unfortunately, I've continually struggled with his staff and the overall management of his office. His daughter still works there, which makes it very uncomfortable to express any concerns or frustrations. I often felt that no matter what issues arose, I couldn't speak freely without risking tension or being treated differently. I was originally referred to this practice by a neighbor who spoke highly of Dr. Galbraith at the time. However, that same neighbor left his practice years ago for the very same kinds of issues I eventually encountered -- primarily poor communication and disorganization within the office. Dr. Galbraith was fully aware of my complicated medical history -- including surviving a coma and dealing with PTSD -- and I had trusted him with some of the most difficult parts of my recovery. A few years ago, he hired a new assistant who, while polite, has significant communication issues. She is extremely shy and often misunderstands information, which repeatedly led to confusion and delays in my care. Despite this, I remained patient and said nothing. Then, about two weeks ago, I received a letter from his office stating that if I wanted "better and faster service," I would need to pay $250 per month -- in addition to my insurance and co-pays. That was the last straw. I decided to find a new doctor and began transferring my care immediately. Before leaving, I needed one final prescription refill. Unfortunately, the same communication breakdown occurred, and I went several days without medication, which left me in severe pain. I called the office upset -- understandably so -- especially given that Dr. Galbraith himself had diagnosed me with PTSD and was aware of my emotional struggles since my coma. Instead of showing understanding or professionalism, I received a letter THE NEXT DAY stating that I was being dismissed as a patient. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. After five years as a loyal patient and one emotional phone call born out of pain and frustration, Dr. Galbraith chose to cut ties rather than show compassion or accountability. Ironically, I was dismissed for symptoms related to the very condition he was treating me for. While I have since moved on to a new physician, I feel it's important to share this experience. BE AWARE that this practice now charges $250 a month for what they call "better service," and that genuine understanding and patient care may not be part of that package. read more

This physician should not have a license. I went to him for five years after becoming extremely sick and unable to function on a daily basis. Immediately I noticed the girl upfront and how unfriendly, rude and unhelpful she is. It wasn't until a few visits later that I understood why she was still there. She is apparently Daddy's little girl. Fortunately I found out before telling him he needed to re-evaluate his employees. I quickly noticed things were even worse when I was forced to apply for disability and trying her to complete paperwork was impossible. At least point I was seeing 3 to 4 Dr's a month and she was the ONLY one that always had a problem and she ALWAYS had an excuse. It was t until a couple months ago when I received a letter stating that if I wanted to continue to get good service from (hilarious) I would need to pay him $250 a month. At this point I knew I was not only done but was also going to tell them exactly what I think. I needed one last prescription AND like always it took several phone calls to get them to do anything and I finally let her have it. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't nice however it had been five years of hell that I was kind of stuck with (my disability was approved 6 months ago so I already planned on switching). After this, I received a letter FED EX stating they would no longer provide me service (lol). It's the only thing they had ever done anything within 24 hours in my 5 years of being a patient. If you're considering this Dr, I would reconsider and if you do decide to go, don't complain about Daddy's little girl. What makes things worse, he was as recently as 30 days prior, treating me for severe PTSD because of being in a coma 3 years ago therefore he decided to eliminate me as a patient for the exact reason he was treating me. What kind of Dr does that, oh ya, one that has his daughter work for him therefore do you really think his patients come first? read more

From the moment I walk into the office I'm greeted by Chantelle who always makes me feel welcome and treats me like family. I moved to the area 2 years back and went to this doctor in 2022 and it was relatively okay to connect with the doctor but I have been calling them since 10 days and the receptionist would never pick up the call at any time nor return your call. Dr. Galbraith and his office staff, Chantel & Stephanie, are hands down the GREATEST. Chantel is a pro when it comes to managing the office. She is helpful, responds in a timely manner and is always so pleasant. If you need a blood draw, don't fret, Stephanie is hands down the best blood draw I have ever experienced in my life and she's always gracious when I ask her to refrain from sharing my weight with me when she weighs me and doesn't make me feel ridiculous when I stand backwards on the scale to ensure I don't catch a glimpse. Dr. Galbraith is without a doubt the BEST doctor I have ever seen. He always takes the time to address all of my concerns and never makes me feel like I am bothering him with my many questions. He has been super supportive of me and under his care, after years of trying unsuccessfully, my thyroid and glucose levels are under control. read more

