Nothing dampens my vacation to the beach like a week of rain and no sun but that's what happened. So we were on the hunt for something fun to do with five children under 4! Fortunately we came across this sweet little place on the island. Small and quaint but full of rooms of imagination and learning. Each of the kids had different personalities and within seconds we found a spot for each of them. It may have been a toss up as to whether adults or kids had the most fun. There is only one doorway to come in and out of so we felt pretty safe that we wouldn't lose any too quickly lol. Every time we thought we had seen it all, there were more rooms to discover. Kids were fully entertained and happy to be out of the airbnb. There were enough activities for ages up to 8 I would say. There was also an art studio. Supplies were rough. Very used so a donation might improve that activity. Restrooms clean but small. So was parking. We had to park on adjacent street when we were there. Takeaway-when it rains, make a trip here you won't regret it. I believe it was $10 per head. Oh and be sure to do a little jig with Mr Skeleton while you're there. read more

We have been coming to this museum for at least 8yrs. It's definitely a gem and one of the few indoor places to bring kids to. The space has a lot of open-ended activities to do and will rotate play to keep kids engaged. The space is small, which makes it easier to monitor your child(ren), but has something in every corner for kids to do. As parents, we even get involved in playing with our kids. The camps are great, two of our boys attend regularly, they offer family free nights, and they have some really great events like DaVinci Day. They really do try to meet the needs of families and engage with our community. On a separate note, as a mom of three neurodivergent kids who range in abilities, I appreciate that the staff is welcoming, inclusive, and doesn't judge the boys or us when someone is behaving in a typical way. They embrace who they are as people and don't shy away from engaging with them. If you live in Galveston and haven't made it in, you should. If you're visiting Galveston and want something to entertain your kids, definitely come in. read more

The place is one of Galveston's hidden gem! The museum is definitely somewhere to take the little ones when the weather is not cool on a summer day. The prices are super reasonable and well worth it! No lines and even tho it was busy, there was enough space for everyone. There were over a dozen rooms/stations that have hands on & interactive play! Starting off at Moody Gardens my husband and I are kicking ourself for not coming to the Children's Museum first. The Children's Museum is much more reasonably priced for a child's attention span, turned learning into play and had activities for both age ranges of my children. So many different stations to play with, my husband and I got to play a little also. Staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Bathrooms and changing areas were clean and well kept. Attended a birthday unicorn's birthday party here, and it was absolutely splendid! The party room was nice and spacious for a few dozen people, and the play areas were clean and very thoughtfully set up and maintained. Loved all the different places to play. Very child- centered, but parents were able to join in the fun as the kids play. Kiddos and parents could easily move from room to room to do different things. What a fun place! Fun times! Lots to do for the kiddos. It was rather hot/stagnant in the basement but the staff tried to implement fans to help keep guests. The building is historic and a wonderful indoor place space for busy bodies. My son enjoyed every activity. My only complaints would be the parking lot is very small and used for other tours and you cannot park on the street. Second dislike would be the time limit they give you. We weren't allowed to stay over an hour and a half. Nonetheless, it's a great non-touristy activity at a great price! Check them out!! read more

We loved it! There was a lot to do but not overwhelmingly so like the Houston one. My son was able to try a few activities and was able to go outside and run in the grass and play with the water tables. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Galveston! There are loads of hands-on activities for kids of all ages to do. Our kids were 5 and 2 at the time of the visit and there was plenty for each of them to explore. I wish our home in Dallas had something as cool as this place. If you live in Galveston county and have kids younger than 10, membership here is a no-brainer. It's a fraction of the size of the museum downtown but packed with fun things to explore. I'd say the target age for this place is toddler to roughly 9-10 (although I think older kids might get bored). A lot of the toys are in the montessori vein- very natural, simple wooden blocks and mechanisms. Lots of critical thinking and puzzle type games. Really great stuff for sponge like little minds. It's located in the basement of the Moody mansion which is kind of random and fabulous. The only reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars is the bathroom situation. It would be so awesome if they had a changing table and maybe a small area for nursing. Still, worth a visit if you have a toddler or young one. read more

We took our 3 year old today and she had the most amazing time. I and her dad had a ton of fun as well too. We all enjoyed the make believe area, and played restaurant together. My personal favorite was the art room, I loved all the activities they had out and you got to bring your art home with you. When you purchase your ticket you get a 2 hour time slot (perfect amount of time!) what I really enjoyed was when your time is up, they don't rush you out! I got to have my toddler have one last walk around and say goodbye rather than just tearing her away from what she was doing. I also have to add that the staff is amazing! Very kind and friendly, it was a very welcoming environment. At one point my daughter tripped and fell (over her dads foot) and a staff member was very quick to check on us and even got my daughter an ice pack. We will definitely be back, we actually live closer to the Houston children's museum but all agreed we love this one much more. Much less crowded and way less sensory overload. Small place, small parking lot. $7/pp. there's quite a few things to do but not as big or organized as the Houston or Sugarland/ fort bend location but it entertained my toddler and nephews. There's no attendant in any of the rooms except to pop in to straighten up the room. There's no signs on what to do in the rooms which would kind of help guide us along. A truly awesome little museum for young children! I've taken my son here twice now and he has a blast. It's really geared toward the preschool set with tons of arts & crafts, Legos, blocks, imaginative play, STEM activities, etc. It costs $7/person which I think is a pretty good value for the amount of time this place keeps my almost 3 year old entertained. You can also purchase a membership, which I'm definitely thinking about doing next time we're there. Parking is easy in a lot right behind the Moody Mansion and it's never really crowded if you get there right when they open. read more

Great addition to Galveston! This children's museum opened over summer in the basement of Moody Mansion. Admission is $6 per person. Parking is free. I took a 6 year old girl and I think she was the absolute perfect age for this children's museum. I would say that 4-8 years old would be the recommended age. Activities include working with circuits, designing gears, pretend fishing, a stage with dress up clothes, musical instruments, and many specialty areas around the facility. There is an art room but it was a little hard to figure out. We ended up just playing play-dough because we couldn't figure out where the paint was. There were multiple puzzles and building materials around the facility that kept my little sister occupied. There is even a woodworking station where kids can build something with nails and wood. I would recommend planning 2-3 hours here. If you're expecting the Houston Children's Museum you will be sorely disappointed because this is nothing like that. This is just a great place full of wonderful learning opportunities that has been created with love by the city of Galveston for its children. read more

My kids love it. They are ages 2 and 4... For most of the activities the kids that will get the most out of it would be between five and seven yet it is still descent for toddlers up to age ten. It is small but still diverse and highly interactive. It is also very clean, air conditioned and well staffed. We liked it so much we got a membership that has some really great perks such as date night for parents where you can leave the kids there and go out. We already have been there enough in a month to justify the cost. Also if you live in Galveston and need a good place to bring the kids during rain season or when it gets super hot, this is ideal. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this place. It is completely adorable, the employees were incredibly friendly and there were so many activities for my almost four year old and one year old. We spent an hour and a half here and would have stayed longer if my toddler hadn't tripped and busted his lip : / I love that it's in a historic building (Moody Mansion) also.
