Nice place for a hearty breakfast. I can't speak for other meals, but we have had several great breakfasts here over the years. Whenever we visit relatives in Appleton, we love to visit Galvan's. Prices are still reasonable for a good amount of food. Go hungry. Coffee is pretty good too. Sunday am at 11a we were told 15 min wait, it wasn't even 5. Large menu-my husband got the lumberjack omelet, side of toast, and it was really big, delicious. I have lived in the valley a long time, and honestly, I am not sure why we have never tried Galvans. In the last month, we have ordered twice, dine in and carryout. I have also had lunch with a friend, a great BLT! I have elderly family members we take to breakfast who have mobility issues. It can be a challenge. Galvan's was very welcoming, which in my book gives them a step above. I watched staff interact with elderly singles who are regulars. They took time to listen, and you could feel the community. We asked for a booth but we got a table, no big deal, so we were waiting for about 15 minutes and we were getting a little upset. Because people were getting served before us even though they were seated after us. My daughter and I went here on a Friday night for a fish special. The staff was very slow, but there was only one waitress for a Friday night crowd and she was flustered. I had a perch plate and when it finally arrived, I got fries instead of the baked potato I ordered. The rice it came with was dry and tasteless and the fish, although it looked good, five fillets nicely presented, had bones in it which got stuck in my teeth and made it hard for me to enjoy. Just as we were getting up to leave, the waitress came and asked me if I had ordered a baked potato. I told her yes and to wrap it up to go. My daughter ordered a shrimp plate and she seemed to enjoy it. My daughter got a refil of her soda, however, the watiress never asked me if I wanted one. Part of me wants to feel bad for her because she was trying hard and when we went to check out, she did apologize. Sorry folks, if you want my business, you need to step it up a bit. If you have fish specials on Fridays, have two or more waitstaff. It's better to send someone home early than to shortchange your customers on service, and bones in the fish, really!!!! I drive past here every day to go to work and I recall eating lunch here once, like 15 years ago. But i'm rarely over doing business in this section of town, for any amount of time, but today I was in the area, running errands, So I decided to stop here for breakfast with my son. We walked in and the place was packed, which is a good sign, I thought. We stood at the hostess station for a few minutes, one of the servers told us someone would be with us shortly. My son picked up their pen (it had fake silk flowers on it) he showed it to the server and said "I really like this pen" One of the hostesses (50/55 years old or so) came over and without saying anything, took it out of his hand and set it down on the podium. I thought that was a bit rude, but blew it off. Maybe it happens all the time with that pen and gets annoying? But for me, considering he had it in his hand, showing their employees, so they knew what he was talking about, and complimenting it, for all of 20 seconds, I thought it was a bit extreme. Oh well... ok... On to the menu. It is extensive. I'll give them that. They have a lot to choose from. I decided on the corned beef hash, eggs over medium, sourdough toast and hash browns. Coffee to drink My son got scrambled eggs, sausage, toast and hash browns. Chocolate Milk to drink. I drank about 1/4 of my cup of coffee and looked in it. The inside of my cup was filthy. It appeared to be stained with coffee but when I put my finger on it, it wiped away. Instantly grossed out. My server walked past and I said "this cup is filthy" She grabbed it, no apology uttered, and brought me a new one. I was seriously nervous to drink from it tho. The coffee when I did drink it, was not great. It was weak and cheap tasting. Not a fan. I drank as little of it as I could. But what I did drink definitely did not agree with me, and shortly after finishing our meal, I felt my tummy rumbling a bit. So It was also not a fan. My eggs were over cooked so I didn't eat them. The corned beef hash was good tho. Standard as is from anywhere. My son who LOVES hash browns said "I like them from everywhere but here" They were way too done and very crunchy. So, yah, we ate here for breakfast and needless to say... I can definitely wait another 15+ years to eat here again. read more

Was referred to go and eat here for breakfast. Walking in to the restaurant, you know that what you are going to eat is gonna be good. I ordered the gyro plate, and was not disappointed in any way with my plate. The portions on this plate were very generous and did not leave me wanting anything else afterwards. I was very satisfied with my plate, and the service provided by the wait staff. Didnot have to ask for anything, if they saw I needed something, it was given to me even before having to ask. Although the food is great, the service is not. Of the dozen or so times i have been here in the past several years, literally every single time we have gone either my order or my girlfriend's order has had something wrong with it. Either things are not on the side as asked for, things are missing, completely wrong entrees, not to mention generally slow service. The most egregious error was when i ordered a scrambler for breakfast, asked for hash browns extra crispy and on the side (I do not like soggy hash browns, they completely ruin a meal for me.) Not only were the hash browns soggy, they were mixed in with my scrambler, the eggs were wrong and it was missing ingredients. After waiting 30 minutes to get the wrong order, i had to wait another 20 for the correct order to show up, meanwhile my girlfriend had completely finished her meal (who would wait and eat a cold meal, no one). By the time i finally got my food i had it wrapped up to go since i couldn't stand to be there anymore. To be fair, in this instance they comped my meal, but it just serves to show the complete cluster fk that their kitchen is. The food is good, when its right, but i cannot recommend going here unless you are willing to wait a long time to get an order, and likely have something wrong with it. read more

2nd time in the restaurant. To start off, the portion sizes for the breakfast are large. I normally always finish a meal, especially breakfast. The scramblers here I have taken home both times. The food was great, hot and seemed to be fresh. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Those are the positives. The low notes are the price is a little higher than other places of this caliber. The coffee is rather dull, not strong enough or flavorful. On the note of the coffee. My second time in the and I was drinking my coffee and notice a red smudge on the inside of the brim of the mug. I turn the mug and see the shape of lips. Wiped it and it comes off...lipstick. And on the side I notice a dried coffee drip. Mentioned it to the waitress, was offered a new mug. I said no and she just said sorry and walked away. I also had water in the cap of the syrup, the outside was wet too, assuming it was from being cleaned. Not a big deal. Aside from the dirty mug, mediocre coffee, slightly more expensive menu prices, the food is great and staff is friendly. I would've given 4 stars but that dirty mug killed it and that it wasn't offered to be taken off the bill. I don't ask for or expect free things, but when you're served something in a dirty mug, it kills your appetite. read more

Make sure to order the sourdough! Toast comes already buttered. I've never had a bad experience here. THE place for breakfast in Appleton. Omelettes and skillets come in a wide variety of delicious options. French toast is fantastic! And the coffee is excellent, much better than you'd think for a diner like this. Lunch and dinner are good (tacos and Ave Favorite burger especially) -- but breakfast is where Galvan's really shines. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they've had a pretty stable group for a couple years so they work together well and you will see familiar faces on return visits. read more

Obviously Stephanie has bone to pick with them, she posted the same review on other sites, you had a bad experience, get over it, assuming there is more to the story, I have to question your slander and reason for slamming them in several places. I have eaten there and have never had a bad meal or service. They have the best Gyro's in the valley as far as I am concerned, a huge menu, everything I have ever gotten there was great. Never had a bad meal in 14 years of going there. Breakfast are amazing as well, and I have never had bad service, not once. I actually think they continually have the best waitstaff on a consistent basis, very friendly and courteous. Never trust a fib for a review of a WI restaurant - they are snobs.