If there is one place that I wish I could give 10 stars to, it's this one. First of all, the entire office staff is amazing- very friendly and helpful. It's also the most punctual office I've ever been to. I've never waited more than 10 minutes and sometimes there's literally no wait at all. It's also easy to get an appointment- I've never had to wait more than a couple days. What's really amazing about that is that Dr. Galbraith does not rush his appointments, at all. Even if you end up needing to talk about something that has nothing to do with the appointment you initially made, he will stay and talk to you. He asks questions, really listens, and you're able to have a 2-way conversation about treatment options and come to a joint decision. Like I said, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes (it's usually much less) but even if I did, I would know that it just means there's another patient who needed a little more time and is getting the care they need and deserve, and I'm okay with that. It's not like most offices where schedules are clearly overloaded, you end up waiting forever, and then you're rushed in-and-out like you're on a conveyer belt. A lot of doctors can treat things, from asthma to high blood pressure to allergies or injuries or whatever. What I find to be different about Dr. Galbraith (on top of his tons of experience) is his ability and willingness to listen and converse, and the fact he actually cares and is laid-back and easy to talk to. I am treated like a human being, not just a chart with an appointment time. At one appointment that was meant to be just about a physical thing, he noticed something was off with me. Instead of assuming I was just having a bad day, he asked me a couple questions which led to a conversation (and then multiple conversations and a treatment plan) that is literally changing my life. For the first time in my entire life, I have a doctor who is not only helping me manage things like my asthma, but is helping me make positive changes in my life for both my overall physical and mental health, and it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't brought something up that I didn't have the courage to bring up myself. Of course, doctors are not psychics so being honest and up front is always the best policy. My point is that 1) this is level of care you can expect and 2) if you've ever had doubts about whether or not to talk to a doctor about something (if you feel nervous or self-conscious or embarrassed about it) Dr. Galbraith is an excellent person to address those issues with. He is completely non-judgmental, compassionate and honest, while maintaining utmost professionalism. read more

I had been going to Dr. Galbreath for about 18 years and never had one problem but did have to rise above his extremely obnoxious and rude receptionist Chantel because it was worth it for me to have him ask my doctor. I sent my daughter and my husband to him and he put my daughter on a low-dose of an anti-depressant which was fine at first but when it wasn't working for her, the receptionist refused to allow me to make an appointment to talk to him about it or relay messages properly. I did get one voicemail from him, telling me to see a psychiatrist which was fine and told me she needed to stay on the medication until we saw a psychiatrist but once again, had trouble filling it because of his horrible receptionist. I wrote a letter to him explaining we needed to see a new doctor, because we have had emergency situations in in the last six months between myself and my daughter he's been impossible to get an appointment with because his receptionist either won't make one or even give a call back. I wrote him a letter and instead of any kind of acknowledgment after 18 years, he wrote us a certified letter that he will no longer be our doctor and that's fine as well, but the big problem is our new doctor asked if we had history of a few things which my daughter does and the two things that she has the medication he had her on could've caused a seizure. I'm shocked to know what little research he did on this medication knowing her family history and how little he cared once there was a problem with it and instead he decided a certified letter would be better so he wasn't liable. if something were to happen to her , so much for caring about the well-being of his patients. If he wasn't confident on putting her on medication he should've sent us to a psychiatrist in the first place !! Shame on him and his receptionist. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

Mark and his office are great! My family and I have been going to him for the last 20 years. Mark is extremely knowledgeable and capable as an MD but more importantly just a great human being. He's so personable and I always enjoy going in just to chat. Their office manager, Chantelle, is also great. She runs the office like a well oiled machine. I have been going to Dr. Galbraith for years. He is a very caring and "by the book" reputable Dr. In California we have rules and laws that must be followed, therefore he cannot write prescriptions for the hell of it nor can he take any homeless person without insurance. If he were to conduct business like that he would be working for free and be homeless himself. Keep in mind we all have bad days. Step back be patient maybe someone died. I needed a good doctor that listened and understood, and he did. Every time I saw him he has been very kind, and has a very calm and helpful demeanor about him. I am so thoroughly impressed with this office. First, in regards to the previous review about Chantel, I found her to be quite pleasant and helpful. She went out of her way to ask me if I wanted copies of certain information, she clearly explained when I would receive information, and was helpful in answering questions. Dr. Galbraith is a breath of fresh air in an industry plagued by disinterest, accelerated appointments, pill pushing, and more talking than listening. This guy is a diamond. It is so obvious he cares and genuinely wants to help. He listens and provides lucid, articulate, relevant information based on the information you provide. It's clear he loves his field, and it's obvious he doesn't simply rely on time in the industry as proof of his skill. His experience is visceral, he seems to crave new information and is clearly able to analyze detail to find answers. Let me be clear: Doctors who are provided honest, thorough information that can analyze and diagnose accurately in real time are needles in medical haystacks. That is Dr Galbraith. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, as if I haven't already, I will conclude by encouraging you to view my other reviews which largely do not fall into that category. Billing or personality disputes are an incredibly poor reason to avoid a professional of this caliber. Honestly, why am I even posting this? It will only create long waits for me. The care that I have received with Dr. Galbraith (and the rest of his staff) is nothing short of exceptional. I moved to the area 6 years ago and was looking for a PCP and a friend of mine recommended him. I visited for a well check and that was it - I have never looked back. Dr. Galbraith is so kind and never makes me feel rushed. He has quickly and efficiently diagnosed everything from a fractured toe, to the flu, to shingles (because doesn't everyone get shingles at 32?!!?) all while making sure we are keeping track of my general health as well. Since he also has a lot of sports-medicine expertise I brought my 10 year old daughter to see him when she was in constant pain and he immediately discovered that she had strained her psoas muscle (I had never heard of it either but it's a thing!) and recommended that she start PT which helped tremendously. He has returned my call on a weekend when I had a question about a medication that I was on - which is above and beyond what I would ever expect. To me, Dr. Galbraith is the epitome of what a family doctor should be -- smart, helpful, kind, and genuinely concerned -- the types of doctors that seem to be harder and harder to come by. I can't wrap this up without mentioning that his staff has also been wonderful to me - Chantal always patiently listens to my questions and concerns when she answers the phone (and truly, when you think about it she must receive the most inane phone calls on a daily basis -- yet she is always kind and efficient) and has fit me in when I needed to see Dr. G more urgently. I literally called her in a panic once all the way from Spain and yet she helped me to sort out what I needed to do to get the health care that I needed (see shingles at 32, above). His nurse (I'm so sorry that I'm currently blanking on her name because she is awesome) was excellent with me for a blood draw and treated me with kindness and compassion even though I was borderline panicked due to a crushing fear of needles (yes, I know how ridiculous I sound but seriously - pass the Xanex). My husband and I once went through a period of transition and discovered that Dr. G didn't take our insurance. We legit changed our plan so that we could make sure that we were able to see him. Until it took effect we knew that we would pay out of pocket to see him if necessary -- he is that valuable to my family as a doctor. I trust him - and I don't say that easily. TL;DR: I can't recommend Dr. Galbraith highly enough and I'm not easy to impress. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. read more

