Booked this venue for my daughter's bridal shower. We were in the Corinthian Room. The room was absolutely beautiful!! Dealt with Ron during the booking process. He was very helpful and accommodating during our meetings. Michael, our Maitre' D, was extremely helpful before, during, and after our party. The wait staff was very courteous and efficient during our event. The food was delicious! My guests raved about the food that day. Some of my guests have even called me to rave about the food and the venue! Did not have an issue with parking. The only reason I did not give a five star review is because we could hear the music from the event below us and that was a bit annoying. That being said, I would book this venue again. read more

These people were ABSOLUTELY RUDE on the phone. I called the first time and a lady named Michelle answered, I asked her for pricing for a baby shower and she stated that they do not price over the phone. I told her i lived in Virginia, and she said, "give me your number and I will TRY to call you back." I gave her my number and it was a 201 number and she said, "Well that doesn't sound like a VA number." I said, "no its actually a Jersey City #. (Does she not think people move and keep the same number) Needless to say she never called me back. I called two weeks later and was transferred to the catering/booking department and tried to explain to the man what happened and he just cut me off. I was flabbergasted at the rudenss!!! Galloping Hill Caterers is located behind Galloping Hill In, at Union's Five Points. I suspect that it wouldn't be possible to live in, or near, Union without being invited to at least one party at Galloping Hill Caterers. This is a large operation which often hosts multiple events simultaneously, and your experiences and impressions of both food and decor may vary widely, depending upon the options selected by your host. What appears to be the main reception area is ornately designed elegance; attractive, but just a little over the top. Other areas are more "VFW hall" in appearance; functional, rather than fancy, and adequate for my tastes. The food also offers many choices, and I've never eaten anything illness-inducing or bad here. The high end offers very tasty, but unspectacular, renditions of Continental and American steam table favorites. While hardly fine dining, I'll truthfully state that I've always liked the food; predictable, with the added touches needed to make it interesting. I called Galloping Hill to inquire about pricing for a surprise birthday event for my father. A woman named Michelle answered the phone. She said it was ok for me to come in, view the facility and look at prices later that week. My sister and I arrived at the venue and it was beautiful!! Decor was updated, place appeared to be clean, everything about it sounded like a winner until we met Michelle. I walked into her office with a smile and greeting and she did not even pick up her head from her desk to greet us! Strike 1.. Then she asked us the event, # of ppl and date, didn't even offer for us a seat, Strike 2.. She turned around, grabbed some paper circled a few boxes, ran down the list literally in 2 secs of what was offered and what wasnt and then slid the paper to the other side of the table! Wait it get better, she then asked us if we could change our date because she was already booked, Strike 3.. She didn't offer to show us a room that would fit the amount of ppl in our party. I had to literally ask her was there a room available I could see so I can have an idea of the lay out! Then she didn't even say have a good day... Word to the wise, MICHELLE is awful and her customer service skills suck! I spoke with other people and they have said the same thing, but they are suckered into having events there because the prices are so cheap. And I agree, their pricing was the cheapest of all the venues I looked at. Its actually a steal because the place is awesome. Just wish they had an equally awesome sales coordinator. You can't have a great product and a pushy person selling it.. I am not spending thousands of my hard earned money to be treated like that! Good Luck to anyone that has an event there. My family and I booked the Galloping Hills for my sisters surprised 40th birthday party this past weekend (01/21/18). I have nothing but excellent things to say. The venue was beautiful. Thanks to Ronnie and (young Joe) everything was EXCELLENT they both went above and beyond. The food, the decor, the ambiance, etc. Ronnie and Joe made our event a hit. They made sure everyone was well taken care. I have to also thank their excellent staff as they took care of every single guest request and detail. I will definitely be booking more events. I recently had an event there and I had so many problems with the management staff. When I went to book, I feel like they were just looking for my deposit check. As soon as I coughed that up, I was ushered out of the building. There was no explaination of "how we do things here"; nothing. After I booked, I feared the room was going to be too small. I called and spoke with George who told me this was no problem and the room would be fine for our possible overflow. I recieved another phone call for our buffet selection. I asked if maybe we could do a variation of what was offered, and this was NOT recieved well. Then, two weeks before