Abysmal Experience at Game On - Avoid at All Costs As an avid Magic: The Gathering player, I've had the pleasure of visiting numerous game stores across various states. Each one, until now, has welcomed me with open arms, fostering a loving and accepting community. Game On, however, was the polar opposite, and my experience there was nothing short of appalling. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was unwelcoming, a stark contrast to the vibrant and friendly environments I've come to expect. The staff, across the board, was rude and disrespectful, making it clear that customer service is not a priority here. The most egregious behavior came from an employee named Gabby. Her attitude was incredibly rude and disrespectful, and her unprofessionalism single-handedly ruined any chance of a positive experience. It's truly disheartening to encounter such a negative demeanor in a hobby that thrives on camaraderie and shared passion. Beyond the atrocious staff, the store itself is overpriced. Their inventory is marked up significantly higher than any other game store I've visited, which, coupled with the terrible service, makes it an entirely unappealing place to shop. It's no surprise that Game On seems to actively discourage customers from viewing their Yelp page. My visit made it abundantly clear why they would want to hide the inevitable deluge of negative feedback. Save your money and your sanity. There are countless welcoming and fairly priced game stores out there. Game On is not one of them. Bought an MTG collectors pack for $45 on a whim. Looked on online after, and they are selling for 19.99. I'm done with them.

Hostile staff and rip off prices. No one in the store has any knowledge about video games or anything they sell. The supposed "pro-gamer" that they have working for them hasn't played a game for 3 years and when he did game he trolled kids and children and made women cry. AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS AND GO TO COTTONWOOD LOCATION ONLY!! read more

Overall the place just feels uneven. I can only speak to the service and the comic section, not the games, which represent at least 70% of the floor selection. The new issues seem scarce and they don't seem to order enough. The back issues are a disaster; while they are grouped somewhat generically by title/character, they aren't organized beyond that. So you're fishing through multiple boxes of unsorted Batman issues (for example). Maybe you'll get lucky and find the one you want, who knows. It's pretty easy to fix, they just don't seem interested in doing so. The other issue is not so much the staff (everyone I've encountered is nice) but their point of sale software is awful and it takes forever to check out. It's an okay place but keep your expectations low. read more

Great store. Very clean. Very well organized. A great bunch on staff that know their games. Also hosts game nights in their store. I look forward to every chance I get to go check them out. I'll even special order things through them when possible. Game On is often the only option for MTG cards/accessories in Prescott, their awareness of this is made evident by their pricing. I purchased a Theros Beyond Death booster box at prerelease for 130 (market 100), Collector booster boxes were being sold for 300 (market 215). The employee that helped me was an older guy with glasses, short brown hair and facial hair maybe 50 years old. He wasn't very friendly and didn't seem to know much about the set which made deciding on a purchase difficult. When purchasing cards from the case, they remove the card from its sleeve, and will charge you for another. When I bought a card from the case (Meren of Clan Toth, market 18), the employee that handled the transaction (Balding chubby guy with glasses, want to say light color hair maybe 35) was my first negative experience at Game On. He took the card out of the sleeve, when I asked if he would keep it in the sleeve, he continued to remove the card and explained that they charged for the type of sleeve that it was in. I was sort of disappointed about this but didnt make a big deal out of it. The employee then put the card into a heavily used sleeve and damaged the card when doing so and it seemed intentional, he pinched the card and pushed it into the sleeve with his fingernail. See attached photo. Maybe he was upset that I looked through the mixed dice for a while? Maybe he was having a bad day. They have a great selection of cards and gaming accessories. Theres a younger guy who works there with long hair and a beard who is awesome, super helpful and friendly guy - very knowledgable on MTG. read more

My son just bought Pokémon cards, well he thought they were cards and unfortunately turned out to be the game. We stepped out of the store for 2 seconds and asked to exchange it to the cards. Keep in mind same price and they refused. His hard earned allowance! Just heartbreaking. Took him to target next door to buy him the cards there. Absolutely disgusting. read more

The store itself, is unique in the area as far as I know. I like board games, comic books, video games, etc. This store is big, well layed out and has a wide variety of products. Unfortunately, most if not all products are over priced. I paid $15 to play D&D. I was told the reason for the $15 buy in was because the DMs were paid. I was not impressed with the game management. In 4 hours, there was only one combat round, and major parts of the campaign were skipped. The entire session was read from a cell phone. Come on, you're getting paid. Print out the campaign, write it down, something other than reading an unexciting, monotone blurb from a phone, then griping about how bad it is. You're the DM, you have the ability to make or break the game. For me, I can't justify a weekly $15 buy in for an "adventure game" with no reward. No players pack, no instore credit, nada. Just supposed to pay $15/week for someone to read me a story in a flat monotone voice from a cell phone. read more

Great game store! You'll find everything here, rpg's, board games, card games, you name it. Plenty of room make browsing pleasant. The back is set aside for gamers looking for a terrain-playing experience: Warhammer, etc. People that work here are very nice. Beware of addiction though, there's so much stuff you're gonna want to get here that you'll you'll keep coming back. Oh, and by the way, there's a treasure chest filled with gaming dice. Best gaming store in Arizona! Lots of great board games, RPGs, war games, as well as comics and CCGs. Love their new location, which is much larger than the previous place and has a separate gaming area from the retail floor. Staff is fantastic, they work really hard to keep the place fun and friendly. read more

Nice game store and glad we have it but honestly the Back issue Comic collection is a bit over priced and not in very good condition. The curator of the collection should to take a second look at the condition of the books and reevaluate its value. Also it would helpful to have a person at the store who can work with collectors as haggling is a big part of collecting. read more

This is one of my all-time favorite places to be they cater any nerd out situation whether it's magic DND 40 K or anything else you can think of they can help you out so if you're a fellow nerd in anyway shape or form definitely need to stop by this place . I make it a point to visit board game stores when I travel. I always buy a game, because I believe in supporting such a great hobby. My only rule is they have to demonstrate a modicum of friendliness. The old way of having a grumpy employee staring at you when they don't recognize you just isn't acceptable anymore. This store has a great layout, is clean, has a decent board game collection, though not as big as I'm used to, and also offers a big variety of Games Workshop, Magic the Gathering, and even has puzzles which made the wife happy. What it lacked was that friendliness. We weren't greeted when we walked in, which was ok the employee was helping what one could assume was a regular, but when they left...crickets. We walked the whole store and not one word, just the occasional stare. Maybe they were having a rough night. It's 2020 though and that old school unfriendliness of gaming stores has to go. If you live in this town and need a board game I imagine this is your option, though Target is starting to have some decent games these days and it's right up the road. I'd always chose the FLGS (Friendly Local Game Store) over the big box, but I won't chose the unfriendly store. read more

Great selection of board games, Warhammer 40k, Star Wars miniatures (both Xwing and Armada), SW Destiny, and CCGs. They also have a good amount of space in the back with tables for gaming. Friendly staff, clean, and in a good location next to a mall. Highly recommend! read more
