Haven't been here in years but glad I came back! Everything seems better- the interior is more open and spacious, and bright and airy. The concession stand is much improved- popcorn is fresh popped (not pre-made bagged), and they have expanded their selection to include hit goods like pizza and chicken. The theaters, though not new, are clean and the audio and video is top notch. So happy that my neighborhood movie theater is now a preferred destination! read more

As a former Colchester resident, I'm familiar with Gallery Cinemas. We actually had my son's 9th birthday party there. He's now 27, so it's been quite a while, yet the theater hasn't changed too much. It's still quaint and cozy with friendly service, yet no reclining seats. You're able to pre-buy your tickets but you can't choose your seats online. Gallery could maybe use a remodel but it's fine, as long as you're not expecting the latest technology. read more

They have DIBS!! I don't remember the last time I was in a classic movie theater, & it's something I didn't know I missed until I stepped in. I can equate the feels I had to when I went to the drive-in theater. You forget about just keeping things simple & enjoying the atmosphere. Compared to going into a huge commercial movie theater that's pumping popcorn smells into the air & all the hustle & bustle with people trying to get their snacks & rush to their designated areas. I went to Gallery on a Wednesday night. Not busy at all. I've driven passed it many times on different days & still haven't really seen a lot of cars, which I like. The decor is definitely classic with the various old & newish movie posters along the walls. I'm not sure what the significance of the car is, but it was a nice touch. Along with floral decor lining the top of the entrance/exit doors. There's a tiny area for the arcade & I think any parties being held would be on either side of the concessions counter. Which is a little odd, if that's accurate. I did become ridiculously excited about the Dibs, if you couldn't tell. I don't know the last time I had them & I haven't noticed any other of the big theaters having them. So, definitely purchased those, with a popcorn & small soda which is more like a medium soda. But what made things even better is that the attendent asked if I wanted butter in the middle w/o me asking! I was being treated like royalty. Of course I had to eat a couple kernels before heading to my designated theater & I was in heaven. I don't think they use the same type of butter as the big names, it tasted better & didn't feel like I was going to have a stomach ache afterwards. I head around the corner, find my theater & upon entering, the nostalgia continues. Classic seating where you have to pick your seat strategically so you're not obstructing anyone's view & you're not watching the back of someone's head. However, I don't think the later would happen anyway, because the screen is elevated enough. Obviously, it's a smaller screen but it has great clarity & the sound system wasn't lacking either. I have no regrets coming here to see Top Gun. There were maybe 11 other people & they were all mature & respectful. This was such a nice treat. read more

Gallery Cinemas is a cozy cinema and an awesome addition to Colchester. The theaters are always clean and the customer service is always pleasant. The seating isn't luxury but it gets the job done since they are comfortable chairs that tip back with your body weight. The sound and picture systems are good as well so there will be no disappointment there. Concession prices are standard and overpriced like most theaters but that's no reason to not catch a film here! Recently, the theater changed ticket prices to $11 per ticket and Bargain Tuesday prices are now $6.25 per ticket...still a great deal and beats paying over $20 for two! All in all, Gallery Cinemas is a laidback, cozy, and fun night out with the family. read more

Nice theater in Colchester. Need cash for tickets (there's an ATM in the lobby) can use a card at concessions. Has 3D theaters.

I will be avoiding coming back to this theater because it is literally painful to sit through the movies due to the volume being set too high. I was uncomfortable tonight DESPITE wearing earplugs which I had brought to ameliorate this situation. The movie itself was uncomfortably loud and the trailers were deafening! I feel like I should be calling OSHA to investigate. read more

What a great find. If you're in the area camping or whatever this place is perfect for catching that new movie for just $5! Tuesday nights are $5 and it wasn't packed so perfect for people that don't like crowds. We just watched the new Star Wars and there was a total of 15 other people. Not a large theater but also not expensive. 4 total screens and most shows are after 4pm. read more

I think this is a cute little theatre - definitely diggin the old school chandelier and car in the lobby. I went here on a Friday evening though, and there were nothing but high school kids there. I definitely felt old. =( Another plus is that it's about a dollar cheaper than the chain movie theatres. read more

Pretty good for a local, non-chain, non-big box theater. Has 3-D and has served the community well. Matinees until 6 PM. Many good memories with the kids. A lot cleaner than the inner city theaters I went to in the Capital of NJ where there was popcorn boxes flying and candy stuck under the chairs from the generation before! LOL read more

Just came back from a movie. As the credits started, they turned the lights on and started to sweep. About halfway through the credits they shut off the film. The person who was heading the cleanup crew asked us if we were waiting around for a post-credits scene. We said yes. She said there was no post-credits scene and asked all the groups in the theater to leave. We got home, Googled it, and turns out there IS a post-credits scene. They shut off the film to get us out of there faster, but the horrible part is THEY LIED TO THEIR PAYING CUSTOMERS. I will never give them another cent of my money, so rude. read more

It's always dirty in the theaters when I go there, the popcorn is over-priced, and the employees are VERY rude! Small and very crappy theater. My advice would be to go to a different theater and get a better movie experience! read more

just held my kid's tenth birthday here, I couldn't be more pleased. Pleasant staff, birthday hats and plates, coloring/activities (themed to the film) popcorn and drinks and reserved seating, free to bring in your own cake, food, etc. all for a reasonable price. read more
