First off, I will admit that I am not a PC gamer. Yeah, I know that's sort of the point of this place, but I wanted to try it out anyway. I came here mainly to check out the old DDR machines and see if there was anyone to play Rock Band with. There is a cluster of fighting games in a corner right when you walk in, but I didn't spot any DDR machines. Eventually I spotted one of them: unplugged, turned around, and shoved into a corner behind an active machine. Okaaay. Don't you have a storage room or something to put machines you aren't using? As it turns out, they do, but they couldn't put the unused DDR machine in it...since there was already a DDR machine in there. Oddly enough, that one was the one that was plugged in, so I gave it a whirl. It ranks among the worst arcade experiences I've ever had. The machine itself was fine, but the room was about as hot as the SURFACE OF THE SUN, and the rest of the room is crammed full of junk (since, yanno, it's a STORAGE room). Are they embarrassed to have people playing DDR in plain sight? Is there some gang war between DDR players and PC gamers that I'm unaware of? Really, whatever the reason, they should just unplug the damn machines and put them in storage if they don't want to give them the room and air circulation they need. The rest of the arcade machines get a bit more attention, but not much. They all occupy the same tiny corner. The machines are too close together so there's a big overlap of players and the people in line. The arcade area would definitely benefit if they spread the machines out more, especially since they have a good collection of fighters. The console setups looked pretty nice. There was one separate room with a big screen (or was it a projector?) and comfy seating that was being used by some kids playing Rock Band. Looks like it would be a good setup for a group who might want to get a bit louder and not have to worry about disturbing the rest of the store. There were also two medium-sized TVs in the main area for consoles. Since it's billed as a PC gaming center, the computers take up most of the space. One wall is lined with 'em. I can't say anything about the quality of the machines, but I liked that the boxes were up above each station so they were out of the way. The whole setup looks really good. I have no frame of reference for prices, but they seemed reasonable to me. $3.50 for an hour, $2 on Tuesdays. Much cheaper than spending an hour in an arcade, at the very least. Overall, I would recommend it if you want a place to go with a group. The guys who were already there were kinda doing their own things, so it's not really a place to go if you want to FIND a group. read more

I never contacted you because after reading all of the other negative reviews of this company, I figured I'd cut my losses. You didn't find a Max because I don't use my real name on the internet. It's a security thing. Your response update basically suggests that this transact never happened so the review can't be valid. Why would someone review you FOR NO REASON at all? If you have as many negative reviews as you guys have, it's probably YOUR company's fault, not your customers making things up. Let me give you a bit of advice for the future. If someone gives you a negative review, you message them and try to work out the situation and then ask them to take the review down after you reconciled their problem. You don't go on and say you searched for this transaction and couldn't find it. I could have had someone take it there and put it under their name. There are thousands of businesses on yelp with stellar reviews but for some reason YOUR company is the target of the pretend negative reviews. OK. For me to review something at all, the place has to really suck. I reviewed you because I had a bad experience at your business. PERIOD. If you say I paid $25, ok I buy that. I don't have a receipt to prove otherwise so I'll accept that I could have made a $10 discrepency regarding what I said I paid. Either way, the cost wasn't my primary issue. The issue is that I didn't get what I paid for and now I'm sitting here having you tell me that you have bad reviews because people are unreasonable and exaggerate that they have bad service with your company. At this point, I'm pretty confident that the negative reviews you have a likely warranted. From my experience alone, your belief is that if I gave you a negative review, it's because the problems is on my end. At the end of the day, I paid for something at your business and did not get what I paid for. Update: Attention to people who read this. Read all the reviews, responses, comments and make a decision for yourself. Simple as that. Austin, Texas! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! Brought my PS3 in for the yellow light of death at the end of May for repair. Get it home and after about a week, it happens again. Take it back for repairs. Same thing again.....and again. After four attempts at repairing it within 2 months, I decide that I should try something else and get a refund. Chris, the owner, informs me that they have a 90 day warranty. I just want a refund for the repair. In my mind, if you pay a business for a service and they DO NOT provide that service after TWO MONTHS of trying, you should get a full refund. Chris refused my refund and told me that he wanted to try another way of repairing it and that he couldn't discuss it with me further because he has a wife and kid to get home to. Austin, TEXAS! Beware! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! I left one star for this review only because I had to. This is a shady business. I should have known better and here's why. He states they have a 90 day warranty, if they can't fix it the refund is pro rated, etc etc. But when you leave your console for repair, he doesn't give you anything in writing stating the terms and conditions of the repair and what will be done and at what price. Nothing to sign and nothing to verify. You walk in, drop off your console, and you have nothing to go on except his word. If you do decide to go here for repairs, get EVERYTHING in writing with a legit RECEIPT. Or better yet, just send your PS3 to Sony so it can get repaired correctly the first time. It may cost more but its better than dealing with and supporting a shady business. Read the other reviews on here for them and you'll see. I went here based on the review before me after all I love arcades.. and I love gaming in general computer, console based etc.. They told me that they got rid of their arcade machines and that a new place is going to be opened up on Speedway .. by a different person that they were just storing them. Well long story short.. I played super smash bros on the Wii for 2 hours with my friend all inclusive costing me about 14 dollars for both of us. It was not filled with people on a weekday..except teenaged boys. I and my friend were the only females. They seemed to only have 2 setups for console games excluding rockband/guitar hero which have their own rooms. A whole wall for PC games.. which I will have to try next time. They have drinks to buy and snacks which is good. Overall I guess if you are looking for a way to kill time this is the place. Honestly I could do the same buying the game and parking my ass at home for free. I think the specials and the events they put on would be more interesting to check out if you are into that sort of thing. Otherwise bring a friend. read more

