I have been a 15+ year customer who purchases family birthday cakes from no other bakery. The last several times I have been disappointed in the taste of the cake. I had hoped that it was a fluke and the long standing quality and taste that I had always known would be back to standard on my next visit. I was wrong. Third time was not a charm. Icing tasted like slightly sweetened shaving cream that frosted a dry 1/2 vanilla 1/2 chocolate cake that in no way had a taste that made Gallo cakes famous. It seemed to me that it is an ingredient cost cutting attempt that sacrificed quality. I would pay the price to save the quality. A grocery store would have tasted better, at a fraction of the price. I rarely give reviews, but I want Gallo's to be aware that good customer service goes a long way toward keeping a customer. Apparently this business does not think the decoration is an important part of a cake. I had a very simple 7" cake in which I asked for red lettering and no extraneous decorations (balloons, flowers, etc.). What I received was yellow lettering and balloons. I was forced to take the cake because there was no manager to speak with and the decorators had left already. When I did speak with the manager, I received no apology and was treated as if decoration was inconsequential to the cake. I didn't receive much of a refund. If they had apologized and tried to make it right, I would have continued to go there. My family and I are no longer customers. read more

We just received our daughters birthday cake and I must admit, I am most disappointed. It is a sheet cake with a custom image on it. Firstly the height of the cake is less than previous years for the same cake. Are they shrinking the height now? Secondly the cake is uneven and slightly lopsided on the lower right. We called to complain and there was no acknowledgement that this was a problem. They insist this is how it should be. I will NEVER use them again. If I could give this place a negative star count I would. We ordered our wedding cake from them and what a big mistake that was. Our entire cake was crooked, it looked like it had melted and fell apart and someone just patched it all together last minute. There were big seams on the bottom tear and the list goes on. Our cake was a disaster not only aesthetically but it so didn't taste fresh. My guess is they made it a week before and had it sit in a refrigerator for days. We had a consultation and several emails and at no point in time it was ever communicated to us that what we were asking for was going to be difficult to produce. So much money and effort was put into our big day and we had rented a room in our wedding venue just for this cake! What we were given was unacceptable. After all the headache and irreversible damage this caused us we got a 5 sentence email from the owner, 5 sentences full of excuses. Instead of owning what happened and writing a long apology he tried to point fingers to our catering company. Very unprofessional! Be ware of what gallos promises and delivers. I will never order anything from them again and have advised all my friends and family to stay away from this place. read more

I had an appointment at 8 on a Sunday morning to have a consultation for my wedding cake. My whole family and I arrived on time and sat down to meet with the decorator. After asking us for our wedding date (which I had already told her on the phone), she told us that they decided to close that week in July and would not be able to help us. It was extremely frustrating that they were inconsiderate enough to let us drive a half an hour at 7:30 on a sunday morning, for absolutely no reason! The woman was rude and unapologetic. I have never gotten anything that wasn't to die for from Gallos bakery. My husband bought my birthday cake from here a few years ago and It was the best tasting cake I ever had. I have gone back often to buy cupcakes. They are the best cupcakes I have ever found. I even went to the bakery that is on t.v and NOTHING compares to a Gallo's cupcake. The confetti cupcake omg is so yummy, I am going back again today to get 6 more cupcakes. Gallo's is the best in Burlington County !!! read more

Been customers for years and love all the Gallo locations! The negative comments caught me off guard so I felt I needed to throw in our experience. The ricotta cannolis are the best around. We buy their cakes for every occasion and they completely outdid themselves for my sister's baby shower. Not the biggest fan of their assorted cookies, so that's what is keeping me from the fifth star. I think the Cherry Hill location has better customer service than Mt. Laurel. They bake fresh at the Mt. Laurel location every day and deliver to the other locations. My sister travels to Gallos from Cape May for all her bakery needs. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, so please give them a try and make your own decision, don't let the low starts keep you away. read more

Just ordered a sheet cake for my daughter's birthday party and this cake was aaaaaamazing!!! So many people came up to me at the party asking where it was from. we got half chocolate half vanilla. Both were so good but that vanilla was probably the best I've ever had. Decoration could have been a little tighter but was still cute and in my opinion, sometimes taste is more important than looks. read more

Decided to stop by and give them a try because I have been into donuts lately. I got the cream doughnut, vanilla icing doughnut with some cinnamon swirl?, and plain glazed. I thought they were just okay, nothing amazing to warrant a special visit but they're not horrible (you really can't go wrong with sweets!) I'd probably say I prefer the cream donuts at McMillian's in Haddonfield. Another thing to note, you have to eat the donuts in the first day or else they get hard, so they don't last very long. read more

Their cream doughnuts are by far the best!! My coworker will bring them into the office and they are gone in minutes. The Mt. Laurel location has the doughnuts, whereas the Cherry Hill location is more cakes. I can't comment on anything but the doughnuts, but if that's all they made... I would still go. read more

I have been going to Gallo's annually for my daughter's birthday cake for the last 5 years. I've ordered the same thing each time - a 1/4 sheet cake with a picture they transfer onto the cake. The pictures turn out great but in the last couple of years they definitely changed their cake recipe. The cakes have no flavor whatsoever. Their cakes are expensive so you would expect that they would use quality ingredients, which they clearly do not. The cakes used to be so moist and buttery, now a cake from a supermarket would taste better. Even their butter cookies don't taste like they use butter. I will not be returning. Poor quality and high prices. read more

