First timer for trying this butter burger joint. The atmosphere was nice and whatever music they were streaming was great. It can be a little loud there when it's busy, but that's all part of the vibe. Service was great, they tag team the tables so multiple servers checked on us. Service was impeccable from the time we walked in until we left. We hadn't been there before and burgers are my husband's favorite food, so he's always looking for a good burger place. Let me just say that the place smells amazing because of the charcoal grill. There are no more than 10 tables and a bar to sit at but they were all almost taken even though it was 4 in the afternoon. My husband ordered the 1/4 lb cheeseburger and a brat piggy back with fries. I ordered a chocolate shake with 1/3 lb cheeseburger with onion rings. We both said yes to butter, onions, and pickles even though we really didn't know what that meant until we received our food. The size of the burgers are up there in portion sizes, at least the bread. My husband felt like his patty was a little too thin. He also said that the burger needed some seasoning. The charcoal flavor came through but the meat itself needed more seasoning. The fries are a lightly battered fry but probably not fresh made. They were a little thicker so they had a good meaty bite. The onion rings were beer battered, I believe...or at least like a tempura batter. The shake was thick and chocolatey. There was nothing wrong with the food but it didn't quite measure up to what we read and heard about it. Very good but not great. Stopped in on a busy Saturday. Sat at the counter which was a little tight, but I'm a hefty guy (lol). Within 1 minute we had our drink order in, another minute our food order. Wife ordered a double with mayo, lettuce, and pickle, and I had a single cheese with onion tomato and ketchup. Both had well done fries. 12 minutes later, we had burgers to the bar. Char-grilled with real lump charcoal in the cooking area. Wife said she should have had mine, and I wish I had gotten hers. lol. Be prepared for not getting blood work done for the next few days, cause you can see the butter lump they put on each bun. Overall, delicious in every way. I have been going to Mihm's Charcoal Grill for decades.I remember standing outside after bar time waiting for a seat. If I remember correctly, and correct me if I'm wrong, it had 6 stools and 3 booths. When they moved across the street, I followed. When they changed owners, I followed. When they closed, I wasn't happy. When they reopened, I was overjoyed. So tonight was not my first time at Mihm's. And after all these years, I hope it won't be the last time. Tonight, like so many nights, I had the steak sandwich with cheese, onion, and butter. Some places say they have a butter burger... You haven't had a butter burger until the butter runs down your chin. My only disappointment is that the "We Don't Serve Coke Products" is down. Just the story is worth keeping the sign-up! OMG--- so first time since the exchange of ownership. I took my boyfriend who it was his first!!!! What a fantastic dinner. It was Friday so it was busy, I think 8 tables and then the single seats. Mihms has always been a good place to eat. I had a cheeseburger and a order of cheese curds. The cheeseburger was good but the cheese curds were over cooked and a little dark. It seemed like they had been cooked twice, I don't think they were, but maybe oil needed to be changed. The service was good, they were friendly and quick. My only previous visit was a few years ago now and I know they're closing next month, so my review isn't going to impact their business as much as it would have if I had remembered to post it when I actually stopped. That said, I'm leaving a review anyway because they deserve it. I'm sad it took me so long to find out about Mihm's when I was actually living in the Fox Valley because I feel like so many years were wasted not enjoying their delicious food. Needless to say, the burger is one of the best I've ever had. The cheese curds were great and the caramel apple pie for dessert is also among one of the best pies I've ever had. I had to try Mihn's after learning from a friend that he thinks "Mihn's has THE BEST cheeseburger in Wisconsin." I took his statement as a my culinary investigative mission! The menu is simple. Burgers, brats, fried cheese curds, shakes and malts, etc. KISS totally works for this iconic family-run restaurant. I ordered a butterscotch malt, a hamburger and an order of salt and pepper tots to share. My husband ordered double butterflied brats. Sitting inside the restaurant to eat I must have heard the following inquiry dozens of times, "onions, pickles, butter?" It is faithfully asked of each and every sandwich ordered. I must say that the "onions, pickles and butter" combo really escalated my hamburger to super delicious. The fresh hard roll was THE perfect bun and the beef was flavorful and nicely seared. Stellar. When my wife found Mihm's Charcoal Grill online, I was expecting a tavern, but when we arrived, it was a cozy diner. The Ground Sirloin Burger was greasy and great, just like it should be! I cannot remember when I've had a burger this great, it's worth going out of you way for this one. The Cheese Curds are top notch as well because there aren't many places that have batter fried curds as good as these! I had a Root Beer Float to top it off, nice part is that the ice cream was not soft serve. The bathrooms were clean and plenty of soap and hot water to clean your greasy hands. There were all kinds of age groups from elderly to a young couple with children. The music was pleasant and the establishment was clean and attractive. The staff was wonderful! This is a neat little burger joint that cooks over an open charcoal pit. The fries are coated in corn starch which gives them crisper texture. They are delicious. The buns are warmed above the burgers as they cook, gives them a smokey flavor. Try this place if you are tired of the cookie cutter burger joints. read more

The food is FABULOUS. All the staff enjoy being at work even on Saturday. They cook with love and you can taste it. It is well worth the drive no matter where you are coming from. I have had this place bookmarked for a while and I finally got over, established 1958 is on the sign which was unexpected because I didn't know it was that old. The place was packed at noon on Saturday with old and young people having burgers and frys. The place is old school looking with a U shaped lunch counter and booths along the walls. They only take cash but if you don't have cash they have an ATM by the front door. I ordered the cheeseburger with how ever they make it, I'm not changing anything so I can taste how the original is. The bun was soft with a hard top crust and not an all soft bun. This butter burger was a true greasy spoon cheeseburger that has pickles, diced onions, ketchup and brown mustard. The cheeseburger was pretty tasty with that grill flavor and I can see why they were packed, get a double because the patty is thin. Is this the best cheeseburger no but the whole experience makes it a must stop for any burger fan. read more

Disappointed last week....not saying the steak sandwich meal isn't good...but not GREAT as it's been for 40 years that I've been enjoying the food. I had a fabulous meal...chocolate malt, fries, steak sandwich...with friends in May....tasted very close to what I have come to expect with butter dripping down my arms....yum! November 12...so excited to have lunch with friends. Once served, I commented that the fries were changed....was told by our server that they were having problems getting consistency and switched providers. I will say it's the first time I've not finished my fries. We also noticed a different bun...not that the new bun was bad....just not as good. Biting into the sandwich there was little running of butter...I started getting a dry sandwich feel. What we discovered was when we bit into the center of the sandwich, we also bit into a block of some type of margarine that was still semi hard...and of course not butter. Don't know if the "butter" was frozen when added to our sandwiches, but it sure didn't melt. The chocolate malt was the only thing that didn't change and it was fabulous like always.