Abysmal failure and embarrassment to the community. Now let me start off by saying that I'm a very fair minded, educated, successful middle aged professional who would not take the time to express my utter discontent with any organization unless, I felt it absolutely irreprehensible in the manner they conducted business. Unfortunately my xbox had received a disk read error and in need of repair. I called and spoke to someone who diagnosed it as a disk drive issue and quoted me a $60 repair fee. Thinking that to be a fair price, I took my xbox in. The gentleman told me that the newer s-models had cheap disk drives and that was an ongoing issue. He tested it and continued to verify that a drive replacement would be needed and went into an explanation of where they ordered there drives from, as well as verifying the $60 dollar repair fee. Again, I took them at their word and even paid up front as I still tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. A couple of weeks later I went to pick it back up and this is where everything starts to fall apart... The gentleman at the counter was extremely cordial and hooked up my xbox. To both our surprise, it didn't work. Ok I thought not a big deal they'll make it right, especially since I already paid. He told me they replaced the laser and I mentioned to him that I was initially told that they were going to replace the hard drive. Either way, I didn't think too much of it as long as they took care of the issue. He took it back, came out and said that the thought that it was probably a bad laser that they put in and they needed to swap it out. Again, I didn't think too much of it, although I was told something completely different initially, I didn't care as long as it worked. So, after a while he went to check on it and came back out and proceeded to tell me that it was actually a bad drive (as I was originally told) and that I would be charged and extra $40 to fix the drive. So I asked why I would be charged an additional $40 to replace something that should've already been replaced? This is where things COMPLETELY FALL APART... The owner came out and started accusing me of lying. Then he proceeded to ramble on incoherently about how he was having a baby and that he needed money to pay for his baby. He then went on to ramble about how he was stressed out and how HE WAS DOING EVERYONE A FAVOR by offering repairs and how HE DIDN'T NEED THE MONEY. The irony is that the person I spoke to who initially "diagnosed" my problem told me that the only reason they're still barely in business is due to their repair service... ALso one, when I do a favor for someone or vice versa, there's usually not a charge associated with it, and two, if he didn't need the money he should stop complaining about needing money. I mentioned that I was considering just sending it to Microsoft since they would diagnose it correctly as well as offer a year warranty. This apparently infuriated his fragile ego even further as he went on another rant about how I should support local business (I thought he was doing us a favor) and continued to rant about everything from how he needed money for his baby, to how he paid too many taxes, to how people stressed him out and so on.... All things which were not anyone's problem but his own. This ranting continued far too long, as any rational and collected attempt to articulate my perspective was met with incoherent self-loathing. I honestly thought I was in the Twilight Zone. He continued to rant and rave and attempt to demean me, and I realized I was wasting my breath. In the end I realized that there were deeper personal demons that he had to deal with than his self-imposed therapeutic session with me was capable of exorcising. I concluded that I would not support someone who's business philosophy was an entitlement mentality, and who takes every opportunity to denigrate his cliental. I requested a refund and he stormed to the back with my xbox to extract the unnecessary laser that he had put in the first place. TO MY SURPRISE... while he was in the back, the employees there communicated to me how he continues to EMBARRASS them on a continual and consistent basis with potential cliental and how he was single handedly destroying their business. They expressed great distain and continued to profusely apologize to me for the manner that I was treated. The unfortunate trend is that this is apparently the norm. Interestingly enough, they confided in me that were I to leave a negative review, he would immediately try to respond and discredit me as he's done in the past with other reviews. To conclude, it's obvious this business is struggling and slowly dying, so it's a good thing that he doesn't need the money. I for one will not be recommending them, and will evangelize to everyone I know not to support these shameful and embarrassing business practices in any way. read more