I have been to this location twice, both times I was greeted by a miserable, extremely rude counter woman who treated us like we were a bother. (Appears everyone there is miserable. The other lady at the store treated a co-worker I was with the same way when she asked what flavor the cupcake was) I went to get a creme filled donut that I have heard others rave about but both times, they didn't have any. Very pleased with Gallo's. We went to Gallo's for a weeding cake, the taste was exactly what my daughter was looking for. My daughter wants a square cake and Gallo's did not have a problem with that, unlike another bakery. They took time and listened to what she wanted, they didn't try to make the cake the way they wanted. After many bakeries later, we went bake to Gallo's,made a depost and also ordered some canlois. I am shocked that this place has anything less than four stars. Gallo's is amazing. Do they run out of donuts? Yes! But we all know they make small batches and you need to get there early. If you miss out it's tough luck and that's the way it should be at a bakery this size. Overall everything here is delicious. The donuts are out of this world, stuffed full of filling, and coated with the sweetest most exquisite icing. The cheesecakes are the perfect balance of firmness and creaminess. The cupcakes are moist and full of flavor. The icing combinations are extremely well thought out and go together perfectly. Today I stopped in and picked up a chocolate strawberry cake that was so delicious people raved about it and wanted to know where it came from. I found my new bakery! I moved and used to go to L&M Bakery. I am now a fan of Gallo's! I have ordered birthday cakes and have brought donuts to work especially their decadent creamed filled donuts, and always gotten great feedback. I just ordered a carrot cake for a birthday. It fed 25-30 people and got rave reviews from everyone who had some, including my PA relatives. Gallo's bakes on premises which is a plus! Love my new bakery! read more

I honestly was VERY DISSATISFIED & VERY DISAPPOINTED. I had scheduled a consultation appointed with Jenn who highly recommend to go over all details of the cake. After doing my appt I provided all & even more detail to assure no problems with my order. A month later as the date got closer I call the bakery to confirm again all detail! The day I go in to pick up my cake it was a Total Disaster. The color & decor of my cake wasn't at all what was agreed. When I tell Jenn that the cake wasn't at all what we discussed her Reason was that it could have been miss-communication with the Decorator. That she works in other locations and she can't follow with the decorator for every order. Total BS! I made her fix the cake to make it look 1/2 decent but it wasn't at all what I wanted. We were recommended to go here for our wedding cake and I can't think why. We first met with one of the bakery girls who clearly didn't know anything about wedding cakes, or what size or amount we would need. Leann, the "cake decorator" came out next and without any introductions started talking about all the designs she couldn't and wasn't willing to do. I told her I liked French buttercream and she patronizingly asked me if I had ever tried French buttercream and then said that making French buttercream for our wedding cake would be too much of an ordeal for her. Imagine our surprise upon hearing that our business was too much of an ordeal! Next I showed her pictures of different cakes and designs that I like, and she practically laughed in our faces saying that the designs were too intricate for her to do. When we finally got to tasting the cakes, any possibility of using Gallos disappeared. If I wanted cheap, overly sweet, boxed cake I could go to Entemmans and be more satisfied. I would never use or recommend Gallos to even my worst enemy- although recommending them would be too much of an ordeal for me. read more

I ordered cupcakes here for my gender reveal party. As for the flavor of the cupcakes and the aesthetics, I am very pleased. However, I requested purple, blue, pink and green icing. Unfortunately I was given yellow instead of green. I also requested "?" on some of the cupcakes. They did not do this. I called them the day of the party and explained the situation. This was a saturday evening and the bakers were all gone for the day. Someone was supposed to call me back on Sunday or Monday but no one ever did. I am 6 months pregnant so it really is not worth stressing out over something like this but I am not happy. Unless they rectify this somehow, I don't plan on going back. read more

I ordered 90 heart shaped cookies to box as favors and every cookie was perfect. The cake was decorated beautifully and tastefully. All the cake was gone by the end of the shower! It was delicious! Long time customer no more. Ordered many b-day cakes etc over the years but tioday I experienced very poor customer service. Had issue with unopened cupcakes at school and tried to return or get a credit. Nothing. Spoke with manager and they did nothing for me. Asked for refund my For son'a birthday this weekend.. they didn't even fight it. Will not return. Supposed to be family run??! No understanding or willingness to try to make me happy! Very sad!! We absolutely loved the birthday cakes we got from the Cherry Hill Gallo's for each of my daughters' birthday parties this year! Their birthdays are 6 months apart, and each cake was excellent (consistent quality over time). Had gotten many other products over the years (cupcakes, Irish Soda Bread, cookies) from Gallo's Mt. Laurel location, which were all top quality too. With a chef in the family, we are very discerning customers and always seeking out the best products in South Jersey and Philadelphia. The large sheet cakes were beautifully decorated - I provided some input on color preferences, which they built upon to create amazing results - even better than I expected. And the cake inside was fantastic! We got half chocolate and half vanilla to suit all tastes in the large groups we were serving. The icing was great too - not excessively sugary, with good flavor and consistency. I highly recommend this bakery! read more