the event, I was told by Louie that this room would not be adequate. Then a nice woman named Cindy offered to do some changing around for us. She was the most helpful employee they I had contact with. Then a day or so before the event, I called to ask if we could change our napkin color. No one called me back. When I arrived, of course the color had not been changed and the only explanation I was given by Antonio, another manager, was that they don't check their messages. This is after he awkwardly scolded one of his waitstaff in front of me for offering to change the color for us. The party turned out to be really great. The waitstaff there are so pleasant and helpful, and the food was actually very good. If you were planning on bookign a party, I would deal with Cindy. I suppose this is my only bit of advice. I have been to so many catering halls, where they are so helpful and catering to your needs. After spending thousands of dollars, you would expect things would have gone a bit more smoothly. I know a few people that held events at Galloping Hill Inn and did not run into these problems, so maybe it was just our bad luck. Have been planning my grandmother's 80th birthday party for about 4 months. Had a great experience here 4 years ago but the service has seriously gone down hill. As with most parties, people show who do not RSVP. The staff would not get our guest (some of who were elderly) chairs until we paid for them first. Then they forgot the Viennese table which was $5 extra per person and we were told we could not get a refund because the manager was not there. They could not see to the comfort of our guests without getting money immediately, but when it comes to a refund, that will take who knows how long. The mature 'd which we paid extra for was useless and full of attitude. The rest of the staff was more pleasant and helpful. The bartender was great and personable. read more

My daughters Christening was August 13th 2017. The food was good, but I received better service from on my local Dunkin Donuts. I can't believe I actually paid my money to people who clearly were not happy serving me and my guest. I chose this place because I went there for a repass and the food was awesome, but I wish I had paid double the price somewhere else to get a professional experience. This place is quite possibly the worst managed place! We went to an event here in mid-summer on a very hot and humid day, and the A.C. Wasn't on and everyone was so hot. Talked to waitress and she said to talk to manager on 7/8/2017. I did and he simply stated the a.c. Was being worked on and nothing else I can do. No apology or anything. Very bad experience with the banquet sales staff - they are incompetent and liars. On Sautrday, we discussed with Michelle having our daughter's bat mitzvah at Galloping Hills. She did not have a clue as to how to plan the meals. She told us repeatedly that our date was available. We said that we would come back this week and were told that the date would be held. When we came back on Tuesday, someone else in the office said the date was taken and that dates are not held without a deposit. We were told that she made a mistake. We have attended both an Engagement Party and Wedding Reception at Galloping Hill in the last six months, and both were exceptional affairs. George and his staff are very accommodating and hands on. The wife had a bridal shower here one day after the building was flooded. Wet carpets, slippery tile floor, hot musty room.... You get the picture. The sad part is she was never notified of the situation in advance and showed up to a disaster with staff fumbling to lay out dirty carpet on wet slippery floors. No ice, no ice cream no mimosa fountain no management to be found. Have been in contact for restitution and dealing with the most arrogant and dismissive banquet manager imaginable. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! I don't even know where to begin with this review! I am in the service/wedding industry so I have seen the service level and quality of many catering venues, and I was flabbergasted at the lack of professionalism and respect this venue had for its guests. I attended an event here this past weekend where I witnessed ( just as a guest) someone who worked here telling guests to "hurry up and eat because he needed to remove the food" there was a woman who came into the event to very loudly yell at ( oh there is no exaggeration when I say yell) one of the organizers of the event in front of all their guests. When the hostess of the event tried to address it with a manager she was rushed to sign the credit card slip, he dismissed her and asked her to hurry up because another event needed to set up. I understand booking events back to back but an hour does not allow sufficient time for An event to clean up and set up another. Many people stayed to help in the chaos as the vendor made them feel less than and rushed. To top it all off after the screaming incident, I overheard two managers a very rude conversation where he said to the woman " wow you're two for two this week!!" This lead me to believe this kind of rude behavior is the norm at galloping hill caterers. The food was ehhh to say the least but I was so distracted by how incredibly and blatantly rude the management staff was that I didn't pay attention to the details. Your events at this level should be special, you should feel like no matter how many events are taking place at that very moment the service and attention to detail make you feel like you are the only event taking place. I am a bride to be and there were about 5 brides to be in this room and 4 expecting mothers....and 3 event planners that all attended this event! You will hear from NONE of us! And we will be sure to spread the word with clients and friends that you are unprofessional! And classless! Do yourself a favor! Do not deal with this venue! read more

