Wanted to give my business to a local company so I decided to go with Nationwide Carpet. I had used…read morethem in the past and they were great, but not this time. The person who they sent to install the carpet, John, arrived at my door and as soon as he stepped in my house I could smell that he reeked of marijuana. If I wasn't on a time crunch, I would have sent him packing and asked for a new installer. It was so strong that when he left to go get some supplies, my bedroom smelled like marijuana. My wife came in the room to check the progress and immediately said it smells like weed in here. After the install, I called Nationwide to let them know that it was not ok to have someone doing installs that reeked of Marijuana and it was super unprofessional. I first talked with Cameron who said he has known John for years and I probably just smelled cigarettes. I told Cameron that I had been around Marijuana in the past and I know what it smells like. He was obviously gaslighting me to cover for his buddy. I then asked to speak with the owner, since Cameron was blowing me off. I next spoke with Chris and explained the situation to him and he also tried to gaslight me and said you probably just smelled cigarettes because John is a smoker. I again explained to Chris I knew what marijuana smells like and John reeked of it. I explained to Chris it was very unprofessional to have his installer come to a job reeking of weed. Chris just apologized and said he would talk to John. Chris never said let me give you some money off the cost of the install since that was unacceptable, nope just acted like I didn't know what I smelled and made excuses. I won't be using them again!

Excellent experience with Nationwide. We were nervous as new flooring is expensive. Nationwide…read moreworked with us to determine the right flooring for our needs. Also, installation is everything. Axel and his crew came in and did an incredible job. They were kind, courteous and picked up after themselves. We were hoping the job would take under 4 days to complete, they did it in less than 2. Not much else to say, except that they were exactly what we wanted. A month or so later, no issues and no scratches, even with wear and tear and a dog. Great experience from a local company.

We had a most unsatisfactory experience with Mid-State Flooring recently. We came in for carpet for…read morethree bedrooms. In addition to the carpet we had two stipulations, on which we were explicit. One was the install date (we gave over a week lead) and the other was we required "pet-proof" carpet pads. We keep large dogs as pets and often have grandchildren as houseguests. Both are generally messy and occasionally have accidents that can require strenuous measures to clean up. We specified the date because our son and d-i-l offered to come in from out of town to help move furniture out of the bedrooms and back in after installation. The morning of our install date we sat around waiting several hours for MidState to show up, then I called. Don was unaware of the delay and eventually found that their install person had, instead of coming to do the job, had left that morning for Alabama (his words). I explained how inconvenient and unacceptable this was and asked him to expedite a plan B. Nothing happened, even after I went back to the store to explain our needs in person. It took Don three days to find someone to make the install. I checked on the men doing the install and saw they were using very basic, inferior carpet pads and called Don to find out why our stipulation regarding the pads had been ignored. He claimed no knowledge of our order for the pet-proof pads. I reminded him of our requirements as voiced at the time of order, to no effective end. He claimed to review his notes on the order and saw no such specification. Odd, because it was a major feature of our order and seemed to have been included in the pricing of the job (which was competitive, btw). Frankly we felt cheated. From previous experience (with Joey's in Gallatin) I realized the pads are a potential target for bait and switch tactics, where the better pad is priced in the job but then inferior pads are installed and the carpet laid over before the consumer can check it. I can not recommend Mid-State Flooring for any work that you won't require specifications in writing and then keep both eyes on the entire process. Even then I do not recommend anyone who would take advantage of an incautious customer. Look elsewhere for your flooring needs and you may have a better experience.

He called again and had to reschedule the appointment for later that afternoon. No problem. I got a third phone call saying that no one would be able to come out that day and wanted to reschedule again for another day. I returned the call and left a message. Got no response at all. The customer service and lack of communication easily convinced us to go with another company. There are enough people in Nashville doing flooring that I have planet to choose from.

He did not include 1/4 round trim and base boards in estimate so my mother paid additional money for 1/4 rounds and assumed that was all that was needed to finish floors. The trim did NOT match the rest of the flooring already in place in the house. 2nd He told my 77 yr old mother that he was finished and collected his money " in cash" and then told her he DOES NOT do baseboards and left half of the job of installing the trim unfinished. 3rd. When he came out and gave her the estimate he had to see there was no trim or baseboards in certain areas that had to be removed due to the water damage , did he think my 77 yr old mother was going to put the base boards on so he could then install the trim? Or was she supposed to hire someone to install just the baseboards? If he couldn't complete the job he shouldn't have accepted. Finally when Ben and your store was called and asked why my 77 year old mothers floor was not finished we were told they don't do baseboards. I Do Not Recommend either Bowman's or Ben Owens, Dun-Rite Flooring. They took advantage of a 77 year old woman and they did not stand behind their recommendation and they did not complete the job.
