I personally was on the hunt for ATARI 2600 cartridges, and they had plenty at a decent price (between $2-10). I also saw SEGA Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast games + peripherals/accessories which can be difficult to find anywhere but the internet nowadays. You'll also find Nintendo, Sony Playstation, and Xbox games/accessories. Nothing NEW new, because this is specifically a retro game store, so if you want the newest releases, go to GameStop or something LOL. One of the coolest things about this location is that they have a corner of their store dedicated to a "museum" of consoles, and it's quite impressive! A lot of ooold consoles like ATARI's line-up and lesser-known consoles like Intellivision, Magnavox, etc. Even some Japanese imports. Fun for a stroll down memory lane (if you're old enough) or to learn about the history of video gaming (if you're not, haha)! Another corner of the store actually has a set-up for you to test/demo games! There's a TV with many consoles hooked up to it, and a comfy couch to enjoy too. The employees here are friendly, out-going, ready-to-assist, and decently knowledgeable too. The fellow assisting me kindly cleaned off the contacts on my cartridges before checking out. You can also find old video game manuals/guidebooks here. Besides retro stuff, you can also find a few modern things like plushies, lanyards/hats/wallets, etc. Game Over Videogames is a small chain with multiple locations. One cool policy they have is that if a game turns out to be non-functional, you can bring it back within two weeks to be replaced. This is good news for me, because I tested the 12 ATARI cartridges I got when I got home and one was a dud (not bad, considering their age!).

They really know how to burn their customers…read more I've been to D-Pad several times in the past and have had virtually no problems, so it was a huge shock to me when they sold my fiancé and I several marked up PS2 games without disclosing the issues prior to purchase. There was sharpie on the discs, cases, and booklets on every single one of the games, but when we brought them back to return them a few days later they charged us a 10% restock fee because they 'weren't defective.' The guy DID tried to get the sharpie off, but outside of that the entire situation was just horrible business practice. If you shop here, open and check the PS2 cases before making a purchase. They openly admitted that they received some 200+ PS2 games that were all marked up. Hope this helps someone.

Six minutes went by with absolutely no interaction, no reply, no answer. That was the first time in my lifespan that I've ever seen somebody behave that way in a customer based business. It's a narrow, long shop making the best use it can out of limited space- prepare to crane your neck to try seeing everything. It's rather disorganized... some stuff is in glass cases, requiring you to ask for assistance (for instance, the basket of SEGA GameGear cartridges was impossible to see what they had without asking), other stuff is higgledy-piggledy on shelving, and nothing makes much sense in terms of separating games from DVDs/VHS from collectible cards from board games from action figures. Mind, some folks might definitely enjoy this kind of experience that feels like digging through a garage sale for unique finds to uncover treasure, so I can't knock it too hard, because there was definitely a lot of cool retro stuff to look at. The employees are... well, disengaged. I think they're tired. Apparently they deal with thefts on a rather regular basis, due to their location close to downtown Austin. When we asked to see GameGear games, we had to wait quite awhile, because one employee stayed behind the counter the whole time, and the other was busy with another customer... then finally when he was done with them, he sat beside us to watch us the entire time. ^_^;; So apparently everyone they don't recognize as a regular gets treated with suspicion. It's just not the best circumstance. This location does have a bathroom! It also has a small area with tables and chairs for customers to play board games (probably during scheduled times). Another thing to know ahead of time is that parking is challenging, since it's just along a major road with no parking lot. Your best bet is to pull in at Torchy's Tacos if there's room. Otherwise you'll be trying to find street parking and battling traffic.

Sign on door said they had 15 units available, but when the doors opened the guy said they only had 6. Pretty sure the manager was holding back product for themselves to buy. Just wasted 5 hours of time, when I was the 5th person in line.