My husband found Tek Republik a few years back when our regular gaming place shut down. Since then we have been gaming until our hearts content for $3 bucks an hour. As a girl gamer, I've got to say that I've never felt awkward being there nor did I feel any animosity from the staff. It's actually be the complete opposite. They know us by name when we walk in the door and always try to accommodate our large party to sit as close to each other as possible. Their console repair services are great. We brought in our mangled PS3 and they fixed it up like new for pretty much nothing. I recommend going earlier in the day when there isn't a whole lot of people because it can get pretty packed in the evenings or if you really want to be there late just get there early enough to save a seat. read more

I felt the need to review after reading some of the other reviewers opinions of Tek Republik and their employees. I have to say that I've been there twice for console repairs (two separate machines...the first couldn't be fixed). Anyway, both times I was treated courteously and received excellent, fast service and great prices. And - *shock* - I am a girl. I was really wary about going there because of the reviews I read, but decided to chance it because there was only one other place we could find that would fix our beloved xbox. I'm glad I did and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing a console repair. read more

So I'm supposed to be smart technician I'm A+ certified ..so my ps3 kept turning off I replaced thermal paste but bluray drive is not working I'm flipping out, I got guests coming in for thanksgiving who are gamers ... so Call them up ..explained whats up..very friendly knowledgeable staff..and they kept me abreast by email of their progress fixed in one day and they were done same day!!! I've been here about twice already and I've got to say I really like being there. The people are really friendly and Sarah the one working the counter was really helpful. The only thing I wish was a little better was the way the game loads. It's a little slow at times and sometimes takes a minute or two to load.. Other than that I like the fact that the snacks are cheap and the rates are pretty decent. I would be going there alot if I didnt live so far up north. read more

Very Impressed! I had a PS4 Pro that stopped working after a bad storm in April. Out of sheer laziness, I didn't try to get it fixed until last weekend. I went to the location on Guadalupe, I was greeted by two friendly guys who explained to me what the expectations and costs associated with the repair could be. Less than 8 hours later, I received a text saying that it was fixed and picked it up. They were really nice, knowledgeable guys who prepared me for the best and worst outcomes. Turns out it wasn't that big of a deal and I'm happy they took care of it so fast and were so informative. Highly Recommended! read more

Contrary to the other reviews, I have been here a handful of times for various issues from nasty viruses to hardware problems, and I couldn't be happier with the service. These guys are thorough, honest, and do a great job. Another advantage is that they don't charge enough. Every time I pick up a computer, I'm surprised by inexpensive bill and the level of service that you get for the little that you pay. I'm computer illiterate, and they simplify it all while getting me back up and running within a couple days...sometimes faster if I'm in a rush. Give them a try! read more

My son's xbox was glitching and would not complete the update. After working with xbox online and phone support, they suggested we find a repair shop. We found Game Republik and visited them to check it out. We met several different employees and all were kind and courteous and took the time to explain the next steps and pricing for the possible outcomes to repair it. While the xbox was at the shop, we received several emails updating us on the status of the repair. Great customer service, we will definitely be back if/when repairs are needed again! read more