I called during the week to make an appointment and was told an appointment was not needed and to come whenever available. As we entered the venue, not one person was there to greet us nor asked if we needed help. A gentleman passed by, smiled at us and went upstairs. We were there for 10min viewing the venue by ourselves until we heard voices in the next room. My fiancee had to look for someone to help us. Same gentleman who passed us (Louie) was the person who 'helped' us. He sent us to look at the rooms without any escort.He was very unprofessional. They had the least prices compared to other venues. The place was very presentable (especially the 'Crystal room'). Otherwise, they need to work on their customer service. Staff was courteous and went above and beyond the extra mile to ensure our wedding would turn out right! The wedding was a huge success, service impeccable food outstanding! I just went to a wedding at this facility on a Friday night. The experience was horrible! The room the wedding was held in was on the second floor and it was a complete sauna, about 90 degrees for the first hour (the wedding started late). They told us because the room was mostly made up of windows it was attracting the sun like a solar, but the air conditioner was on. After waiting an hour the air conditioner came on and would run off and on in 15 minute increments. It made it a little cooler after a while, but if the wedding started on-time everyone would have been stuck in this hot room. Then I found out the brother of the groom, who is in a wheelchair could not get up to the wedding. He had to go through the kitchen just to get into the facility and no one at the facility tried to accommodate the fact that he would not be able to get to the wedding room on the second floor. Then we found out that the reception was in the basement. The pastor officiating the wedding was able to find out that there was a ramp down to the basement but he had to go back out through the kitchen, outside and around the building to get to this ramp that took him into the basement. No one from the facility tried to help in this matter without the lady assisting him asking for some help and direction on what to do. For this place to generate thousands of dollars each week I was appalled after experiencing such poor service and lack of compassion for patrons with disabilities. There were two attendees at this wedding in wheelchairs, one was carried up and down the stairs by family members and the other had the watch the wedding on FaceTime after being sent away through service halls and the kitchen area. I have been to banquets and had a party years ago at this facility but I will never spend another dime, or suggest them to anyone I know. I don't even understand why they are still in business because after this experience, I don't know how they can be up to code in 2017! Please beware before you spend your money with them. I had a scheduled event at the Galloping Inn for my daughter this year. The people working there seemed to be friendly with there fake smiles, but they lacked understanding of customer service or relations. I told them I had a sick grandfather who may not last the week and this would impact the party severely. There were no suggestions or sympathy on their side. I felt like they took what i said lightly and only cared about the bottom line. My grandfather did pass away with cancer two days prior the party. I called them about deducting some heads from the party, but instead of showing some sign of human compassion, they answered, "no no there's noway we can do that, sorry but you can take all the left overs". Hmmmm..thanks so much, thats what I need 10 trays of the chicken marsala food in my fridge. Thanks for nothing Galloping Hill Inn. stay far away from this dump!! i recently called to inquire about a 50 th surprise birthday party for my husband and had the pleasure of speaking to a rude verbally abusive lady by the name of michelle. i was asking questions just like any normal person looking to book a party would. she advised me to come down and view the facility,asn like a ignorant person that i am i did, when i got there, it seemed like she could not be bbothered with me, go look and see what you think, i did went back to her office to discuss and she got into a rage because i wasent ready to book, i just wanted to make sure that the date they had would work for me. to my surprise she said"if your not ready to book a party why come down here and waste my time" , i immediately got up and walked out, there was another man in the adjacent office, he did nothing! not even to see if i was ok or apologise . same of=n you michelle, anf the other man in that office that day. they are rude, high pressure and extremely nasty! stay away you will be disappointed!!!!! read more
