She didn't even laugh or look up, just continued on her phone. I decided not to even try to make the best of it. I just said, If you want to be that way then maybe it's better I leave. When I attempted to place the same order today, the team members refused to make the smoothie, stating that it was not on the menu. I went back and forth with the person I assume was the team lead over the intercom, attempting to explain that I have ordered this exact smoothie from this location many times. Ultimately, I had to tell them that I was no longer willing to go back and forth over an order that has routinely been made for me. What was particularly frustrating was the complete lack of willingness to problem-solve or find a way to accommodate the request. I even asked for the franchise owner's name and the store number so that I could follow up appropriately. The team member did not know the owner's name and could only say that the store number was "maybe 553." My mother had ordered the exact same smoothie at this location approximately 30 minutes earlier. I was told that they were able to make hers because they made it as a 32 oz. smoothie, but that they did not know how to make it in a Kids size. Rather than continuing to argue about whether it could be done, I went to the Highland location near Alexander's Highland Market and placed the exact same order. They immediately knew how to enter it: "Lil Angel, no banana, substitute pineapple." There was no hesitation or confusion whatsoever. I understand that employees may not always know the answer to a request, and I certainly don't expect every team member to have every menu modification memorized. What I do expect, however, is a willingness to try to find a solution; particularly for a customer who has been ordering the same item regularly for more than a year. The Highland location demonstrated exactly what I would have expected: they figured out how to enter the order and took care of it without any issue or question. The employees at the location I visited today appeared to be young adults, and I sincerely hope this experience can be used as an opportunity for additional training with emphasis on customer service, problem-solving, creativity, and knowing when to seek assistance from a manager rather than simply refusing a request. I have been a longtime customer and have generally had positive experiences with Smoothie King. That is why today's interaction was especially disappointing.
