We wanted to get a game for our friend's birthday and we could not find it in stock ANYWHERE. I called my local game stores and checked the online stock for other stores. Then I got a tip from one of the other game stores and called Gamelandia and they had a few on hand. So we drove through rush hour traffic and secured a copy! The price was the same price as everywhere - there was no mark-up and the only extra we paid was the sales tax. To communicate with the store, I had to text them. At the store, there were plenty of employees that were all very friendly and were able to help me out right away. The store is FULL of a very well-curated selection of games. There were a lot of newer games, not just old games gathering dust that haven't sold in a decade. This store is not for the minimalist - every nook-and-cranny has something colorful and interesting to feed your adhd brain. I also like that they have some abstract games you can try out at the front of the store, which is nice, since some of those games aren't the cheapest. My one complaint is that the store is a little small - I wish the space was larger so you can walk around more easily. I recommend stopping by, trying out a game, then peruse the store. read more

Wanted to support local business...even though items are significantly marked up....Big mistake. Negative experience. I purchased a booster bundle via store website for my son as Christmas gift & Received purchase confirmation and an email the following day stating: " Hi, Our goblins are lovingly packing your order for shipping as we speak! ... etc" Only to receive an email several hours later stating: " Hi, We are unfortunately out of stock ... etc" In exchange Gamelandia offered me 'Loose' packs instead of the sealed booster bundle I ordered. Apparently lying in their previous email saying my order was 'being packed' several hours before. Untrustworthy. Unprofessional. Never again . Ended up purchasing the same item for $30 cheaper @ Pokemon vending machine. read more

Small store, very cramped and I couldn't take many pictures due to having little elbow room. Of note; the entire mall had a 2 hour parking limit before you got towed. Credit or debit card only, no cash like I've seen other game stores take. But they had what I was looking for, even if the dice selection wasn't as expansive as I would have liked. But they did have brands other than Chessex. Tons of packaged board games from various companies as well. The workers were helpful and it was simple enough to sign up for a store account. Supposedly has room to rent so you can play games, but the store barely fit 4 people in it from what I could tell. $10 for 2 hours of play. Merchandise prices weren't always listed, you have to ask about the pins in particular. Final note: look online for opening hours, they don't open at the same time every day. read more

Cute board game shop in Palo Alto! There are some tables outside and some rooms in the back as well! There's a lot of board games but also fun collectibles like enamel pins, trading card packs, etc. there seems to be a wide range of games carried here like anything from Set, Exploding Kittens, Wingspan, Betrayal at House on the Hill, etc. The shop itself is a little small but has a lot of stuff to browse through. This is from my observation and all the time I've visited the location. Just want to compare to some of the reviews I'm reading. This is about my 5-6th time here. Even though the space is a little small, there's actually more playing room in the back. There's been time where I went by myself and did an open play and got to select from a good list of games to play and learn. They also have some learn and play event that's a good opportunity to learn how to play new games, actually had one of the designer there once teaching, which is super cool . If you do open play the pricing is pretty decent, we chose to buy some games and play them at the store. There's also complementary tea and hot chocolate. Just be careful and not spill Yesterday we saw an associate spent a good amount of time patiently walking a family through the store helping to find a couple of game that's age appropriate for Christmas. I've never had issue with their service and was glad to see some good game consultation. The list of games for sale is also really good, sometimes it give me good game to find and buy. For a retailer I think the price is fair. Pick up a copy of Cafe Baras yesterday for $19 which is even cheaper than Target and it's a new game so don't even see it on Amazon. The copy of Lord of the Rings duel was also the same price as Amazon, so I don't have much issue with pricing. I really like the games they have set out and feel like every turn I look I see a new game I'm interested in. I really like this spot. I even got $10 off already for all the games I've bought so far. I came here today to purchase op13 on release day. I also had come into the store asking about it the prior week. they give different information to different people at different times. If you are an honest person like myself you wouldn't appreciate going to a store that doesn't let you purchase products according to the release dates provided by the distributors. These people take the second spot for the most rude staff I have ever encountered. The league is a laughing stock and they are pocketing promotional cards and selling them in the case or selling them on a third party website. I was able to see this from one of the employees pricing out the cards and adding it to the third party website. Im pretty disappointed in seeing this in the hobby. Looking for an unique place to host your child's (or your own!) birthday party? We hosted our son's seventh Pokémon birthday party here, and everything was fantastic. The facility is neat and clean, including the restrooms. Our event was held in the Big Room, which is bright, spacious, and beautifully decorated with a large wall mural. The owners of the store were wonderfully gracious, kind, and flexible. Our Pokémon event hosts, Kai and Frank, were friendly, engaging, and thoughtful. We brainstormed some activities together, including bingo, learn-to-play, crafts, and a battle station. They did all the work of setting up, providing all the materials, and keeping the kids happy. You get all the compliments! Most importantly, the kids had a great time and definitely want to go back! read more