Whether it's insurance concerns, or whatever, not being able to obtain a prescription for my psych meds and being turned away by urgent care in my new location made me realize that the Dr I believed in for years is no longer in practice. read more

Never spoke to the doctor, but horrible experience with his assistant Shontelle. Do you think I care that he's not getting 40% of his paycheck? His average paycheck is easily in the triple digits, 40% of 100k is still 60k. It's more than surviving wage. It's more than my boyfriend and I make but he's not able to get the care he's paying for thanks to Obamacare? A /good/ person would still accept people even in the middle of a dispute between the insurance company because he knows that there are people out there who need care. It's a shame. He was highly recommended but now I'll be spreading the word about this practice. Five stars? Not until he accepts the insurance he's supposed to and gives care to those who need it. read more

I totally disagree with lone person who poorly reviewed Dr. Galbraith without even seeing or being under his care. He is a phenomenal Doctor. I have been seeing him since my mid teens and am now in my thirties and I trust him with my family. I'll never forget when Dr. Galbraith saw me late after hours when I broke my leg in high school to offer me care and help assess the severity of my injuries, I don't know any other doctors who would do that. I know when I use Yelp I usually go straight to the negative reviews as a means for gauging if a business or a service provider is even worth trying out. I also know that in some instances, negative posts can come from unfortunate circumstances having no actual pertinence as it applies to the services being rendered. That said, I would go nowhere else, he is the best Family practice doctor in South OC. read more

My family has been coming to Dr. Galbraith for years (17+) and we would be so sad if we ever had to change doctors. We stay with our particular insurance just so he can be our doctor. He is thorough, knowledgeable, and caring. He also has referred me to awesome specialty doctors when needed. Unfortunately, I must say, Dr. Galbraith office and his staff cannot be trusted. I made an appointment for annual check up, which was covered by my insurance. They conducted unnecessary tests and lab works without informing me. Those tests were not covered by my insurance and then the office referred me to the paper work that I signed that I am responsible for all the costs. I told them that they should have let me know about the extra tests and cost of them. I suspect that they do this to others. I suggest you seek other providers and if you have to visit their office, be extra careful about the services and tests. Ask about all the costs so not to get screwed with excessive charges. read more

Amazing doctor, I spent 2 years with specialists for an Intestinal problem with no solution and did every test known to mankind was done to me. The last specialist, who really tried to help thought I had a parasite infection since only 19 of them can actually be diagnosed so he put me on antibiotics and my intestinal problems ceased for awhile. Then I got violently ill, I thought was the worst stomach flu I ever had. I was sick longer than 48 hours and very tired, called Dr. Galbraith's office, they quickly got me in, told Dr. Galbraith how ill I had been and how tired I still was. He said I think I know what it is and but that he needed to run blood tests to be sure and had they took my blood. The next morning his office called me asking to come into the office. It turned out I had H-Pylori, there 3 markers for it and I had 2. I was put on 2 different antibiotics for about a month and felt great for the first time in months after finishing the medication. Dr. Galbraith, not only listens, but he is one of the best diagnosticians I have ever been too. I have been his patient for many, many years and I can't say enough nice things about his staff or him, all of them deserve 10+ stars. read more

Dr. Galbraith has been our family physician for 15 years. We love Dr. Galbraith and would give him and Chantelle a 5 rating, because they are the best, however, honestly I don't know why a compassionate, caring physician as Dr. Galbraith employs a surly, unhelpful woman as Ashley. I don't know how pleasant Chantelle puts up with Ashley's negative behavior. I called today to make an appointment. I was told doctor is on vacation, ok, thank you, can I please make an appointment for next week then. She said call back next week and we'll see if we can fit you in somewhere. No offer, like the first available date we have is for example March 31. I've experienced this poor level of service from her over the years, but never complained, but today my cup runneth over. Evry time you call and you get her it's like you are on a timer, she barely can bark out a good morning, let alone show a little caring in her voice. read more