I started going to this place in 2009 , after noticing it while driving around Austin - looking for ways to spend my days off. I was excited when I walked in and found there were numerous computers , a t.v. w/ cable programming & even a large screen 'room'. The front lobby was huge and it didn't feel crowded. I had a couple of bad experiences with one particular employees attitude during the time at the old Burnett location - but had fun enjoying the many computer games available. They even had a website for reference. The store eventually moved to a slightly more south location (near UT campus) - & that is where I can say that I began to experience some of the worst days filled with frustration that most should never have to endure. Instead of gradually making the progression of transit - the business just uprooted with one fell swoop. Up to the first 2-3 months , getting enough room to find a set to get on a console was immensely difficult and almost with guarantee fail. It was a complete mess , with the 'word of mouth' practically being the only method in which anyone could find out of the relocation. The website is still for the old location , so much for hiring someone for $120 to redesign a new one , and make it known that the business is still open & has changed names. I remember waiting 40 min...(i'm a dedicated gamer) one morning to get on a console , the front desk employee's thoughts must have been on a cheeseburger. There was a time when a majority of the XBOX 360 hard drives disappeared for 3 weeks or so , so i was having to use the time i had purchased for : re-downloading maps , profile , updates ..... at least 2 hours on 2 times. The controllers have been the exact same for at least the time I've been going , and I can admit they are in a state of disrepair. It's like trying to make a clay pot with jello instead because of the amount of 'play' (use & lag). I've had issues with the consoles freezing up. The chairs in the console are rather dilapidated and my back starts to tense up after a little while. There is simply no cushioning left on those chairs and i was sometimes lucky enough to grab one from the computer area. Don't get me wrong , it's a fun place to be at times - but it's a little crowded at times , and most people game in groups - so playing Battlefield 3 while others are on LOL. The hours after the move would be Close at 10...thanks for telling me when I paid for the extra 2 hours. I've even continued to be logged in after I left - meaning that hour or so left on my account is GONE when i come back the next day ! If i started asking about a particular game that they DIDN'T have - "it sucks!" would be the replay...wow. Okay , maybe you'll should buy a copy instead of trying to promote other games. I've got the money to purchase my own systems - i've gone through 6 XBox 360s , 2 PS3s ...I would subject them to long sessions ....so after so many hours would get another. There is 1 employee that continued to be a pestering annoyance recently. A young kid that would watch me as though I was attempting to steal games , is he prejudice ? I've been going to the Republik for years & he's been there for 2 weeks AND already knows me ? I carry a $200 flashlight - why would i want to steal a game ! I remember having issues with XBox Live & asked to a compensation for the 30 min I lost ....I had to ask 3 times before he spoke loud enough because he assummed he was being so intelligent about it. This guy's attitude is beyond reality - it's superficial and the cynical mannerism are childish. I've asked for snack...."i'd like to purchase 2 bottles of water AND i'll come back for the second later" with his response "ok .....(hands me BOTH bottles)".........WTH ? I'm 3 feet away from you , are you lacking intelligence ? This kid is young , light colored hair , skinny (150lbs) and his attitude is in need of serious adjustment. Obviously another overprivledge kid who probably has his parents buy everything - probably just working for the free game time. It is not the younger , longer blonde hair kid , this guy is maybe 19....and is a total jerk. Don't believe i'll ever go back...i've got more hobbies than I can coun't and think going there is not just what it used to be. read more

They diagnosed some ps3s I dropped off Quickly, and prompted me by email to pick them up. They weren't able to fix them unfortunately . They offered to buy them $50 according to the email. The manager comes and tells me $30 and tries to hustle me. Not only that, he is extremely rude and arrogant. I called his behavior Unprofessional and discourteous. He is paranoid and flips out at customers; I saw him cuss out a kid who paid Over $200 for a ps3 they fixed and broke again. Approach with caution. Prepare to meet aspergers' staff And condescending attitude towards customers. They are techs, they don't engineer or design consoles/computers. Dish out the attitude and behave like any normal business! read more