This is a newer store in the Palo Alto area that caters to the gamers out there. The play rooms are very nice - hand painted murals and plenty of open tables / seats. The game selection is very ranged, a LOT of inventory in this store. A little bit of something for everyone. I am giving it four stores for one reason only - the prices at this store are pretty high compared to other stores in the area. Its a beautiful place to come and hang out with other gamers, but the steep price would probably keep me from buying my more expensive board games here. Every Pokémon card I opened from booster packs were bent. And this place is overpriced(not just the Pokémon).

I LOVE GAMELANDIA!!! I've been to every game store from San Francisco to San Jose, and I must say Gamelandia is my favorite, by far. Amazing staff and the owners are attentive and friendly. The owners make sure everyone is having fun, you can tell they really care about their patrons. The store's got a fantastic selection of games and what makes Gamelandia so great is they have two separate game rooms where they host a multitude of different events. I personally play MTG and every event I've been to has been a pleasure, so much fun. Other reviews point out the pricing but I'd say their prices are still competitive and COME ON, SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL GAME STORE!!! Look where they're located, prime downtown Palo Alto and their prices are still fair. For every MTG prerelease, my friend and I like to go to different stores around the Bay, but I must say Gamelandia is always the one I'm most excited for and it never disappoints. Even the people who play here are great and make you feel right at home. Give this place a try if you're looking for a new community, you won't regret it. read more

I have been to a bunch of game stores in the South Bay Area and this is by far the best. Better than Game Kastle, better than Illusive, better than legends. The reason why is the selection of games is huge, but also the selection of game types. board games, card games, loving card games, miniatures, dice games, kids games, adult, etc. Plus they have a great selection of rpg games instead of only focusing on DND and Warhammer. I had to pick up a GCC book since it was the first time I have seen any stores carry it. Also on Sunday they do classes for kids to get into games such as teaching Pokémon and painting miniatures. They people working there are really nice and knowledgeable about what they carry as well. read more

This place has a lot of options and I love that you can rent out a room to play games with your family/friends. It is a pretty tight space so it can get overwhelming when you want to move around because there isn't a lot of room to pass by other people. I've been in here a few times and I will say that the customer service could use some work. The last time I went in was a couple weeks ago and the two men working there were more concerned about buying a soda than acknowledging customers. My friend asked if they had a specific product and the two men were pretty rude and made us feel dumb for asking when they didn't know what we were talking about. read more

Inconsistent customer service. Also, they don't take cash and will chide you for making the mistake of thinking they do. They say it's for safety, alright I understand. It doesn't change the fact that when I'm paying $60+ for a game or ttrpg book, that percentage starts to add up quickly, so be aware if you're on a budget or have limited options outside cash. While they do have a pretty good selection of books and sometimes niche items, I don't feel compelled to support this place and have rarely spent money here, I just think it's not for me. read more