Reason for going: my PS3 suffered from what is called the "Yellow Light of Death". Catchy, right? I know. I read through different sites about this problem and what needed to be done, nothing that I could do myself since I'm not tech savvy. I turned my console in Dec. 28th around 7pm. I just got it back today, the 29th, at 1:30. Less than 24 hours and it's back to life! I can sleep well now, no more nightmares or cold sweats lol! I talked to Mike K at the front desk and he knew exactly what needed to be done and better yet, explained their entire process to me and my wife. They provided me updates through e-mail to let me know what was going on and I sure did check. I did not get the name of the gentleman behind the counter when I picked up my PS3, but he gave me some very helpful tips information on what needed to be done to maintain it backed with a 90 day warranty. I have to say this was an awesome experience and now I am back up and gaming again. About the reviews here on Yelp, I think we owe it to businesses like TR to give them more of a chance. We all have dealt with pretty bad experiences in our lives and with the freedom of the world wide web, able to express them to other people. I take reviews with a grain of salt and I did have some second thoughts about trusting an investment like my PS3 to TR. But I did and I have to say I was more than satisfied. Was the owner Chris wrong for his comments? Maybe. Were the consumers who posted negative reviews in the right? Who knows. I am totally not discrediting consumers on here or dismissing the owners actions. But reviews seem to hurt small business more than they would a chain like Wal-Mart or Chili's. They can handle losing so many customers, then just raise their costs by fractions and will still come out ahead. TR does not have that luxury. What's amazing to me is that TR just recently opened just a couple of years ago. With Austin being such a tech town, I would think there would be more places to take consoles to repair or upgrade. And for that I applaud TR for providing such a unique service, because it is unique to be able to send a console, not a pc, but a console in somewhere to have it taken care of. I really hope this review will help you in deciding whether to trust TR with your consoles. I will definitely go back for any issues and I really truly hope you give Tek Republik a chance. I had a really positive console repair experience at Tek Republik, and wanted to share it with you Yelpers. Yes, okay, I admit it. I have a problem. I am a gamer. Always have been, probably always will be - until the day Ol' Grim himself pries my Dual Shock 37 from my arthritis-curled hands. I blame my parents. Must have been those trips to the pizza parlors and countless quarters plunked into Gorf, Donkey Kong, Pac Man and the like. So we just passed the 4th of July holiday weekend. I had a 3 1/2 day weekend, several new games for my PS3 and several days with few responsibilities. Wife & kids were taken care of? Check! Awesome, so down to gaming! So on the evening of the third the unthinkable happened! My brand-new game locked up in the system after I'd plowed two-thirds of the way through the game! I frantically called EA's tech support, who spent 45 minutes on the phone with me. Eventually they asked if I'd checked the disc. "What?" I thought... Why would I need to check the disc?? The game is brand-spankin'-new, and I am outright obsessive about the care and cleanliness of my disc-based media. CD's, DVD's, games, etc - these are the few things in life I am obsessive about. I thought about it though, and figured I might have gotten a factory-wrecked disc. It occasionally happens. So I popped the disc out, and to my horror saw what appeared to be scratches in a circular pattern around the disc. No wonder it wouldn't play! Upon closer inspection, the "scratches" appeared to be some sort of oily substance on the disc. In a panic, I checked some other recently-played discs. I'd bought a new game for my wife, who'd only been able to play it for an hour... This game also showed the same residue, only much lighter. So I checked the games that had been played the prior weekend, and they were spotless! The next day (the 4th of July), a friend recommended another game store who had repaired his PS2, and I called them initially. They said they didn't work on PS3 consoles, but recommended Tek Republik. I called around lunch time and spoke with Scott. I explained the situation, and Scott immediately had a good idea of what was going on. He quoted me an extremely good price for the repair ($60.00) and advised me it should only take about 20 - 30 minutes to fix once he got to it. I told him I'd bring the console in on Wednesday, as I was going to be insanely busy on Tuesday. So during the day on Tuesday (between my day job and going to cook for about 60 people at the lodge I'm a member of), I called two other locations in Austin that offer console repair. Both places quoted me much more involved repairs at substantially higher prices (between $150 - $200). I decided that if the repair was going to be $150 or more, I would just buy a new console and swap out the 500 GB hard drive I had installed in the old PS3. So Wednesday rolls around & I roll down to Tek Republik on my lunch break, arriving between 12:30 - 12:45pm. I took the malfunctioning console and one of the games it had "slimed". I was greeted by Brandon, who heard my tale of woe and told me that Scott was in and there was one repair ahead of me. Brandon offered to call or email me when the work was completed, but I said I'd just hang around if it was going to be a short wait. Even with another customer ahead of me, Brandon and Scott had my console repaired in less than 40 minutes. They actually charged me substantially less than the price I was originally quoted! I paid a little over $45 - and that included an energy drink while I waited! To top things off, they cleaned the dirty disc for me for free, and without even being requested to! I have had the console back home for two days. Thus far, I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. And it has been used for probably 10 - 12 hours during that time between games, Blu-Ray movies, and streaming Netflix. Every disc that I've pulled out of the console after taking it to Tek Republik looks brand new, just like I like it! I can't speak to any of the experiences other Yelpers have had. I can tell you that my experience completely exceeded my expectations, and if my PS3 breaks down again (or my XBox 360, or my Wii, or my PS2, or my Gamecube, or my kids' DS or PSP), I would take it to Tek Republik without a second thought. read more

I just used Tek-Republik for the first time to have a XBOX 360 repaired. The service was great. The value was great, compared to what MS charges. They told me when it would be complete and it was completed on time. Their computer system sent me emails throughout the process to keep me informed of their progress. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I had my ps3 repaired in november and put a rush on it. I was told it would be done the next day. After paying I left and had just gotten on to the street when I received a phone call telling me it would be done in 15 minutes if I wanted to come back. I turned around, picked it up, and have been playing ever since no problems. I'll be back today to fix my friends Xbox I accidentally knocked over! read more

As far as LAN game centers, this place is worth checking out. It has a really chill vibe almost as if you are coming over to someone's house. The pcs are alright, specs are on their website. They have console gaming as well. They also do gaming hardware repairs. They got snacks. It's not a bad hang if you game. read more

We took a PS3 in to fix it due to the yellow light of death. The PS3 had no scratches and was always kept in very great condition. They fixed it. Just wish we would have received it back the we took it in. We received the PS3 with scratches all over the the outer chassis. Top and bottom. The HDD blue screw and the rubber screw cover were both missing. Very disappointed. read more

I looked on Craigslist for a cheap, used replacement and found an ad for Game Republik saying they would fix the Red ring of death for only $25. This seemed to be to be true. I checked the yelp page and saw quite a few questionable reviews so I was a little hesitant but figured for $25 how bad could it be. My Xbox was headed for the trash anyway. I dropped it off and everyone was very nice. They told me $25 and it'd be ready in 3-5 days. It ended up taking two weeks which was slightly annoying, only because they didn't tell me, but not a huge deal. I've now had it for over a week and have used it quite a bit with no issues so far. I'd definitely recommend this place if you need an Xbox repaired. *******Update********** The Xbox worked great for about a month but s of today, the red ring of death is back. I kind of assumed it wouldn't last long and it was only $25 so I won't lower my rating but just know if you have a really old Xbox like me, 7 years, there's probably only temporary fixes. read more

I was heartbroken over the yellow light on my ps3. These guys quoted a price HALF that of their competitor. I dropped it off in the morning and had it in the evening with a 90 day warranty. These guys are fantastic and I entrust them with my future system failures. A+ read more

I'm not going to write a long drawn out review, because honestly this place does not deserve one. The customer service is probably the worst I have experienced anywhere. After waiting at the front for 5-10 minutes I am rudely greeted, by an obnoxious adolescent, that appears to be gaming rather than doing his job. Throughout the time I was there the customer service was just plain awful. Anytime I have worked in the service industry the primary goal of whatever job is to keep the customer happy, obviously that isn't the case at Game Republik. Oh one more thing the owner is probably the biggest jerk of them all, after buying a monster and leaving it near a pc I was gaming on, I had to use the restroom. Upon my return my Monster seemed to have been stolen with the Owner on the PC directly next to mine. My boyfriend's PS3 -- the backwards-compatible type -- got the YLOD in December. We were both distraught and didn't want to lose hundreds of hours of saved game data. I called Sony. They offered to try to fix it, and if that failed, they would send a refurbished PS3 slim. Pffft. No. We took it down to Game Republik and got a quote -- I think it was $80 -- for the repair with a 90 day warranty. I was a little worried by the grubbiness of the building (which looks more like a shack, really), but we still pre-paid to get bumped up in the repair queue. I was getting cranky from Skyrim withdrawal. My boyfriend got a call a day or two later, and it had already been fixed! It's been around 3 months, now, and it's still running perfectly. We started backing up our save data just in case, but if anything ever happens to it again, I know where to take it! read more

The company I usually use recommended Game Republik to fix my Xbox 360. Very quickly it was diagnosed that new capacitors were needed and were then ordered. It took weeks, about 4, to receive notification that it was fixed. I picked it up and paid and found they had lost the external wireless connector. I called and they were immediately defensive, denying they ever had it even though they documented that they did. I also found that Chris was still fixing my board and that the XBOX they had given me was mine but had someone else's board in it that would not work. They could not find my wireless antenna and offered me another that didn't match my unit. In keeping with the defensive nature, Chris began telling me about his family woes, which whilst I am sympathetic, really is not an excuse and we all have problems. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing to say the least. So now I have an Xbox that doesn't work, no wireless connector, the Xbox has someone else's board in it, they have my old broken board and I am out the repair which I paid for. I should simply have sent it to Microsoft and got them to repair or refurbish it and I recommend anyone with an Xbox repair simply does that rather than take their units of any kind to Game Republik. Been here twice to have XBOX 360's repaired. Fair price of $25 for repair. My first experience with Tek was a very good experience. Dropped off my system, told me it would be a few days and acutally had it back the same day. My second experiece wasn't nearly what I expected. Dropped my system off on a Thursday shortly after they opened. Was told it would be a couple days. I'm wasn't in a hurry to get back, so no big deal. Called Tek the following Wednesday to see what the status of the repair was. Was told they had alot of repairs and were taking longer than normal to get to mine. Gentlemen on the phone indicated it would be Friday at the latest. I was ok with this. I understand these things happen. However, when I dropped by after work on Friday, I was told it would be Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. While I'm a paitent person, I don't like to be given the run around and expect businesses to follow through on their word. While nothing was in writting, I politely asked for my system back and left. While their prices are fair, I don't think I would go back. Honesty in business is important to me and keeping to the promises to you customers should be priority one. read more

I see a lot of reviews of this place, some very happy some upset it took a few extra days. All I can say is you probably went there for a reason (price, ability to repair consoles, etc) and things DON'T always work out perfectly. I have been to the place a couple of times. The computers aren't cutting edge, but what can you expect when you're paying $3 per hour to use them. The staff was reasonable. I won't say they are 5 star service professionals, but they give you stuff when you ask them for it or are legitimately frustrated about something not working properly. They made a reasonable attempt to satisfy me both times I was there. I did get a little bit of an elitest feel from some of the people there, but after working in the tech industry long enough you learn to ignore it pretty well. Seems like a good place for kids, as they had some consoles setup and a bunch of computers for the kids into PC games, and I didn't really overhear any profanity or otherwise vulgar/adult behavior. I'll say I would rate it a 3 or 4 stars, and because its also kid friendly I'll give it 4 stars. read more

My boys have grown up on our Wii. They are old enough to want an Xbox, but I have balked at their requests. Maybe next Christmas I say. Well recently they got Madden. They LOVE Madden. I do not love it, but it helps me keep them cleaning their room. Dirty room, and Madden goes away. Its magic. Well last weekend the Wii went away. They freaked. It had worked for years. They also both expected to get a Xbox as an early Christmas present. Madden is better on Xbox they say. Went to Gamestop, and they recommended these guys. So I went in last night with the boys in tow. The place was packed, Apparently they are also a gaming center, and it was crazy and my boys were wild with delight. All of the games people were playing, I could hardly pull them out of there. The guy at the counter was younger, but he brought up one of the techs to check it out. He said well you are probably in luck. It probably just needs the fuse reset. I did not know what that would entail or how long it would take. He promptly hooked it up to their TV, and plugged it in, and to my amazement it powered up. Madden loaded back up. He then tried it with our power cable, and it worked again. No charge. They know there stuff, and my boys are happy except that they no longer get an early Christmas present. read more

Beware of this place. This is not a trustworthy place of buisness I took them my ps3 with a 320gb hard drive I just recently started back playing my system, and something did not seem right I go in to check my, systems memory only to find there was a 60gb installed in my system with none of my information, (data). I called to ask about, what happened , basically I was lied to and spoken to very rudely.I would have like to resolved the matter without legal actions being involved, but I feel as if the people of Game Repulik are very untrustworthy, and unprofessional about trying to solve the issue at hand.
